2015-2016 ONTARIO BLACK BELT CHAMPIONSHIPS – JUNIOR & CADET DIVISIONS September 17, 2015 Dear OTA Members, The Ontario Taekwondo Association will be holding the 2015-2016 Provincial Championships on October 24 & 25 at Conestoga Athletics & Recreation Centre, 299 Doon Valley Drive, Kitchener, Ontario N2G 4M4. Please familiarize yourself with the amended procedures of the revised Provincial Team Trial process as summarized in this document on pages 6/7. Please note that there is only one Provincial Championship this season. Points from 2014-2015 event will be used to identify top point holders and seeding. This event will be utilizing the KP&P Protector & Scoring System, and e-Headgear.. Please ensure that all athletes in sparring divisions have their own latest version of KP&P sensor socks. Medical Support Team will be on site to treat injuries. Taping services will be offered at a cost of $5.00/taping. Only registered coaches will be allowed on the floor. THERE WILL BE NO COACH REGISTRATION AT THE VENUE. Coaches dress code will be strictly enforced. –no hats, jeans, open toed shoes or doboks. Athletic attire or business casual accepted.

Sparring Format • • • • • •
Double Elimination Three rounds of 90 seconds duration Full head contact, WTF rules in effect. Match will be stopped at a 12-point gap at the end of the 2nd round or any time during the 3rd round. IVR (Instant Video Replay) will be in effect. Athletes will have 1 video replay card per match for the event. Gold, Silver and Bronze medal will be issued for podium finish (1st, 2nd, 3rd place).
Athlete Eligibility • Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency • Holder of minimum 1st Dan Kukkiwon. If Kukkiwon has been applied for but not yet received, please indicate it on the registration with proof of submission as “In Process”. • Current registered OTA Black Belt member in good standing and must maintain this through the end of the competition season. • Member of OTA member club in good standing. Coach Eligibility • Must be at least 18 years of age by the event date. • Holder of minimum 1st Dan Kukkiwon. If Kukkiwon has been applied for but not yet received, please indicate it on the registration with proof of submission as “In Process”. • Coaching fees are waived for Certified Coaches (Dojang Coach certified and OTA Member Club in Good Standing) • (Coaches pending qualifications or in Trained status will pay registration fee per event.) Drawing of Lots – Sparring • Athletes who finished prior season ranked #1 and #2 in Ontario will be seeded in the #1 and #2 positions on the bracket if they are competing in the same category as prior season. • Remainder of the bracket will be drawn at random. Affiliation to the same club will be only done in the opening round of the bracket, when possible (ranking / seeding may make this impossible depending on number of athletes)

January 1, 2015-December 31, 2015 Ontario Provincial Championships All Taekwondo Canada Sanctioned Events Any 3 (Three) WTF Sanctioned “G” Rated Events
PURPOSE
To adapt an OTA point system considering athlete performance, and competition pool. Designed to minimize ties, and clarity of points, are based both on results and performance as well as competition pool of the divisions. Flexibility in varied formats and selected events. To closer align and as a tracking resource with Provincial Sport Organization’s Funding programs.(ie Quest For Gold, ONTop) Identify actively competing participants..
SELECTION EVENT AS “TEAM ONTARIO” (PROVINCIAL TEAM- CADET, JUNIOR, SENIOR & INDIVIDUAL RECOGNIZED POOMSAE)
Tournament will be held for the Ontario Provincial Championships for Cadet, Junior & Senior Sparring category, and Ontario Provincial Championships for Poomsae. Format will be double elimination. Open to all eligible athletes 2014 #1 and #2 ranked athletes in each division will be seeded accordingly on the bracket Remainder of the draw will be random. Athletes from the same registered club/team will be split in the first round of the draw only (when possible). Certificate and/or Awards will be issued for podium finish (1st, 2nd, 3rd place)
Points Procedure (Kyorugi) Awarding of Points for Ontario Provincial Events
2 points will be awarded for Participation (must pass weigh in ) 4 points will be awarded for each victory during the competition (including a bye). *Gold Medalist in uncontested divisions will have no advancement points) 10 points will be awarded for third-place finish (ONE athlete in sparring, ONE athlete in Poomsae). 20 points will be awarded for second-place finish (one athlete). 40 points will be awarded for first-place finish (one athlete). *G4 & above events awarded participation points as well as medal Performance points for National Team Members

2 points will be awarded for Participation. 4 points will be awarded for each advancement (if advancing Semi Final & Final Rounds.) 10 points will be awarded for third-place finish (ONE athlete in sparring, ONE athlete in Poomsae). 20 points will be awarded for second-place finish (one athlete).

Awarding of Points for Tournaments other than Ontario Provincial Events * OTA will attempt to monitor all international events. Breaking a Tie (Kyorugi) In the case of a tie in points in the same age category, podium results in the order stated below will be the first determining factor in breaking the tie. The second determining factor will be the number of victory matches to attain those podium results. The third determining factor will be the number of competitions entered in the competition season. If still tied after these factors, the higher point ranking athlete from previous years will be considered the deserving athlete: Podium results in the order stated here. 1.
