My HERO Bonus Offer Plan For Oil Heated Homes Switching to Gas supplied by FortisBC If you’d like to access the Home Energy Rebate Offer (HERO) Program’s $750 Bonus Offer, here’s what to do: 1) Complete a pre-retrofit EnerGuide home evaluation with City Green (1-866-381-9995 or
[email protected]) before starting your energy efficiency upgrades. Evaluations back to April 1, 2013 are eligible as long as the home has not changed owners. Upgrades purchased and/or installed before April 22, 2014 are not eligible. Upgrades performed before your evaluation are not eligible for the Bonus Offer. 2) Replace your oil furnace with a gas furnace in compliance with the Switch ‘n Shrink program requirements (note the important timelines, which are different from HERO). A gas furnace backup for a heat pump does not qualify for the HERO program and will make you ineligible for other rebates from the HERO program. 3) Review your Renovation Upgrade Report, which you will receive after your evaluation. a. If insulation is in your top three recommendations in the Report, you must complete an insulation upgrade up to the Bonus Offer level. b. If draftproofing is in your top three recommendations in the Report, you must draftproof up to the draftproofing Bonus Offer level. c. If both draftproofing and insulation are in the top three recommendations, you only need to do one of either draftproofing or insulation as one of your three Bonus Offer upgrades. 4) Complete at least three upgrades (including the Switch ‘n Shrink upgrade) to Bonus Offer requirements. Requirements for accessing the standalone rebate are not necessarily the same as the requirements for accessing the Bonus Offer. Upgrades must meet Bonus Offer Requirements to be counted towards the Bonus Offer. 5) Complete a post-retrofit evaluation. Refer to your confirmation e-mail for how to prepare. Your energy advisor will complete “Form A” at your post-retrofit evaluation. 6) Please ensure you have completed the Homeowner- or Landlord/Tenant (and Tenant Consent Form) Application form to the best of your ability before the post-retrofit evaluation.
