How to Start This guide has been designed to help you choose the right products to build up an access control system.
Networked access control Networked refers to access control systems that are administered using one or more PCs. Being networked means that all doors on the system can be administered from a central location. A user can be instantly denied access to all doors if required. PC administration gives greater flexibility over the control of the system. For example, users can be granted access into particular areas only at specific times. Reports can be generated showing a history of user movements around the building. Networked systems are generally easier to manage and are much better at handling large numbers of users and doors. This makes them suitable for buildings of all sizes. Networked systems can be used with proximity token readers, keypads and magstripe card readers.
Net2 Net2 is an advanced networked system. It has easy to use, intuitive software. Users can be added to the system quickly. Access reports can be generated at the click of a button. The door control units are networked and have been designed to be simple to install and configure. While being simple to use and install, the Net2 system has a complete range of powerful features which will fulfil most clients’ requirements. Net2 system components include control units, readers, tokens, power supplies, electric locks, a desktop reader and software.

Net2 systems - A typical setup - Networked access control Net2 is an advanced networked system with easy to use, intuitive software and a range of single door controllers. Users can be added to the system quickly and access reports can be generated at the click of a button. Net2 door control units are networked and have been designed to be simple to install and configure. The Net2 system has a complete range of powerful features which will fulfil most access requirements. Net2 system components include control units, readers, tokens, power supplies, electric locks, a desktop reader and software. Net2 control units use different means of communication to exchange information with the server PC. We have IP, wireless and battery powered door controllers that can be mixed and matched on a site, providing an extremely flexible solution.
Net2 nano • Net2 nano is our wireless Net2 control unit, it communicates with Net2 software at a central point by a secure, low power radio link. • Net2 nano opens up new site opportunities. Offer the unit to sites where hard wiring proves tricky; our fantastic wireless technology makes them easier to reach. • Net2 nano is cost effective and significantly reduces installation time up to 40% as no cable is required to communicate between doors and no knowledge of networks is needed. • Simply connect a Net2Air USB bridge to the central Net2 server PC and the Net2 software will pick up Net2 nano control units within range. • If there is an existing TCP/IP Ethernet network, a Net2Air Ethernet bridge may be used to extend the communication distance from the central server PC.

Net2 classic • Our most popular control unit, Net2 classic, is a single door access control unit and can be networked to others. • In 2010, Net classic was chosen to secure over 30,000 doors. • The Net2 classic control units are connected using a dedicated ‘daisy chain’ RS485 network. They communicate with the server PC via a USB or serial communications converter or across a computer network using a Net2 plus control unit or an Ethernet interface. • The server PC can be connected at any point along the RS485 data line. • Net2 classic can be installed as part of a Net2 installation alongside other Net2 nano, Net2 plus or Easyprox nano access control units.

It employs the latest technology, offering huge potential for future expansion. • Using Net2 plus ensures that the investment in access control is safe no matter how the system requirements change. It is the most suitable control unit for sites where requirements may grow over time. • Net2 plus has on-board TCP/IP to allow direct connection to a computer network. This can save time, money and result in a better, more resilient system. • Net2 plus control units can also be connected together using a dedicated RS485 network. This reduces the number of TCP/IP network points required, making it ideal for larger systems.

Easyprox nano • Easyprox nano is a Net2 networked entry system in a door handle; it combines a wireless access control unit and a reader in one. • Easyprox nano uses the same wireless communication technology and Net2Air bridges as the Net2 nano controller. • The unit is so quick and simple to install; it cuts labour time dramatically. • As Easyprox nano is so competitively priced, you can now add doors to an existing site for a fraction of the cost. • Simply connect a Net2Air USB bridge to the central Net2 server PC and the Net2 software will pick up Easyprox nano units within range. • If there is an existing TCP/IP Ethernet network, a Net2Air Ethernet bridge may be used to extend the communication distance from the central server PC.
