Safety, reliability, and durability are the prime concerns, from conception to final assembly. ◗ PAG uses premium grade cells which have been extensively tested to ensure excellent cycle life and capacity. ◗ The low-resistance inter-cell nickel strapping and cell layout are constructed to optimize current sharing, reducing one of the common causes of cellimbalance. ◗ High-impact, injection-moulded polycarbonate, or medium impact ABS cases incorporate integral cradles for protection of the cell-pack.

◗ PAG battery cases embody non-slip design features for secure handling. ◗ The internal circuits of PAG Li-Ion batteries are coated with Parylene, the premier conformal coating, to protect circuits against the results of severe mechanical abuse to the cell pack. From a safety viewpoint PAG believes this coating to be an essential additional level of protection, and yet other manufacturers fail to address this. ◗ PAG Li-Ion batteries have a higher safety standard than those of other manufacturers. They are protected against: over and under voltage, over current (charge and discharge), over and under temperature, and inappropriate charge sources. Each protection feature has a back-up. ◗ PAG L95 Li-Ion batteries have built-in RF resistance and are therefore less likely to shut-down in the field than competitors batteries, when used in close proximity to radio transceivers.
◗ The key to extended battery life lies in the charging. PAG chargers and battery management systems are the most advanced available. The PAG ACS software that controls the charging process was developed by PAG after years of extensive research, and continues to evolve as new battery chemistries become available. To ensure optimum cycle life PAG batteries should always be charged with the appropriate PAG ACS charger (see Chargers, Page 9). ◗ PAG batteries are available in a variety of sizes, voltages, capacities and cell-chemistries. They are the most technologically advanced in the industry, incorporating many unique, proprietary features designed to assist the cameraman, including the industry’s most accurate capacity indication and run-time display (see Power & Time Display below, and PAG Digital System RTI on Page 7).
PAG Time Batteries incorporate the PAG Power & Time Display. This built-in capacity indication and run-time display, unique to PAG, provides an accurate prediction of equipment run-time on-load, that counts down in 1 minute increments.

The battery’s internal processor achieves this taking into account the changes of load that occur during use, the charge status and condition of the cells, and the ambient temperature. PAG’s display is the first to achieve this. No other capacity indication device displays equipment runtime this accurately.

The Power & Time Display uses an easy-to-read digital character format, and displays remaining run-time on-load, at the press of a button; hours are displayed first, followed by minutes. The next button press shows available capacity in Ah (0.1Ah increments)
and a further press shows capacity as a percentage (1% increments). Capacity indication in amperehours and percentage can be displayed when the battery is on-load and when it has been removed, providing accurate charge status at all times.
The Run-time information can be displayed in the camera viewfinder, when the Time Battery is used in conjunction with the PAG Digital System RTI battery mount (see Page 7).

L95 Time Battery The PAG L95 Li-Ion Time Battery combines power, accuracy and reliability, making it the industry’s most advanced battery. Available in three formats, the L95 Time Battery is compatible with all popular camera systems. The L95 Time Battery is a 14.8V 6.5Ah pack that provides a capacity of 95 watt-hours and weighs only 745g. This means increased run-time for both a camera and a 35W camera light. Two L95s provide enough power for a days shooting, and are small
and light enough to be stowed easily in your camera bag. The PAG L95 incorporates the Power & Time Display which provides a run-time prediction, on-load, in hours and minutes (see opposite). This accurate calculation can be displayed in the viewfinder with PAG Digital System RTI (see Page 7).
PAG Li-Ion batteries contain no less than 9 safety mechanisms, making them the safest batteries in the industry (see ‘The value of quality’ opposite). The high capacity PAG L95 complies with current air transportation regulations (certification is provided). PAG L95 Time Battery:

The PAG Power Circle display is a micro-driven coulemetric capacity indicator, that displays available capacity in terms of percentage. The push-button display uses four segments to indicate the charge status of the battery.

NMH60 Time Battery
A high performance Ni-MH battery with a nominal capacity of 7.5Ah, providing 100 watthours, ideal for powering high definition cameras and on-board lighting simultaneously.
This non-digital version of the NMH100 provides significant cost-savings in comparison with the NMH100 Time Battery, and yet provides the same capacity and high-current draw capabilities.
One of the greatest advantages over competitors’ batteries is the PAG Power & Time Display, which provides a run-time prediction, on-load, expressed in hours and minutes. This can be displayed in the viewfinder with System RTI (see Page 7).

