PAC0548 PASSIVE INFRARED PIR PAC0548 Passive Infrared PIR with Light Level Sensor Low Voltage Wall Mount and Ceiling Mount Energy saving lighting control for schools, conference rooms, stairways and office cubicles DESIGN AND FUNCTION The PAC0548 occupancy sensor uses ambient light levels and occupancy to turn lighting on and off. Using the light level feature, lights can be prevented from turning on as long as there is sufficient ambient light. Utilization of passive infrared (PIR) sensing technology enables the sensors to respond to moving infrared energy (body heat) and turn lights on. Once the coverage area is unoccupied and the time delay ends (from 4 minutes to 17 minutes), lights will go out. Sensors need direct access to detect movement of an occupant. Strategic sensor placement is important. Therefore, avoid placing the sensor where a barrier could block direct detection. The PAC0548 functions at 24VDC. It should be installed on a light fixture or flat surface within 6 feet of a related power supply. The power supply for this PAC0548 sensor is a PAC0470P power pack mounted inside a light fixture. A maximum of 4 fixtures can be used at 120 VAC, and a maximum of 2 fixtures at 277 VAC. The PAC0548 is equipped with a multi-cell, multi-tier Fresnel lens that has a complete 360° viewing range. The lens is formatted to sense small motion when placed within 10’ of occupants. THE LIGHT LEVEL FEATURE IS PRESET AT THE FACTORY AND IS NON-ADJUSTABLE. COVERAGE PATTERN Density and range of the coverage pattern is determined by mounting height. The PAC0548 has a multi-cell, multi-tier Fresnel lens with a view of 360º. This lens is designed to detect small motion when mounted within 10’ of occupants. Coverages shown in the diagrams below are maximum. They represent full-step walking motion, with no barriers or obstacles. When mounted at a height of 8’, the coverage area is approximately 20’ in diameter.
