Reliability comparison study Original HP ink cartridges proven to outperform Buyers Lab study on Original HP inkjet cartridges *Buyers Laboratory LLC, a leading independent authority on office equipment and provider of competitive intelligence, conducted a comparative study between Original HP ink cartridges and EMEA third-party refilled and remanufactured aftermarket cartridges to test their reliability and page yield. The results reveal that Original HP ink cartridges surpass rival products in both categories. Comparing cartridge reliability 60% 40% 50% 20% 0% 0% 14% 12% 27% 17% 14% HP cartridges Remanufactured Refilled cartridges Overall Non-HP cartridges Dead on arrival Premature expires Figure 1. During tests, Non-HP ink cartridges had frequent problems while HP cartridges worked every time without any problems. Original HP ink cartridges are more reliable and yield more pages than non-Original HP cartridges, according to a recent BLI study*, meaning you get the best out of your printer every time.1 100 percent reliability with Original HP ink cartridges Over 50 percent more pages with Original HP inks Manufacturers of non-HP cartridges may claim that their products are just as reliable as Original HP ink cartridges, but tests tell a different story. An ink cartridge should both run perfectly with every print and consistently deliver on page yield. More than 40 percent of the third-party ink cartridges failed, according to the BLI study, with 14 percent being dead on arrival and 27 percent expiring prematurely (Fig. 1).1 In stark contrast, Original HP ink cartridges worked every time. With Original HP inks, you don’t have to deal with the cost and frustration of faulty cartridges. Original HP ink cartridges produced, on average, almost 55 percent more pages than third-party ink cartridges in BLI tests.1 In other words, you would need to buy six non-HP ink cartridges to print the same number of pages produced by only four Original HP ink cartridges. Original HP inks give you your money’s worth. They delivered 19 percent more pages than remanufactured cartridges, but it was the cheapest non-HP Reliability comparison study | Original HP inkjet cartridges alternative, refilled cartridges, with a 67 percent failure rate, that were the worst performers.1 Original HP inks delivered 89 percent more pages than third-party refilled cartridges (Fig. 2).1 Comparing page yield 100% 89.80% 80% 60% Excellent quality prints with Original HP inks 54.60% 40% 19.30% 20% Remanufactured cartridges Refilled cartridges Overall Non-HP Average % more pages produced by HP compared to Figure 2. Most common problems with Non-HP Original ink cartridges that expired prematurely. Such problems were not reported with origin. Correct diagnostic page Original HP ink cartridges provide consistently high quality prints, putting an end to the extra costs and wasted time of faulty cartridges. Streaking was the most common reason for the premature expiry of black and colour remanufactured cartridges (Fig. 3), but this is just one of the problems that beset the third-party ink cartridges. Fading, leakage, incorrect colour mixing and electrical connection faults all contributed to the failure of non-HP ink cartridges (Fig. 4). Yet, not a single Original HP ink cartridge failed in the BLI tests, rendering reprints and premature replacements redundant.
