ttendance was good at the Guaranty Wagoneers spring meeting. At the last rally, new officers were elected. Incoming and hardworking new chapter president, Ken Coleman, began the meeting by recognizing Linda and Jim Johnston for serving as officers and retiring chapter president. They were presented plaques in appreciation for their hard work and enthusiasm. Upcoming rallies include: • Glacier National Park, Mont., July 10-14, 2013: Ken and Gina Coleman are wagon masters. • Baker City, Ore., August 20-25, 2013: Ole and Lauretta Newman are wagon masters. Interested in joining the Wagoneers at these events? Call Barbara in the Guaranty Travelers office and she can connect you to the right parties.
The Norcal Ramblers hit the road to gather in Napa, Calif.
this last February. Kudos to Aletha and Derrell Decker and Jan and Dan McCarthy for hosting such a great rally. Traveling in trains built in 1915 and enjoying a gourmet dinner catching up with friends, made the meals as fun as the other activities. As you can imagine, the wine train dinner was a big hit. Another culinary highlight was a trip to In-N-Out Burger for an all American feast. Election of new officers were voted on and passed. • President – Dan McCarthy • Vice President – Derrell Decker • Treasurer – Hugh Robinson • Secretary – Sherry White • Membership Chair – Jan McCarthy
Make the Ore. Coast your summer rally adventure. Join us in Gold Beach on the spectacular southern Ore.
coast. The dates are Sept. 5-8, 2013. Turtle Rock Resort offers large, full hook up RV sites and a comfortable clubhouse for meals. The park sits along Hunter Creek looking out to the Pacific Ocean. Jet boat trips up the Rogue River are considered a must-do when visiting Gold Beach. We will be taking a 64mile river trip just as the Rogue River pioneers have done since 1895. This is a great scenic experience blending the history of the area with a little humor as we deliver the mail to Agness, Ore. We’ll enjoy our stop in Agness with a riverside lunch at Singing Springs Resort. Saturday brings us to the 6th annual Gold Beach Brew and Art Festival. This is the place to sample local microbrews, check out different arts and crafts, satisfy your appetite and enjoy or dance to live music. (continued page 6)

Fun in the Sunshine Recap
The Fun in the Sunshine Rally was an outstanding
event. The warm California sunshine mixed with new and old friends made for an exceptional time. The Guaranty Travelers utility trailer was the site of many happy reunions allowing people to catch up on each other’s travels during registration, not unlike the first day of school when the excitement is high and the anticipation of what is to come continues to build. Later, we gathered for a well-deserved happy hour and welcome dinner. We found it quite encouraging to introduce eight new couples who joined our rally group for the very first time. Each couple was given a flag holder and a bright new Guaranty Travelers flag to fly proudly on their coaches. After dinner, the entertainment became the dishwashing crew that had volunteered for K.P. duty. Not even a clogged disposal could stop their laughter as they scraped, scrubbed and dried. Monday morning, we gathered for a delicious breakfast and prepared for the putting contest. The course for the contest was definitely a little tricky. Most of the 25 entrants vying for the title of best putter found the wine decanter at the last hole to be quite challenging. Ken Coleman and Darlene Timm shared the hole in one award. The hole in one and out was awarded to Joe Fletcher and Jim Ronan. The lowest scores were earned by Otto Guiliani and Sally Hale. Even the non golfers who participated with the seasoned golfers enjoyed the friendly competition.

Gold Beach Rally (continued) The Rogue Ramblers Car Club will proudly be presenting their classic car show during this event; if sampling microbrews and walking through the car display isn’t enough, the Bike the Rogue bike race is being held on this very busy Saturday. There are three distance races offered: 25 mile ride, 40 mile ride and Century ride (100 Km). Each route follows the banks of the Rogue River in this spectacularly scenic and remote southwestern corner of Ore. The Rogue River is also known for its world class fishing. Ocean fishing is also outstanding in this area. We will arrange guided fishing trips for those interested. Of course, we’ll bring along some smiling service technicians to help you with any challenges you may be having. Cost for this rally of four nights and three activity days is $540 for two in a coach. You can find your application in this issue of “On the Road.” Buddies are always welcome. Need more than one application? Call Barbara in the Travelers office.

They found their way to Cabella’s World Headquarters in Sidney, Neb. and then headed to Laramie, Wyo. When arriving in Laramie, they found this Centrifugal Force Ice Beard had formed on their Monaco Diplomats wheel. They describe it as looking surreal.

2013 Sock Drive
O
ur totes overflowed with the sock contributions at the Fun in The Sunshine Rally. We collected 130 pairs of socks and more than 90 handmade stocking caps. What a great start for this year’s sock drive.
Welcoming Our 2013 First Time Attendees • Ben & Donna Barker from Bellingham, Wash. • Joe Bango & Mary Fiel from Williams, Ore. • Otto & Jan Giuliani from Twain Harte, Calif. • Frank & Janice Hasman from Cascade, Idaho • Harri & Trixi Kutzmarski from Mission Viejo, Calif. • Mark and Carol Rubin from Colfax, Wash. • Ross & Marie Turney from Hillsboro, Ore. • Loren & Eleanor Worm from Oakland, Calif.
Now to refresh your memory about the sock drive, we have been collecting socks to donate to Junction City Local Aid and the Eugene St. Vincent DePaul outreach. It’s hard to believe that many children attend school without having socks to wear. Many adults don’t have dry, clean socks to wear to a job interview. It’s a simple act of kindness to help people who are trying to better themselves. We salute all who have donated to our collection. Not able to attend a rally? Just drop them with a receptionist at service or in sales when visiting the dealership. It’s a small gesture that is greatly appreciated by those who receive these dry, clean items.
Emerald Desert Pet Parade Winners • Astro Drebick – Most dangerous tail • Bella Hale – Most flattering nickname • Bitsy Frye – Great travel companion • Blondie Kutzmarski –Trilingual dog • Joey Timm – Sweetest temperament • Metal Barker – Most original low maintenance pet • Mindy Fletcher – Most cordial friendly pet • Misty Johnston – Most queenly retired show pet • Ms. Pearl Woodring – Outstanding bling • Paqito Klefbeck – Smallest and oldest traveler • Rigby Moes – Shiniest coat • Rufus Ronan – Largest working dog, mistaken as a tow vehicle • Sadie Jordon – Most expensive medical pet • Sasha Jordon – Good buffalo scout
