Owner’s Manual DR. CHORD CHORDFINDER • TUNER • TONGENERATOR Product description Dear customer, thank you for choosing our Dr. Chord. It includes 240 most commonly used guitar chords, providing a very convenient way for you to find the finger position on the guitar finger board. The chromatic tuner function enables you to tune your guitar in just a few minutes. Please read this manual carefully before using this product. Only operate the product according to this manual. Please keep it for future reference. CAUTION! XXDo not open the casing for any reason as this may cause short circuit or malfunction of the product. XXDo not apply excessive force to the product, its buttons and controls. In the event of the product suffering breakage, be careful not to hurt yourself with the broken pieces. XXDo not let get any liquid nor foreign object into the device. XXKeep unit away from dust and dirt, extreme temperatures, humidity, and strong magnetic fields. XXWhen the unit is not in use for a long period of time, remove the battereis to prevent leakage. XXPlease use a clean, soft and dry cloth to clean the device. All parameters will be displayed on the LCD. Press this button again to turn the device off. The power will be turned off automatically 5 minutes later if the unit has been left unattended. 3 zzCHORD SEARCHING OPERATION INSTRUCTION 1. Select chord mode Press button q to switch on the unit. Then press the MODE select button w to select chord mode. In chord mode, the LCD will display ( ) at position “A”. 2. Chord searching setting It takes 3 steps to get your desired chord simply and fast. (1) Chord root setting You can choose from C to B as the chord root (12 notes in total) by pressing button e. The chord root you select will be displayed at position “B” in the LCD. (2) Chord type I You can choose among “maj”, “min”, “sus”, “aug”, and “dim” by pressing button r. The chord type you select will be displayed at position “C” in the LCD. Please refer to the table below for detailed chord settings. (3) Chord type II You can choose among chord 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, and 13 by pressing button t. The chord type you select will be displayed at position “D” in the LCD. Please refer to the table below for detailed chord settings. Hand set and display Keep the HAND SET button w pressed for about 2 seconds, to choose left hand chord or right hand chord. The result of your selection will be displayed at position “E” in the LCD. Dr. Chord displays as shown in the picture to the right. For right hand chord, the empty guitar string order from left to right is 6E, 5A, 4D, 3G, 2B, 1E. For left hand chord, the empty guitar string order is the same, but from right to left. The black dots in the picture show the finger position on the guitar finger board. “0” stands for “empty string”, “x” stands for “not playing”. zzTUNER OPERATION INSTRUCTION 1. Select tuner mode Press button q to switch on the unit. Then press the MODE select button w to select tuner mode. In tuner mode, the LCD will display ( ) at position “A”. 2. Select tuning with mic or using the input jack When tuning using the built-in microphone, no plug may be inserted in the input jack y. Otherwise the mic will not work. 5 Please try to move the sounding part of the instrument and the Dr. Chord as close together as possible, to achieve best tuning results. When tuning using the input jack y, please connect the input plug with the electrical instrument to be tuned. This will switch off the built-in mic. 3. Calibration The calibration buttons e and r are used to adjust the frequency of A4 up or downwards. Every time you press this button, the frequency of A4 will increase or decrease within the adjustable range from 430 Hz to 450 Hz. Keeping one of these buttons pressed will automatically increase or decrease the frequency continuously. The selected A4 frequency will be displayed at position “D” in the LCD. 4. How to tune When tuning, pick a string of the guitar. The note name of the tone will be displayed at position “B” in the LCD. If the note name is not correct, adjust the tension of that string to tune it up to the correct note. At the same time, the needle in the LCD will move accordingly. When the tone is too low ( ) or too high (#) the corresponding LED indicator i will light up red. When the note is tuned correctly, the LED i will light up green and the LCD needle will be at its centre position. zzTONE GENERATOR OPERATING INSTRUCTION 1. Select tone generator mode Press button q to switch on the unit. Then press the MODE select button w to select tone generator mode. In tone generator mode, the LCD will display ( ) at position “A”. 2. Calibration The calibration buttons e and r are used to adjust the frequency of A4 up or downwards. Every time you press this button, the frequency of A4 will increase or decrease within the adjustable range from 430 Hz to 450 Hz. Keeping one of these buttons pressed will automatically increase or decrease the frequency continuously. The selected A4 frequency will be displayed at position “D” in the LCD. 6 3. The reference note name can be selected by pressing button r and t. The note name range is 4C ~ 4B. zzBATTERY CHANGING INSTRUCTION When the batteries run out of power, the LCD will become darker. If that occurs, you need to change the batteries. Before changing the batteries, please turn off the device. Then open the battery compartment cover, take out the exhausted batteries and replace them by 2 fresh ones of same specs (1,5 V, AAA size). Insert them according to the polarity chart inside the compartment. Otherwise the unit will not work and might be damaged. If you won’t use the device for a longer period of time, please take out the batteries to avoid leakage. zzUSING THE STAND If you want to put the unit on a table to have a better view, you can open the stand according to the above picture.
