Patient Telemonitoring Instructions Indications for Use The Honeywell HomMed Genesis Touch System is designed to retrospectively monitor vital signs. Vital signs include noninvasive blood pressure, pulse oximetry, pulse rate, weight and manually entered temperature. The Genesis Touch System collects, displays and transmits vital signs measurements captured from commercially available FDA cleared wireless medical devices designed for home use. Collected measurement data from the Genesis Touch System can be transmitted via a communication module to a central viewing station where the data can be viewed and analyzed by a healthcare professional. The Genesis Touch System is intended for home use by adult and pediatric patients over twelve years of age or in a healthcare related environment by healthcare providers.
Contra‐Indications The Genesis Touch monitor is not an emergency medical response device. The monitor does not have auditory or visual alarms for out-of-limit parameters. The Genesis Touch monitor does not provide real-time, critical-care monitoring of patient vital signs. All data is transmitted to your monitoring platform (LifeStream™) and examined retrospectively by qualified health professionals.
Safety Information Read and observe all the safety information in this manual before you use the Genesis Touch to prevent injury to yourself or damage to any equipment. The following safety information applies to the Genesis Touch:

The Genesis Touch is not an emergency medical response device.The monitor does not have alarm capability. • The Genesis Touch does not provide alarms or real-time, critical-care monitoring of your vital signs. All data that is transmitted to your care provider will be evaluated by qualified care providers at a later time. The monitor should be used only by the patient for whom it is intended. • Transmission of vital signs belonging to someone other than the patient can cause inaccurate information to be provided to the care provider, which could lead to improper treatment. ELECTRICAL SHOCK • Components contain sufficient voltage to cause death or serious injury. • DO NOT immerse in water or other liquid. • DO NOT disassemble. • Electrical components contain sufficient voltage to cause death or serious injury. • DO NOT autoclave. • DO NOT sterilize with ethylene oxide. • DO NOT spray cleaners on or into the unit. • UNPLUG before cleaning, disinfecting, or performing any maintenance. • For service, call Honeywell HomMed Customer Service. EXPLOSION HAZARD • Unit is powered with electricity and could ignite highly flammable gases. • DO NOT use device in presence of explosive or flammable anesthetic agents. NOT A NEONATAL UNIT • Using the Genesis Touch on infants or small children could cause serious injury. • DO NOT use the monitor, temperature probe, blood pressure cuff, or any monitor accessory on infants or small children. NOT DEFIBRILLATOR PROOF • Using the Genesis Touch on patients undergoing defibrillation may damage the monitor or peripheral equipment. DO NOT use the monitor on patients undergoing defibrillation. PHYSICAL HAZARD • Exercise care in the routing of external cables, wires and hoses to avoid creating a tripping hazard. DO NOT route cables across a walkway.

