TONER HOPPER SECTION 1. Remove the fill plug using a small flathead screwdriver to pry it off.
2. Press down on the tab shown to allow the blue handle to turn to its “locked” position, and open the feed section. Now you can clean the toner section of the cartridge.
3. Remove the gear cover shown, using a small flathead screwdriver to pry it off.
4. NOTE: The waste section seal cannot be removed, unless the blue handle is pulled out several millimeters, and the small white gear shown can be removed. Instead, simply cut and remove the upper portion of the plastic seal to access to the opening on the waste section as shown.

5. With the plastic seal removed, dump out as much toner as possible before using compressed air to clean the cartridge.
6. Turn the blue handle to its”locked” position. The trap door on the waste section (shown) will rotate clockwise to the “open” position, allowing you to blow out all the waste toner from the chamber.
7. With the cartridge thoroughly cleaned, reseal the waste opening and turn the blue handle to its “unlocked” position to close the feed section. Fill the hopper with the appropriate amount of new toner and install the fill plug.
REPLACING THE CHIP 8. Locate the chip cover in the upper left hand corner of the toner cartridge. NOTE: Verify that this is a standard or high-yield cartridge. If it is a starter cartridge, it will not have a chip compartment.

9. Remove the chip cover by inserting a small flat blade screwdriver into the appropriate cartridge opening shown. Slowly pry the cover back to release the clips holding the cover in place. NOTE: Remove the cover side closest to the end so as not to damage the tabs.
10. Remove the OEM chip from inside the cover and insert the replacement chip. NOTE: The circuits need to be facing up when inserting. Position the new chip correctly and slide into the opening, and attach the chip cover.

12. Pry off the rear cover panel from the tabs shown.
13. Pry off the front cover panel from left to right. Remove the cover.

14. Remove the two doctor blade screws shown.
15. The blade is not free yet. First peel off the foam seal attached to the blade shown (A). Also, remove the adhesive foam seal along the back edge of the cartridge (B). Clean both foam seals thoroughly using a vacuum or compressed air and set aside. Be careful when using a vacuum, as the seals can easily get sucked into it.

16. Remove the two screws from the small end cap shown.
17. Slide the end cap away from the cartridge - just enough to where the primary charge roller (PCR) can be removed.
18. Remove the PCR.
19. Remove the two screws from the large end cap.

20. Slide the developer roller away from the green bearing (shown), without pulling the end cap. The green bearing must stay in place.
21. The green bearing adjusts the amount of pressure placed on the doctor blade by the developer roller (left). The green bearing will also be found on the opposite end cap (right). Both gears should be positioned the same way.

22. Remove the small end cap.
23. Remove and clean the developer roller.
NOTE: The attached drum axle will come out with it.
NOTE: Use a lint free cloth to clean off any toner residue. Do not use any chemicals to clean.
24. Remove The OPC drum.
25. Release the tab to unlock the supply roller assembly.

26. Remove the supply roller assembly shown, and clean the cartridge thoroughly.
27. NOTE: When installing the supply roller assembly, make sure the sealing blade is placed over the end felt to prevent the drum unit from leaking.
28. Install the drum and the developer roller as shown.

ID UNIT DRUM CLEANING BLADE 29. Remove the end cap cover to clean the waste transfer system shown. The cover is anchored by several tabs all around. Use light pressure to unlock the tabs and pry the cover off, using a small, flat head screw driver.
CLEANING THE DRUM 30. Unfixed toner remaining on the OPC drum is removed by the drum cleaning blade and collected into the waste toner area of the cartridge.
NOTE: If you are using a vacuum, be careful not to suction the foam seal while cleaning the end cap.
31. Install the PCR as shown.
32. Before installing the small end cap, you will first need to install a new reset fuse in order to reset the page count. First modify the fuse to fit. Using a small flathead screwdriver, press the fuse wire between the two copper contacts as far as they can go. NOTE: Starter drum units will not have an installed fuse.

33. Install the cleaned small end cap with drum axle shown.
34. Pry off the toner sensor cover.
NOTE: Make sure all the components are aligned correctly in order for the end caps to fit. A gentle jerk of the cartridge might be necessary.

35. Use a cotton swab and alcohol to clean the reflective area of the toner sensor. This will lower the risk of a “toner sensor error” message.
36. Install the doctor blade and the cleaned sealing foams to prevent any toner leakage. NOTE: Use rubber cement ONLY to install the front doctor blade seal (A). Do NOT use any adhesive to install the foam along the rear edge of the cartridge (B).

37. Install the drum unit cover and two screws for securing to the cartridge.
