(2) Specifications Table 4-7 Item Data transfer method Synchronous system Handshake Signal level Specification Description 8-bit parallel by externally supplied nSTROBE signal by nACK signal and Busy signal all signals are TTL compatible 2) Reverse Mode (printer → host machine communication) The transfer of status data from this printer to the host machine is implemented in Nibble or Byte Mode. [1] Outline This mode defines the data transfer from the asynchronous printer controlled by the host machine. The data transfer in Nibble Mode is implemented using the existing control line and the data is transferred by 4-bit (Nibble) unit. In Byte Mode, 8-bit data line is transferred by changing it to bidirectional. In each case, the communication cannot be executed at the same time as Compatibility Mode, so the communication becomes half-duplex. [2] Precautions The first "n" of signal name indicates "LOW" active signal. If even one signal above is omitted, the bidirectional communication cannot be performed. For each signal line for the interface, be sure to use the twisted pair line and connect the return side to the signal ground level. Every interface condition is based on TTL level and fulfills following characteristics. The rising and falling time of each signal should be 0.5μs. The data transfer by ignoring nAck signal or BUSY signal should not be implemented. If such a signal is ignored, the data may be discarded. The length of the interface cable should be minimum distance. - 33 - PMU2300ⅢSeries Product Specification 4.2.5 Description of Input/Output Signals 1) Input/Output Signals Description of Input/Output signals [1] Input/Output signals (Compatibility Mode) (1) Input signal to the printer Table 4-8 Input Signal DATA0 to 7 nSTROBE nINIT Input signal to the printer Function 8-bit parallel signal (positive logic) Strobe signal for reading 8-bit data (negative logic) Implements the reset using nINIT signal in Compatibility Mode (Can be disabled depending on the setting: MSW3-3) nSELECT IN nINIT 50ms or more Fig. 4-7 nINIT Input signal nSELECT IN Signal that sets "HIGH" when shifting to IEEE1284 mode (negative logic) However, the reset signal is invalid for nSELECT IN/1284-Active "H". - 34 - PMU2300ⅢSeries Product Specification (2) Output signal from the printer Table 4-9 Output signal from the printer Signal name Function nACK 8-bit data request signal (negative logic) BUSY Signal that indicates BUSY status of the printer № 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 SELECT nFAULT PE Status to be BUSY From Reset (including reset by NV memory write command, I/F signal and Test Print Command) or just after Power ON to Printer Ready status During Self Printing is performing Status of Input Buffer-Full (Refer to Buffer-Full Status) During Platen is Open During New Line operation by FEED Switch Waiting FEED Switch Depression at Macro Execution Status, Empty Paper Status, Error At the above status, 1 through 3, it will be BUSY regardless of memory switch setting.
