Job Title: Child Nutrition Worker I Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt Reports to: Child Nutrition Manager Pay Grade: Pay Grade 1 197 Date Revised January, 2003 Dept./School: Child Nutrition Department Primary Purpose: Responsible for serving quantities of food following the production sheets to meet requirements of correct portion size. Follow sanitary procedures for handling and storage of food. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Must have basic literacy. Must speak and read some English and understand some verbal instructions in English. Certification Level I recommended. Food Handler’s card required. Special Knowledge/Skills: None required. Basic knowledge of quantity production of food preferred. Minimum Experience: None required. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually. Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. Serve food using correct portion control utensils. Storage and care of food items and supplies; maintain a clean and organized storage area. Meet all scheduled meal times, portions, and serve the food as per department policies and procedures. Maintain sanitary working conditions to eliminate contamination. Wash dishes pots and pans as directed. Maintain the trash and garbage collection in a neat sanitary fashion. Follow standards of cleanliness, health and safety Maintain personal appearance and hygiene. Promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members. Interact with students, teachers, and visitors to provide optimum customer service. Assist cook with preparations (wash, cut vegetables, grate cheese, make sandwiches, weigh ingredients, etc.). Clean in serving area and kitchen following meal. Perform related duties as required. 03/07/03 § Equipment Used: Use large and small kitchen equipment to include electric slicer, knives, cutting board, scales, mixer, pressure steamer, deep-fat fryer, sharp cutting tools, ovens, dishwasher, and food and utility carts. Working Conditions: Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual standing, walking constantly, pushing, pulling, moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), some stooping, bending and kneeling. Environment: Some exposure to excessive hot and /or cold temperatures, moisture, excessive humidity, wet floors, and noise from equipment. Work around machinery with moving parts. Work with hands in water. Exposure to excessive hot and cold objects.