The PAG-developed microcomputer-technology is embodied in the Digital System RTI PAGlok Connector. PAGlok batteries that are compatible with System RTI are available in a range of cellchemistries, voltages and capacities. Connect a battery and the charge status, in ampere-hours, is instantly displayed in the viewfinder. When you enter ‘record’, the system evaluates the energy being consumed, and the display shows available runtime expressed in hours, minutes and seconds. Any subsequent change of load, such as the addition of a camera light, is instantly accommodated in the information displayed.
RTI features a Softstart antisurge cold filament pre-warm feature for the camera light, which can be controlled automatically from the camera’s record function. Radio Microphone Receiver Holders
Power Plate
Designed for use with cameras fitted with the PAGlok connector (not included), to enable the mounting of a radio microphone receiver. In most cases the holder is fitted between the battery mount and the camera whilst allowing the routing of any fixed wires through a central aperture. Receivers are held on a left or right side-facing plate, with velcro straps. Kits which enable the mounting of two receivers, and kits for use with the V-Mount to PAGlok adaptor are also available.
The PAG Power Plate is a dual battery mount available with a choice of connectors suitable for all popular camera systems.
The PAGlok Power Module is a compact, lightweight unit designed to supply continuous power from two PAGlok batteries for editing equipment, remote cameras or microwave links.
It enables two L95-size PAGlok batteries to be used in parallel, providing combined capacity and a higher current draw capability. The weight of the Power Plate and two L95 batteries combined is similar to a Ni-Cd SuperPack battery, but will provide 190 watthours, almost three times the power. This is enough capacity to power most camera and lighting set-ups for a day. Using two Li-Ion batteries to share the load and achieve a larger, combined capacity ensures that you do not discharge the battery at an excessive rate.

PAGlok batteries of any chemistry, capacity and state-of-charge can be used. Output is via a XLR-4 socket. A third power source, such as a Pagbelt can be connected via the XLR-4 input socket. Lok-on Power Module This series/parallel unit can be used to connect two PAGlok batteries in series, to produce an output voltage equal to the sumof the two batteries’ individual voltages, (up to 30V for applications such as powering lighting or microwave links). Connecting the batteries in parallel produces a capacity equal to the sum of the two batteries’ individual capacities (up to 14Ah, for extended equipment run-time). The Paglight M is an ultra-compact 12V light that embodies many features of the larger Paglight. It has been designed specifically for use with the new generation of smaller digital camcorders.

COOL-RUNNING Paglight M is constructed from a glass-reinforced engineering polymer that provides strength and temperature stability. PAG’s patented design ensures the Paglight M is cool-running at all times. FULLY FOCUSABLE Paglight M is continuously focusable from spot to flood with an even spectral distribution. PLUG-IN LAMPHOLDERS The plug-in lampholder system makes lamp changing quick and easy. A choice of standard or Softstart lampholders is available. Softstart prevents the cold lamp start-up surge from activating the over-current protection circuits within Li-Ion batteries. Both lampholders utilise 10W, 20W and 35W standard G4-size 12V halogen lamps. Wattage variants can be changed without the need to handle the lamp. When not in use, each lampholder can be stored in a heat-resistant polymer lamp protector. Lampholders are supplied with wattage identification labels.

ROTATABLE ACCESSORY RING A rotatable accessory ring can be fitted to the front of the light, which accommodates snap-in barndoors, a dichroic filter, and a diffuser. SOFTLIGHT DIFFUSER AND FILTER KIT This useful accessory fits onto the barndoors and enables you to create super-soft lighting or
special effects with colour gelatine filters. PAGLIGHT POWER BASES Paglight M incorporates a hot-shoe type power base with a flying lead. A variety of connectors is available, suitable for most camcorders. The power base features a 1/4” Whit. thread. This allows the unit to be mounted to the camera via a variety of universal mounting accessories (see Page 24).

PERFECT POSITIONING The lamp body has a multidirectional mounting and may be adjusted vertically and horizontally. The desired position can be maintained by a locking lever situated on the side of the light base.

DETACHABLE POWER BASE The 250W Paglight has a detachable power base that incorporates a lead terminated with an XLR-4 connector. This can be used to power the light from a Pagbelt IC2 or Powerman battery. The base incorporates a 1/4” Whit bush which enables the light to be mounted to a tripod or a handle (see Universal Paglight Mounting Options Page 24).

automatically recover the battery prior to fast-charging, if it has been deeply discharged. The charger also provides a maintenance topup charge after full charge.
