The NextSTEP™ 1U High-Density Patch Panel is a major sub-system within the overall NextSTEP Technology™ solution, bringing new levels of flexibility, functionality and accessibility to highdensity fiber management systems. The NextSTEP 1U Panel’s modular design and building block configuration approach make it suitable for virtually any passive optical network application regardless of network size, network topology, installation environment, fiber type, or fiber termination methodology. The NextSTEP 1U Panel features an industry-first ‘stepped’ shelf design with the capacity to house up to twelve NextSTEP modules in any combination in any shelf position. The panel offers complete front and rear-panel access, and the stepped positioning of modules allows for easy physical and visual access to any individual cassette or splice tray module without disrupting other modules co-resident in the same panel. NextSTEP modules slide easily into any of the twelve stepped shelf positions within the chassis without the need for specialized tools, making initial deployment, subsequent MACs, and repair/restoral activities simple, fast and cost-effective. The NextSTEP 1U Patch Panel is available in three versions: • The ‘Standard’ version (NS-PP-W1U1) ships complete with front and back panel covers, installation hardware and Wirewerks’ industry-exclusive CableTree™ magnetic cable management sub-system. • The ‘Light’ version (NS-PP-W1U2) ships with installation hardware and the CableTree cable management sub-system; front and back panel covers are not included. • The ‘Lean’ version (NS-PP-W1U1L) is ideal for patching applications and ships with installation hardware; covers and cable management accessories are not included. The NextSTEP 1U Patch Panel’s modular design and building block configuration mean that each version may be quickly and easily field-upgraded - extending operational lifespan, reducing spares inventories, and increasing ROI. Any of the six types of NextSTEP modules may be installed in any of the 1U panel’s twelve shelf positions in any mix-and-match combination. Fiber counts in 1RU for typical configurations would include up to 144F using LC Patch modules; up to 288F using Splice Tray modules; and up to 1,152F using MPO Adapter Strip modules.
