Indications for using the dental float for horses The teeth of the horse are perfectly adapted for his natural nutrition like leaves or grass. With the front teeth, the horse bites of the grass and scrunch it with the molars before swallowing. The teeth of the horses aren´t battered equally, due to domestication and the caused feeding with more and more „softer“ nutrition. The missing abrasion of teeth causes sharp hooks and edges. These hooks and edges leading to insuries and pain. (Picture 1). With this dental float has been developed to float these hooks and edges on the teeth easily. Description 2.1. Components Following components are available for the dental float SLIMLINE: Description Code Battery-powered Dental Float SLIM LINE complete unit Battery Mains adaptor / Charger Additional handle Power-Battery-Pack, incl. It is powered by a belt drive. An additional Power-Battery-Pack with a longer runtime is available. The total length of the float incl. battery is 875 mm. The weight is only 2200 g (Picture 2). Picture 2: Total length Dental Float for Horses The grit is done with a diamond-plated blade. The blade should be controlled in regular intervals on abrasion and if required exchanged. Please note: The worritis will be void if he float´s disassembled by unathorized personal. If a problem or a repair is needed it should to be returned to an authorized service center. Application 3.1 Charging Attention: Only use delivered Ni-Cd/Ni-MH – charger! Other charger will destroy the battery. The battery has to be attached to the charger in correct positional arrangement. A complete empty battery needs to be charged appx. 4 hours. There can be seen red LED on the charger during charging. As soon as the battery is fully charged the LED turn from a red light into green. Picture 3: Attachment of battery Attention: If the battery is broken or if there are disturbances the LED on the charger flashes. Remove the battery immediately off the charger. Important Indices for proper use with the NiMH-Battery: NiMH-Batteries normally don´t have the Memory-Effect. This means, if you charge the battery even if it´s not completely empty it doens´t mean a loss of capacity. However, this battery should be also well conditioned to reach the scheduled parameters. Because this battery-powered dental float demands high electricity, take care of: • This NiMH-battery is only for short-time excercise of the dental float (max. 35 min). For long-time exercise it is recommended to use the Power-Battery Pack Art.-Nr.178155 • Avoid in any case to much pressure with the dental float on the teeth. In that case it could happen that the consumption of power is above the average, which could discharge the battery within a few minutes. Further it could also damage the battery. To work always with max. r.p.m. please avoid in general a high pressure. • Stop immediately the use of the dental float if you recognize a decrease of the rotation speed. All further use destroys the battery due to deep-discharge. Check always before use the condition of the float blade. Page 4 of 4 Version 172 dd. 2005-03-01 Operation Manual Dental Float SLIMLINE Code178150 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is normal to recognize a certain heat developement on the charger and battery during charging.. It´s not possible to charge a NiMH-battery faster than with this delivered special charger. A well conditioned battery lasts appx. 500 charging cycles without loosing capacity. Please take care to follow the above mentioned indices. After the battery has been fully charged, it has to be attached to the handpiece in the correct positional arrangement (Picture 3). For further information please have a look at the following manual of the charger on the following pages. Picture 4: ON/OFF-Button 3.3 Floating The device is equiped with an overload protection. If a blockade of the plate occurs, the fuse is being activated automatically after appx. 4 seconds. The float can be used again after a short cooling down period. This overload protection/fuse is placed in the housing of the motor (Picture 5). Picture 5:Overload protection Page 8 of 8 Version 172 dd. 2005-03-01 Operation Manual Dental Float SLIMLINE Code178150 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The pressure on the tooth with the float should be not to tough. The rotation speed of the blade should not decrease substantially. There won´t be a higher abrasion if you increase the pressure on the tooth. Picture 6: Application 3.4 Saftey Instructions Before every use, please check the dental float on possible damage. After that start with the treatment. Please take care that the battery is always fully charged. This is important to avoid a total discharge. The rotation disc with blade should always move easily. If not please stop working with the device. (Picture 7). Replacement of the diamond disc: First there has to be removed the cover by loosen the screw. Next please remove the Torx-screw with the enclosed special screw driver. Picture 7: Rotation of the disc/blade Important: Please fix the rotation disc with pressure for an easier exchange. The disc is removed by hand after unscrewing the Torx-screw. Desinfection/ Cleaning The device has to be completely cleaning after every use. The cleaning of the disc/blade can be done with a small brush (picture 9) Picture 9: Cleaning of the disc/blade Because of electric parts in the handle of the dental float, it has to be taken care of during cleaning that the handle is not been exposed to any fluids. We recommend that the head of the dental float is plunged into the cleaning solution. Please take care that the solution compatible to the stainless steel housing. 5. Warranty The warranty of material and production mistakes is 2 years (valid invoice date). Damages which haven´t been caused by the manufacturer are excluded of the warranty. Examples are: natural abrasion, damage caused by inproper use or changes on the dental float which haven´t been done by the manufacturer or authorized service company.
