This Manual for users contains function and operation of the Instrument. In order to use the instrument properly, please read this manual carefully before using the Instrument. Keep it for later use when you meet with difficulties. Opening Check Please check the Instrument and Appendix with the packing list when you first open the instrument packing case. If you find there is something wrong with the Instrument and the Appendix, do contact the vendor or the producer. Safety Warnings and Guidelines 1. Important operation information of the security: Before the users’ operation, they should have a perfect conception of how to use the Instrument. Therefore, read this Manual carefully before using it. Operation before reading the Manual is forbidden. Read the guidelines and directions below and carry out the countermeasure according to them. 2. Security: The operation, maintenance and repair of the Instrument should comply with the basic guidelines and the remarked warning below. If you don’t comply with them, it will have effect on the scheduled using life of the Instrument and the protection provided. This product is a normal and an indoor Instrument. The operator should not open or repair the Instrument by himself, which will result in losing the qualification of repair guarantee or occurring accident. If there is some wrong with the Instrument, the company will repair it. A.C. power’s grounding should be reliable to safeguard against an electric shock. The 3-pin plug supplied with thermo-shaker’s power cable is a safety device that should be matched with a suitable grounded socket. During the normal operation, the temperature of metal block will be very high. There will be scald or boiling of the liquid. Therefore strictly prohibit any part of the body to touch the Instrument from scald. Close the test tube lids before put the test tubes into the block. Liquids maybe spill in the block or onto the device if tube lids opened, that will damage the block or the device. Before power on, guarantee the voltage used should be accordant to the voltage needed, and the rated load of electrical outlet should not lower than the demand. If the electric line is damaged, you should replace it with the same type. You should assure there’s nothing on the electric line and you should not put the electric line in the ambulatory place. Hold the jack when you pull out the electric line, and don’t pull the electric line. The Instrument should be put in the place of low temperature, little dust, no water and no sun or strong lamp. What’s more, the place should be good aeration, no corrosively gas or strong disturbing magnetic field, far away from central heating, camp stove and other hot resource. Don't put the Instrument in wet and dusty place. The vent on the Instrument is designed for aeration. Don’t wall up or cover the vent in order to keep from high temperature. If you use the more than one Instrument the same time, the distance between them should be more than 100cm. Mains switch is on the rear of the device, push “I” to power on the device, and push “O” to power off the device. Power off when you finish your work. Pull off the connector plug when there’s long time no use of the Instrument and cover it with a cloth or plastic paper to prevent from dust. Pull the connector plug from the jack at once in the following case, and contact the vendor:  There is some liquid flowing into the Instrument;  Drenched or fire burned.  Abnormal operation: such as abnormal sound or smell.  Instrument dropping or outer shell damaged.  The function has obviously changed. 3. The maintenance of Instrument The well in the block should be cleaned by the cloth stained with alcohol to assure good heat translation between the block and the test tube and no pollution. If there are smutches on the Instrument, clean them with cloth. Power off when cleaning the Instrument. When cleaning the well, don’t drop the cleaning liquid in the well. Corrosive cleaning liquid is strongly prohibited. It is applicable for DNA analysis, extraction of lipids and other cell components, DNA library creation, PCR amplification, pre-denaturation in electrophoresis, serum solidification etc. It is also the Thermo Shaker for microplates, PCR plate, deep-wells plate etc. Features of this product as follows:  2DMix-Control  Anti-spill technology  Reliable universal plate holder  LED display. You should be familiar with this chapter before the Thermo Shaker is first operated。 1. In the meantime, the cursor is in decimal digit of temperature flickering. In this time, pressing and to change the temperature value. Then, press “Set”, the cursor moves on the unit digit of speed flicking. By pressing and , the speed will change. Then, press “Set” again, the cursor moves on the final digit of timer flicking. By pressing and , the timer will change. -4- DBS-002 ` Chapter 3 Preparations Turbo MIX Press the key “Turbo Mix”, the light aside is on. The max. Speed can be set to 3000rpm for DBS-002. Press the key again, the light aside is off. The max. Speed can only be set to 1700rpm for DBS-002. Short Short-Mix function, shaking speed is the max. shaking speed for instrument. The time is counted in seconds until 999S has expired. P1 Program P1, when it runs, the light aside is on P2 Program P2 when it runs, the light aside is on 3. Insert Microplate and tube holder 4.1 Insert Microplate in the universal plate holder a) Place the plate up against the back of the plate holder firstly. -5- DBS-002 Chapter 3 Preparations b) Then press the plate into the plate holder. In doing so, ensure that it is properly engaged. 