USB 3.0 Device Cable • External Power Supply (Input: 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 1.2A; Output: 12V, 4A) • FNet CloneDrive Software CD • Owner’s Manual Product Features • Dual SATA docking station enables the connection of two 2.5” or 3.5” hard drives via a computer’s USB port. • Easy set-up eliminates the need for time-consuming internal installation and facilitates access to a hard drive’s contents. • Offline cloning functionality allows hard drive duplication with the touch of a button – a host computer connection is not needed. • An LED progress bar displays cloning status. • Included FNet CloneDrive software allows for hard drive duplication via a connected Windows® computer for added flexibility. • Supports USB 3.0 connections with data transfer rates up to 5Gbps. • Backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 standards. 14-02-169 93-32DB.indd 2 2 3/4/2014 1:58:05 PM System Requirements • (x2) 2.5” or 3.5” SATA Hard Drive. • Computer with an available USB port. Note: A USB 3.0 port is required to achieve maximum transfer speeds up to 5Gbps. Cloning functionality does not require the U339-002 to be connected to a computer. • Docking functionality compatible with Windows, Mac® and Linux® systems. • Online cloning software compatible with Windows only. • Offline cloning copies data from the master drive to the slave drive, leaving the remaining data unallocated. Windows computers will be able to reallocate the remaining data, whereas Mac and Linux computers will not. Docking Station Instructions Note: If your SATA Hard Drive has not been formatted yet, you will first need to format it using your computer’s Disk Management utility in order to copy and access files. 1 Connect the external power supply to the U339-002 docking station. Then, plug the external power supply into a Tripp Lite Surge Protector, Power Distribution Unit (PDU), or Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) (additional Tripp Lite items sold separately). 2 Insert your 2.5” or 3.5” SATA Hard Drive into one of the docking station’s available bays. When inserting the SATA Hard Drive, make sure that it is securely seated on the SATA connector. Repeat this step to connect an additional hard drive. 3 Connect the included USB 3.0 cable to your computer and the docking station. 4 Turn on the power to the docking station using the switch on the back of the unit. The green POWER LED will illuminate to indicate that power is being received. The blue “A” and “B” DISK LEDs indicate that a hard drive is connected to its respective port. The blue DISK LED will blink while the connected computer recognizes the hard drive, and then turn solid once the hard drive is available for use. 3 14-02-169 93-32DB.indd 3 3/4/2014 1:58:05 PM Offline Cloning Instructions Note: • If your SATA Hard Drive has not been formatted yet, you will first need to format it using your computer’s Disk Management utility before proceeding with cloning. • The Slave Drive’s (“B” bay) capacity must be equal to or larger than the Master Drive’s (“A” bay) capacity. A manufacturer’s stated hard drive capacity is not always the same as its actual hard drive capacity, so it is important to first reference your hard drive’s actual capacity before attempting the cloning process. • Prior to cloning, make sure there is no important data stored on the Slave Drive. Once cloning begins, all data on the Slave Drive will be deleted and replaced with the cloned data from the Master Drive. • Offline cloning copies data from the Master Drive to the Slave Drive, leaving the remaining data unallocated. Windows computers will be able to reallocate the remaining data, whereas Mac and Linux computers will not. 1 Connect the included external power supply to the U339-002 docking station. Then, plug the external power supply into a Tripp Lite Surge Protector, Power Distribution Unit (PDU), or Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) (additional Tripp Lite items sold separately). 2 Insert the 2.5” or 3.5” SATA Master Hard Drive (the drive that you want to clone) into the docking station’s “A” bay. 3 Insert the 2.5” or 3.5” SATA Slave Hard Drive (the drive that the cloned data will be copied to) into the docking station’s “B” bay. 4 Turn on the power to the docking station using the switch on the back of the unit. The green POWER LED will illuminate to indicate that power is being received. The blue DISK LEDs indicate that a hard drive is connected to its corresponding port and ready for cloning. 14-02-169 93-32DB.indd 4 4 3/4/2014 1:58:05 PM Offline Cloning Instructions 5 Press and hold the CLONE button for approximately 3 seconds. When the blue 100% LED in the progress bar illuminates, release the CLONE button. 6 While the blue 100% LED is still illuminated, press and release the CLONE button again. The blue 25% LED in the progress bar will blink to indicate that cloning is taking place. The progress bar LEDs will then display a solid blue light next to one of the four corresponding percentages to indicate the cloning completion status. 7 When all of the progress bar’s LEDs are illuminated solid blue, the cloning process is complete. Online Cloning Instructions Note: • If your SATA hard drive has not been formatted yet, you will first need to format it using your computer’s Disk Management utility before proceeding with cloning. • The Slave Drive’s (“B” bay) capacity must be equal to or larger than the Master Drive’s (“A” bay) capacity. Once cloning begins, all data on the Slave Drive will be deleted and replaced with the cloned data from the Master Drive. • Prior to cloning, the FNet CloneDrive software must be installed on your computer. Insert the FNet CloneDrive software CD provided with the U339-002 docking station into your computer’s CD- or DVDROM drive. Then open the .exe file on your computer and follow the prompts to complete installation. When asked to enter a serial number, use the serial number provided on the FNet CloneDrive’s CD insert cover. 14-02-169 93-32DB.indd 5 5 3/4/2014 1:58:05 PM Online Cloning Instructions 1 Connect the external power supply to the U339-002 docking station.
