Important information about this Owner's Manual This Owner's Manual is provided for the Radio Blues (hereinafter referred to only as a device). This Owner's Manual describes all possible equipment variants without identifying them as special equipment, model variants or market-driven equipment. Consequently, this vehicle does not need to contain all of the equipment components described in these operating instructions. The images in this Owner's Manual are for illustrative purposes only. The illustrations can differ in minor details from your vehicle; they are only intended to provide general information. ŠKODA AUTO pursues a policy of ongoing product and model development with all vehicles. Changes in terms of supply scope are possible at any time with regard to design, equipment and technology. Introductory information Important information Introduction to the subject WARNING Concentrate fully at all times on your driving! As the driver, you are fully responsible for the operation of your vehicle. ■ Only use the device in a way that ensures that you are in full control of your vehicle in every traffic situation - there is a risk of accident!
■
WARNING Adjust the volume to ensure that acoustic signals from outside the vehicle, e.g. sirens from emerging vehicles instructing you to give way to, such as the police, ambulance and fire brigade, can be heard at all times. ■ An audio volume set too high may damage your hearing!

Enter code
› Switch on the radio with the ignition turned on. SAFE is displayed and then 1000.
› Enter the safety code using the function keys › Confirm the code by pressing the function key.

If an incorrectly entered code is confirmed, the procedure can be repeated once again. If the code number is entered incorrectly for the second time, the unit will be blocked for approx. one hour. It is possible to enter the safety code again after one hour has expired, while the device and the ignition have been switched on. The cycle (two attempts, blocked for an hour) will continue to apply.

WARNING Never leave an external device in the deployment area of the airbag, on a seat, on the dash panel or any another area from which it could be thrown during a sudden braking manoeuvre, a change of direction, an accident or a collision - risk of injury! ■ Never connect or disconnect an external device while driving - risk of accident! ■ Always route the connection cable of the external device such that is does not restrict you when driving.

Anti-theft protection Anti-theft coding The device is equipped with a convenience coding. If the device is being operated for the first time, the safety code is not only stored in the radio but also in the vehicle. After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, you must first switch on the ignition using the ignition key before switching on the device. You must enter the security code in order to use the device in another vehicle. In this case you will have to call on a specialist garage.

Switching the unit on and off
› Press the control switch
1 to switch the device on/off.
Switching on the device automatically If the device was not switched off by the control switch 1 before the ignition was turned off, this will automatically switch on after the ignition is turned on. Powering off the device automatically If the device is switched on and vehicle key is pulled out of the ignition lock, the device will switch off automatically. With the ignition off, the device will automatically turn off after approx. one hour.
Volume setting
› To increase the volume, turn the control switch 1 clockwise. › To reduce volume, turn the control switch 1 anticlockwise.
CAUTION High volumes can cause sound resonance in the vehicle. ■ When changing or connecting an audio source, this may cause sudden changes in volume. Reduce the volume before changing or connecting an audio source. ■
Care of the Display Dirt can be removed from the display by using a soft cloth and, if necessary, methylated spirits.

REG AUTO / REG OFF The unit attempts initially to set only alternative frequencies for the selected station. Turn on / off the search for regional related channels of the currently playing station when there is not enough signal. GALA Setting the speed-dependent volume adjustment. A higher setting value results in a stronger volume increase. LOUD Turn on / off gain of the range of low and high audio frequencies.

BEEP Switching on/off the tone signal when storing the radio stations. ONVOL Sets the maximum volume when the device is turned on. PDC AT Lowers the audio volume (e.g. radio volume) with activated parking aid. ▶ PDC ▶ PDC ▶ PDC ▶ PDC

Storing manually

Using the system Introduction to the subject The unit allows analogue radio reception of FM and AM frequencies. CAUTION For vehicles with window antennas do not stick foil or metal coated stickers to the window as this can lead to interference. ■ Car parks, tunnels, tall buildings or mountains can interfere with the radio signal even causing it to fail completely. ■
Select the broadcasting area and storage group
› Hold down the
key to change the broadcasting area.
Each broadcasting area has two storage groups - FM1 and FM2 or AM1 and AM2. There are 6 memory slots available for each of these groups.
› Hold down the
key to change the storage group.
Note If a radio station should broadcast RDS data information in the FM broadcasting area, then the name will be shown in the device display instead of the frequency of the broadcasting station.
Search for, save and select radio stations Manual search › Press / again to adjust the frequency of the desired radio station. Automatic station search / button. The device searches for the next radio station in the selected broadcasting area.
› Press the

button. The radio station of the selected broadcasting area will be played for a few seconds each. › This function is ended and the current station is played by pressing again.

