Configuration Guides
This guide will help you manually configure your iConnect 625W ADSL modem to connect to the Internet, then assist with configuring wireless security.
Before you start, there are some things you need to check:
- Does your computer have an Ethernet port? You need one to begin the configuration, even if you're going to use wireless. - Is your wireless network adapter or Airport card already installed? You need to make sure your wireless equipment is installed and ready to use first. - Is your computer configured correctly? Check our guides for Windows XP and Mac OSX. - Is your modem already configured? Your modem needs to be at "factory defaults" for this guide - you may need to http://support.hotkey.net.au

reset the modem if you've set it up before. - Is your computer running at least Windows XP SP2 or Mac OSX 10.3.9? This guide uses a newer wireless security method not available in previous versions of Windows or MacOS. Internet connection configuration
Step 1: Connect your modem to mains power and switch it on, then connect an Ethernet cable from one of the available Ethernet ports on the iConnect 625W to the Ethernet port on your computer.
Step 2: Load the modem's configuration screen in your browser (Internet Explorer if you're using Windows, Safari if you're on a Mac). The address you need to go to is http://192.168.1.254/. You should see the following login screen:

Step 3: You'll need to log in - the username is root, the password is 0P3N (username in lower case, password in upper case). You can also find these details on the base of the modem. Click Log In.
Step 4: Click the Setup tab up the top, then click on New Connection - you'll find it under WAN Setup on the far left hand side. Check the following details:

Wireless security configuration - modem
Step 1: Click the Wireless tab up the top, then click the Security menu option on the left hand side. In the Select an SSID and its security level: section, place a dot in WPA. The page will reload with the WPA options, like so:

Step 2: Toward the bottom, choose the Pre-Shared Key option, then enter a password of your choice in the PSK String: box.
This password must have letters and numbers, must be between 8 and 63 characters and should be something you can easily remember - otherwise you may have difficulties with setting up the wireless connection on your computer. An example of a good password you could use is your first name, followed by your telephone number (without spaces).
Once you've chosen and entered your password, click the Apply button.

Wireless security configuration - computer
Now that your modem is secured, the password you entered in to the modem earlier needs to be entered in to your computer so that your computer can connect via wireless. Here are instructions for Mac OSX and Windows XP.
Windows XP (SP2 or better):
Click Start, open the Control Panel. If it says "Pick a category" up the top, click the "Switch to Classic view" link in the topleft of the window. Click Network Connections. Ignore anything in the Dialup or Broadband sections - the connection to your modem will be in LAN or high-speed Internet.

Wireless network connections have an icon with an "antenna" at the bottom right, and will usually be called Wireless Network Connection. Right click on this icon and select View Available Wireless Networks. A window will appear asking you to choose a wireless network. Your iConnect 625W is the one called WLAN-AP-625W - select this network and then click the Connect button.
A window will appear, asking for a Network key: - enter the password you chose earlier on (the PSK String). Enter it again in the Confirm network key: box, then click OK. Wait for Windows to say it's connected, then close all windows down.
Open Internet Explorer - you should now be able to browse websites wirelessly!
Mac OSX (10.3.9 or better):
Open Macintosh HD, navigate to your Applications folder, then open the Internet Connect application.
Select AirPort from the options along the top. If the AirPort Power: shows as being Off, click the Turn AirPort On button. In the Network: dropdown, find and select WLAN-AP-625W.
Internet Connect will prompt you to enter a password - type the password in that you chose earlier (the PSK String). Tick the Show password and Remember password in my keychain boxes, then verify that the password you entered matches the PSK String you entered in to the modem earlier. Click the OK button.
Internet Connect will now configure the AirPort connection to your modem. Open Safari - you should now be able to browse websites wirelessly!