DO NOT use an electrical wall outlet controlled by a light switch. USE ONLY HOMMED AUTHORIZED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT • Attaching unauthorized equipment to the Honeywell HomMed Genesis Touch may cause damage or equipment failure, including increased emissions or decreased immunity of the monitor. • Do not use any AC adaptor other than the one that came with the Genesis Touch monitor. Do not attempt to connect any device other than those indicated in this document to the Genesis Touch monitor. EXPOSURE TO RADIO FREQUENCY RADIATION • USA - FCC: This device must not be located or operated in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. • Canada - IC: The installer of this radio equipment must ensure that the antenna is located or pointed such that it does not emit RF field in excess of Health Canada limits for the general population; consult Safety Code 6, obtainable from Health Canada’s website www.hc-sc.gc.ca/rpb. SENSITIVE EQUIPMENT • The monitor contains sensitive components. Liquids or chemicals will seriously damage the unit. DO NOT autoclave or sterilize with ethylene oxide. • DO NOT place on or near a heat source (e.g., stove, fireplace, heater, heat vent, etc.). • DO NOT immerse any equipment in liquid. If liquid is spilled on the monitor, or it the unit has been dropped or damaged, contact your care provider. • Liquid spilled on the monitor may cause damage to the monitor and may present a safety hazard to the user/patient. Should the monitor become wet, disconnect the power cord, wipe off all moisture and allow sufficient time for drying before re-connecting power and operating the monitor. Contact your care provider for more information. BLOOD PRESSURE HOSE DAMAGE • Bending, kinking, or otherwise restricting the blood pressure hose can damage the hose or interfere with readings. • DO NOT bend or crimp blood pressure hoses. Keep hoses free from furniture or other objects that could compress them. ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATABILITY • Electromagnetic compatibility of electrical equipment at very close distances to the monitor has not been evaluated. • DO NOT use the Genesis Touch monitor adjacent to or stacked with other equipment (e.g., television, microwave).If it is necessary to do so, observe the monitor and verify normal operation prior to use. TOUCH SCREEN DAMAGE • Do not use sharp or pointed instruments as they may permanently damage the monitor’s screen. Use your fingers to press the monitor’s screen. • Be sure to have a firm grip on the monitor at all times. Do not operate on your lap.Use monitor stand for stability. • If monitor is dropped, broken glass could pose a hazardous condition. INCORRECT AC POWER RATINGS CAN DAMAGE MONITOR • Incorrect AC power ratings could damage the monitor. • Verify that the AC ratings noted on the power supply label match the power supply. If they do not match, do not use the monitor. Contact your care provider. CHOKING AND TRIPPING HAZARD • Some parts may present a choking hazard. Use only as instructed. • Place all cords out of the way to avoid a tripping hazard. INCORRECT CONNECTION SEQUENCE CAN DAMAGE MONITOR • Incorrect connection sequence when applying power could damage the Genesis Touch monitor.

Blood pressure measurements may not be representative if you are experiencing mild or moderate to severe arrhythmias. Ability to obtain blood pressure measurement may be impacted if you have tremors. Any condition that restricts blood flow, such as use of a blood pressure cuff, extremes in systemic vascular resistance, or low perfusion may cause an inability to determine relevant pulse. Performance with common arrhythmias, such as atrial or ventricular premature heartbeats or atrial fibrillation, has been verified by use of a patient simulator.
Blood Oxygen • • • • •
SpO2 is not for continuous monitoring (no alarms). The presence of high ambient light may adversely affect SpO2 measurements. Shield the sensor area as necessary. If you wear fingernail polish or false nails, SpO2 measurements may be adversely affected. If necessary, remove polish or false nails to obtain a reading. Dyes introduced into the bloodstream, such as methylene blue, indocyanine green, indigo carmine, patent blue V (PBV), and fluorescein, may cause an inability to determine relevant SpO2 readings. Significant levels of dysfunctional hemoglobins, such as carboxyhemoglobin or methemoglobin, will affect the accuracy of the SpO2 readings.
Weight Measurement •
The Honeywell HomMed and the A&D scales are not stand-alone devices. The scale must be paired with a Genesis Touch System to operate.
Equipment Operation • • •
Dashes displayed in any parameter indicate the measurement is invalid or unavailable. The presence of strong EMI or RF sources, such as electrosurgery equipment may adversely affect operation of this device. The presence of computed tomography (CT) equipment may be adversely affected the operation of this device.

Time for vital signs
Overview Before you use the Genesis Touch, it must be customized to your specific needs. Your care provider will define the vital signs that should be taken and how frequently they will be taken.
Handling Spills If you spill liquid on the monitor or scale: • • • • •
Unplug the monitor from the wall outlet. Wipe up the spill with a clean, soft cloth. Let the monitor dry completely. Notify your Home Care Agency you have disconnected the monitor. Once completely dry, plug the monitor back into your wall outlet.
Call your health care provider right away if: • •
The spill was more than a few drops. Liquid seeped inside the unit.