TP traffic broadcast

FM broadcasting area If the radio station currently selected broadcasts traffic reports, then this will be shown in the display. If this does not transmit any Traffic Information , this is then displayed. AM broadcasting area and media menu While playing in the AM broadcasting area or in the media menu, the Traffic Information reception is carried out from the last selected station in the FM broadcasting area. With an activated function, the playing is interrupted during the traffic announcement. While searching for an appropriate station, TP SEEK is shown on the display.
WARNING The CD-player is a laser product. On its date of manufacture, in accordance with national / international standards DIN EN 60825-1: 2008-05 and DHHS Rules 21 CFR, Subchapter J, this laser product was classified as a class 1 laser product . The laser used in this class 1 laser product is so weak that there is no risk of danger when operated correctly. ■ This product is designed such that the laser is restricted to the inside of the unit. However, the installed laser could be classified in a higher class were the housing to be removed. For this reason, never remove the housing of the unit.

Introduction to the subject Requirements for the MP3 data and data carrier
▶ Data names must be no longer than 64 characters. ▶ The list structure is restricted to a depth of 8 list levels. ▶ Bit rate of 32 to 320 kbit/s.

Select the audio source
› By repeatedly pressing
, select the CD or AUX option as the audio source.
CD player Introduction to the subject Requirements for CDs ▶ CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW with a capacity of 650 MB and 700 MB. ▶ Standard ISO 9660 Level 2 and Joliet file system (single and multi-session).
CAUTION Be sure to remove the CD before you try to insert a new CD. Otherwise you can damage the drive inside the unit. ■ Insert into the CD drive only original audio CDs or standardised CD-R/RWs. ■ Do not stick anything to the CDs! ■ If the ambient temperature is too high or too low, the CD playback may not function properly. ■ Damp (condensation) may affect the device in cold weather or after showers. This can cause the CD to jump or impair the play function. Once the moisture has dissipated, playback is fully functional again. ■
Note It is possible that CDs protected by copyright may not be played back at all or only in certain circumstances.
Using the system
› If a CD is already inserted (the symbol is shown in the display), then press
to select the CD option as the audio source.
› If no CD is inserted, then this should be inserted into the CD slot
7 with the labelled side facing up until it is automatically drawn in. The play function will start automatically. › To eject, press the button. The CD is driven to the starting position. If the ejected CD is not removed within 10 seconds, it is retracted again for safety reasons.

Note After pressing , there is a delay of a few seconds before the CD is ejected. With uneven or unpaved roads playback jumps may occur.
Function SCAN This function plays all the tracks in succession for a few seconds each.

means you can select the following menus: CD (play CD content), FOLDER (play contents of the current folder), or PLAYLIST (play contents of the playlist). › Press the / key to select the previous/next track. › Press the key to end the function.
MIX function The function plays tracks in a random order.

key and turn the control switch 1 to select one of the following menu items.

OFF - the menu function is inactive CD - random playback of tracks on a CD FLD - random playback of tracks in a specific folder PLS - plays the playlist (folder of selected tracks from individual folders, which is stored on the CD). Is only displayed when a playlist is created for the replayed CD.

AUX input Introduction to the subject The AUX input (marked with the text) is located under the armrest at the front. The exact location of the input » Vehicle Owner´s Manual. The play volume of the external audio source can be adjusted via the control switch 1 . Depending on the connected audio source, the output volume on this source can be changed. You can also change the input sensitivity of the external audio source, » page 7, AUX, in order to adapt the play volume of the external audio source to that of the other audio sources or to avoid distortions. CAUTION The AUX input must only be used for external audio sources! If the audio source connected to the AUX input is powered, the sound may become disturbed. ■ When changing or connecting an audio source, this may cause sudden changes in volume. Reduce the volume before changing or connecting an audio source.

Note The 3.5 mm stereo jack plug is used for the AUX input. We recommend that you use extension cords from ŠKODA original accessories.

Using the system

means you can select the AUX option as the playback source. › Start playback on the external source.
An external audio source connected to the AUX input can be played in the car through the speakers of the device. However, it is not possibleto control this via the device.