4.2 Insert the tube holder in the universal plate holder a) Hold the tube holder up against the back edge of the plate holder so that the engaging lugs fit in the holes. (See fig. a) b) Engage the tube holder by pressing gently on the front. (See fig. b) (a) (b) 4.3 Insert the thermal block in the universal plate holder a) Put the thermal block on the heating aluminum sheet. Fix M4 inner hexagon screw using clockwise rotation. (See fig. a) b) Insert heat holding cover into the universal plate holder. (See fig. b) The heat holding cover can be to use when the speed is less than 1500rpm. (a) (b) -6- DBS-002 Chapter 3 Preparations 5. Power connection Place the Thermo Shaker on a suitable work surface so that the air slots on the underside of the device are not blocked. Connect the device to the mains power supply via the mains power socket using the mains cable supplied. The external power supply unit (power adapter AC100-240V) ensures the external safety of the unit. -7- DBS-002 Chapter 4 Operation Guide Chapter 4 Operation Guide 1. Single temperature, speed and timing setting a) When the instrument powers on, display screen will show “ ” one by one. The instrument goes into the initial state with the sound of “du…” 888.8 8888 88:88 b) About 2 seconds later, the display window shows the former set temperature, shaking speed and timing time. For instancee, 73.0 is former set 73.0 2000 09:30 temperature; 2000rpm is former set shaking speed; 09: 30 is former timing time. The temperature unit is “℃”, the speed unit is “RPM” and the time unit is “hour:minute”. c) Press the key “Set”, the light aside is on, in the meantime the decimal digit of temperature is flikering. Then, pressing or 73.0 2000 09:30 ,the value of display windows for setting temperature will increase or decrease from decimal digit, unit digit, tens digit to hundreds digit. d) Press the key “Set”, the light aside is on, in the meantime the unit digit of speed is flikering. Then, pressing or , the value of display windows for setting speed will increase or decrease from decimal digit, unit digit, tens digit to hundreds digit. For instance, press the key and hold on for 2s, the digits will be moved from units to tens, increasing the alteration range. -8- 73.0 2000 09:30 DBS-002 Chapter 4 Operation Guide e) Press the key “Set”, the light aside is on, in the meantime the unit digit of time is flikering. Then, pressing or , the value of display windows for setting time will increase or decrease from unit digit, tens digit to hundreds 73.0 2000 09:30 digit. For instance, press the key and hold on for 2s, the digits will be moved from units to tens, increasing the alteration range. After 3seconds, the system will save the values automatically; in the meantime, it will be away from setting program. . f) If you want to set temperature 85℃, speed 2400rpm and timer 2hours, press key “Set”. decimal unit is flicking. Then by pressing “  ”, 85.0 2400 02:00 the value of temperature will increase to 85℃. In the same way, you can set speed 2400rpm and timer 2:00 hours. 2. How to shut off the temperature, speed According to the above operation, press the key “” until “OFF” shows, it means the function of temperature, speed and timing is shut off. Note: When timing time is “00:00”, it means that running time is ∞. 3. 85.0 2400 OFF 85.0 1700 023 Short Mix As long as the “Short” key is held down , the device starts to mix. When let go of the key “Short”, it stop mixing. When it Short Mix, it displays as right fig., 1700RPM is mixing speed, 023 is the time it has short mixed(it is 23s). The time is counted in seconds until 999 seconds has -9- DBS-002 Chapter 4 Operation Guide expired. Note: The Short Mix speed is the current max. speed you can set. 4. Preset program and connection function i) and P2 are the preset programs. When press the key P1/P2, the light aside is on. The temperature, speed and time show the parameter which is former set. The parameters can also be amended. Press the key “Start”, it runs the current set program. When press P1/P2 again, it exits the preset program, the light is off. ii) When press the P1 and P2 simutanously, P1 light is flickerking, and P2 light is on for long. By pressing the key “Start” again, the machine runs based on the P1 preset parameters. Then, it runs based on the P2 preset parameters. After running, P1 light is on for long; P2 light is flickering; it shows “OVER” in the display window with the sound of “du…”. 5.Turbo Mix function For DBS-002, when press Turomix key, the light aside is on; it means that the shaking speed heightens. It can be set the max. speed to 3000rpm. When press the key again, the light is off. It means that the shaking speed comes back the normal situation; the set max. speed is 1700rpm. 6.Temperature calibration The temperature of the Instrument has been adjusted before it is sold out. But if there is deviation between the actual temperature and the displayed temperature due to some reasons, you can do as follows to correct the error. Notes: The Instrument uses two temperatures adjustment to ensure its veracity. This means it is linearly adjusted on 40℃ and 100℃ two points. The temperature veracity will be within ±0.5℃ after the double temperature adjustment. Both the circumstances and the block temperature should be lower than 30℃. Adjustment methods as follows: - 10 - DBS-002 Chapter 4 Operation Guide a) After the startup of the Instrument, it enters waiting interface. Make sure the temperature in display is below 30℃. If the temperature is higher than 30℃, you should wait until the temperature is below 30℃, and operate it as follows. b) Inject olefin oil into one of the cone-shaped wells, and then put a thermometer into this well (Make sure the precision of the thermometer should be within 0.1℃ and the temperature ball should be absolutely immerged into the cone-shaped well). Now the “ ” in the time display means it has been in adjustment procedure; the temperature displayed is current temperature and begins to rise to 40.0℃ automatically. When temperature reaches to 40 ℃ , the decimal digit begins to flicker, waiting for the calibrated value of 40℃. Read out the actual value from the thermometer after 20 minutes. - 11 - 40.0 40.0 adJe 020 DBS-002 Notes: Chapter 4 Operation Guide Please read the actual value after 20minutes’ constant temperature to ensure the adjustment precision. If the actual readout value is 39.6℃, you can input 39.6 in the temperature display by pressing  or . Then press START/STOP to confirm the input value. d) After the confirmation the Instrument rises to 10℃ automatically. In the same way, the temperature reaches to 100℃ waiting for the adjustment. After 20minutes’ constant temperature you can read the actual value from thermometer and input to the temperature display. Notes: 39.6 100.0 023 adJe Please read the actual value after 20minutes’ constant temperature to ensure the adjustment precision. If the actual readout is 101.5℃, you can input 101.5 in the temperature display by pressing  or  . Then press START/STOP to confirm the input. e) After both of the temperatures have been adjusted, press  and  to escape the temperature adjustment interface and return to waiting interface. Notes: Press  and  contemporary during the adjustment to escape the adjustment procedure.