Understanding the Genesis Touch Monitoring System When the Honeywell HomMed Genesis Touch Monitoring System is part of your overall health plan, the system may help you live a more active lifestyle and reduce emergency department visits and unnecessary hospital stays. You may or may not have all the accessories mentioned in this document. Your care provider will set up your monitor with the accessories that you need. The Genesis Touch Monitoring system may include the following: • • • •
Monitor Scale (optional) Blood pressure cuff (optional) Finger sensor (optional)
The Genesis Touch System has several purposes. It: • • •
Empowers you to take an active part in the management of your healthcare. Enables you to log and track your vital signs. Provides you with the security of knowing that your data is being viewed regularly by your health care providers.
Understanding How the Monitor Functions The monitor guides you visually, with easy to read text prompts, and audibly through each monitoring session. Note:
The volume of the voice prompts is adjustable. If you have trouble hearing the prompts or if the prompts are too loud, refer to Adjusting Brightness and Volume in this document for more information.
The monitor runs through prompts similar to the following cycle, depending on what is programmed for you: • • • • • • •
Programmed questions. SpO2 (oxygen saturation). Blood pressure. Weight. Blood pressure. Temperature. Reminders.
When the cycle is complete, the monitor thanks you for completing your vital signs tests. Prompts are separated to allow you ample time to perform the requested task. If you don’t complete the request within the allowed time frame, the monitor repeats the prompt up to three times or until a valid reading is attained. If the monitor doesn’t get a valid reading for an enabled vital sign or peripheral device, it indicates that no value was received for that vital sign or peripheral device. After the monitor collects your information, it sends it to your health care provider. The entire process takes only a few minutes and all of your information is confidential.

Before You Begin
Before You Begin Be sure to use the Genesis Touch monitor where it can successfully measure vital signs and transmit results and ensure there is enough room for peripheral devices to be attached and used easily. Consider the following: • • • • • •
Choose an accessible place to encourage daily use. Place the monitor on a flat, stable surface where you can sit comfortably at rest for readings. Select an area that allows free flow of air around the monitor. Place the scale on a flat, stable surface where you can easily stand on it and will not need to move it. Ensure that you can easily reach any peripheral devices. Ensure that a bed, chair, or other seating is readily available.
Avoid: • • • •
Placing equipment near sources of water, such as sinks or bathtubs. Placing on or near a heat source (stove, fireplace, heaters, heat vents, etc.) or in direct sunlight. Using an electrical wall outlet controlled by a light switch. Placing the monitor on top of, or next to, electrical equipment. If placing the monitor next to an electrical device is unavoidable, verify that the monitor works properly in that location.
Understanding the Monitor Place the monitor on the stand or on a flat, stable, and uncluttered surface where seating is available. A location near a window on an outside wall usually works best for transmission purposes. The monitor can be run on batteries, just as a cellular phone does. To charge the batteries, plug the monitor into an electrical outlet via the AC power adapter. IMPORTANT: We recommend that you have the monitor plugged in while using.

Understanding the Monitor Powering the Monitor The Genesis Touch Monitor is a touchscreen tablet. It can run on either the internal rechargeable batteries (not removable) or through an AC adapter that plugs into an electrical outlet. IMPORTANT: We recommend that you have the monitor plugged in while using. To turn the monitor on: 1. Press and hold the Power button on the top side of the monitor until the Samsung name appears, then release the button. A Lock screen similar to the following appears:

If your care provider has not set up educational information and/or video for you, the Education and/or Video buttons will not appear on your screen. Also, if there are no vitals scheduled, there will be no Next Scheduled Reading message.
IMPORTANT: If you inadvertently press the Power button and the monitor goes to sleep (black screen), press and release the Power button. The Lock screen appears. Unlock the screen. The Vitals Now/Home screen appears.
Adjusting Brightness and Volume You have the ability to adjust the brightness and volume of your monitor. Note:
You can also adjust the volume during use, by pressing the volume button on the side of the monitor.
To adjust the brightness and volume: 1. From the Vitals Now/Home screen, select the settings icon ( appears:

3. To increase the brightness or volume, place your fingertip on the light bulb or speaker icon and slide your finger to the left to decrease brightness or volume or to the right to increase brightness or volume. 4. Select the back icon. The Settings screen appears.
Taking Vital Signs The Genesis Touch provides two options for taking vital signs. Vital signs can be scheduled so that you are prompted, at a specific time of day selected by your care provider, to take your vital signs, or you can initiate collection of your vital signs manually. Before you take the first set of vital signs, ensure that you know how to use each piece of equipment. If you have any questions about how to take your vital signs, contact your care provider. If you want to take your vital signs manually, go to Taking Vital Signs Manually.
Responding to Scheduled Vitals When it’s the time for which your vital signs are scheduled, the monitor wakes up and tells you that it’s time to take your vital signs and a screen similar to the following appears:
1. Press the Forward button to initiate vital signs collection. You will be prompted through the process.

Questions and Reminders When questions have been configured as part of your vital signs acquisition, the monitor asks you to answer a series of health related questions selected by your care provider:
Select either Yes or No in response to the question. If more questions are configured, the next question appears. When the questions are completed, the monitor continues to the next vital signs acquisition.
Taking Blood Oxygen 1. If the monitor prompts you to take your Blood Oxygen reading, press the power button on top of the oximeter as shown:

Taking Vital Signs 2. Place the oximeter on your middle finger with the display on top and keep it there until a reading is acquired. A screen similar to the following appears:
Note:
Open the finger sensor by gently squeezing it the same way you would open a clothespin.
As the oximeter is searching for a reading, a screen similar to the following appears:
When the reading has been attained, a screen similar to the following appears:

Dark finger nail polish or false nails may interfere with the reading. If you cannot get a reading, remove finger nail polish and try again.

When it has attained a blood pressure reading, the cuff deflates and a screen similar to the following appears:

Taking Vital Signs Collecting Weight If the monitor prompts you to step on the scale, a screen similar to the following appears:

2. Follow the directions on the screen and step on the middle of the scale and stand as still as possible so that the scale can get a reading. A screen similar to the following appears:
Note:
You must be able to stand on a scale without support for the time it takes the monitor to collect your weight -- approximately three seconds without movement. CAUTION: Personal Injury Hazard Weight placed on the edge of the scale may cause the scale to tip and cause you to fall. Do NOT step onto or attempt to stand on the edge of the scale.

Recording Your Temperature 1. If you are prompted to enter your temperature the following screen appears, type the temperature reading from your thermometer and press the forward icon:

Taking Vital Signs After several minutes, the following screen appears letting you that you have completed your vital signs:
A screen similar to the following appears with a Transmission Successful message at the bottom after the transmission has been made:
Touch the screen or press the back button. The Vitals Now/Home screen appears.
Education If your care provider has programmed educational content for you regarding your health condition, this information will automatically play at the end or your vital signs acquisition. You can go back at any time to re-listen to the educational information by selecting the Education icon on the Home screen of your monitor. If no education icon appears on the home screen, there is no educational information for you to review.

Patient Telemonitoring Instructions Viewing Education If education is set up for you, you can view it at any time: 1. On the Vitals Now/Home screen, select Education. A screen similar to the following appears showing questions that were selected for you and have education associated with them:
2. Select the question for which you want to see education by touching the question with your finger tip. The education for that question appears on a screen similar to the following:
Taking Vital Signs Manually You can send vital signs to your health care provider at any time. You do not have to wait for a scheduled report time. You would normally use this feature if the monitoring care provider requests that you repeat a test. Remember that vital signs may only be reviewed during the day, so if you send a reading in the middle of the night, your health care provider may not look at the reading until much later. This is not an emergency response device. Before you take the first set of vital signs, ensure that you know how to use each piece of equipment. If you have any questions about how to take your vital signs, contact your healthcare provider.

This option should only be selected when your care provider asks you to re-take vital signs or you are taking them for your information only.

5. If your care provider has asked you to retake your vital signs, select Yes and your vitals signs will be sent to the care provider when you have finished. If you are just taking your vital signs for your own information, select No and your vital signs will not be sent to your care provider. 6. Take your vital signs as you would if they were scheduled. Refer to Taking Vital Signs for more information.
