IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS Owner’s Manual OIL-FILLED SPACE HEATER MODEL AH-410 Please read and save these instructions. PLEASE READ AND SAVE THESE IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed in order to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury. Carefully read all of the instructions below before using this heater. 1. Read all instructions before using heater. 2. This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surface. If provided, always use handles when moving this heater. Keep combustible materials such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes and curtains at least 3’ (0.9 m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear. 3. Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended. 4. Always unplug the heater when not in use. 5. Do not operate the heater with a damaged cord or plug, if the heater malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return heater to authorized service facility for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair. 6. Do not use the heater outdoors. 7. This heater is not intended for use in bathroom, laundry areas and similar moist indoor locations. Never locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container. 8. Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners or similar items. Arrange cord away from high-traffic areas where it can be tripped over. CAUTION: This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). 9. To reduce the risk of shock,this plug is intended to fit only one way in a polarized outlet. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt to alter this safety feature. Doing so could result in an electric shock hazard. 10. This heater draws 12.5 A during operation. To prevent overloading a circuit, do not plug the heater into a circuit that already has other appliances working. 11. CAUTION: It is normal for the plug to feel warm to the touch; however, a loose fit between the AC outlet (receptacle) and plug may cause overheating and distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified electrician to replace loose or worn outlet. 12. To disconnect the heater, first turn controls to the OFF position, then remove plug from outlet. Never pull by the cord. 13. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater. 14. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surface, like a bed, where openings may become blocked. 15. A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in the areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored. 16. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. 17. CAUTION: Avoid the use of an extension cord because the extension cord may overheat and cause a risk of fire. However, if you have to use an extension cord, the cord shall be No. 14 AWG minimum size and rated not less than 1875 W. 18. The output of this heater may vary and its temperature may become intense enough to burn exposed skin. Use of this heater is not recommended for persons with reduced sensitivity to heat or an inability to react to avoid burns. SAVE THESE IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR REFERENCE. 1 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT OPERATE THIS HEATER WITHOUT THE LEGS ATTACHED (See Fig. 1). Fig. 1 CAUTION: To prevent electric shock, make sure the heater’s plug is fully inserted into an appropriate outlet. Make sure the surface beneath the heater is clean and free from debris or any obstructions. Placing this heater on high-pile carpeting or any other surface that impedes the flow of air underneath the heater is not recommended. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1.Connect the heater’s plug to a properly polarized A/C 120V household outlet in perfect working condition. 2.Press the power switch to “ ” (ON). Turn the thermostat knob clock wise to the position. 3.When your room reaches the desired temperature, slowly turn the thermostat knob counter-clockwise until you hear a clicking sound. This will automatically set your heater to cycle on and off at your desired heat setting. Please note that it will take approximately 15 minutes for the heater to reach operating temperature. 4.To change the temperature, turn the thermostat knob clockwise to increase the temperature or counter-clockwise to lower it. 5.To shut the unit off, press the power switch “ ” (OFF). 6.This heater is equipped with an overheat protection system that turns the unit off if it overheats. At this time, the CAUTION light will also turn on. If this occurs, turn the heater off and unplug it. Inspect the unit and remove any objects on or adjacent to the heater. Allow the unit to cool for a few minutes, plug it back in, and resume normal operation. 2 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS 1.Before maintaining or cleaning the heater, always unplug it from the outlet and allow it to fully cool. Wipe the heater clean with a soft, damp cloth and do not use any detergents or abrasive cleaners. 2.If the heater will not be in use for an extended period of time, wind the cord around the cord wrap and store the heater in a dry place. 3.This appliance has been built to ETL standards and specifications. However, in case of malfunction, do not attempt to repair the heater by yourself as this may result in fire or electric shock. 4.This heater is permanently sealed with oil. No oil changes are necessary. 5.This product is equipped with a polarized alternating current line (the plug has one blade wider than the other). This is a safety feature. The plug will fit into a power outlet only one way. If you are unable to fully insert the plug into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If it still fails to fit into the outlet, contact your electrician to have your outlet replaced. Do not tamper with the plug or outlet as this will defeat the purpose of this safety mechanism.
