PC808B - Personal CD Player Warnings and Precautions This symbol, located on back or bottom of the unit, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. This symbol, located on back or bottom of the unit, is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance. CAUTION: TO PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCK, MATCH WIDE BLADE OF PLUG TO WIDE SLOT, FULLY INSERT. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove cover (or back). There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Please refer any servicing to qualified service personnel. Powering the Unit To power the unit, insert 2 AA batteries (not, included) into the unit’s battery compartment. This product utilizes a Class 1 laser to read Compact Discs. This laser Compact Disc Player is equipped with safety switches to avoid exposure when the CD door is open and the safety interlocks are defeated. Invisible laser radiation is present when the CD Player’s lid is open and the system’s interlock has failed or been defeated. It is very important that you avoid direct exposure to the laser beam at all times. Please do not attempt to defeat or bypass the safety switches. WARNING: Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. WARNING: To prevent fire or shock hazards, do not expose this unit to rain or moisture. WARNING: Danger of explosion if the unit’s batteries are incorrectly installed. Replace only with the same or equivalent battery. WARNING: The remote control’s button cell battery contains mercury. Do not put in the trash, instead recycle or dispose of as hazardous waste Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (ni-cad, ni-mh, etc) batteries. NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. The unit can also be powered by connecting the DC Power Input to a standard AC outlet via an AC adapter (not included). Playing a CD Step 1: Slide the Open Switch to open the CD door. Step 2: Load a CD into the unit, and close the CD door. Step 3: Press the Play/Pause Button. Programming a CD Step 1: Slide the Open Switch to open the CD door. Step 9: Repeat steps 5-7 to create a programmed list of tracks that will play in the order they were selected. • The unit can program up to 64 tracks at one time. Using the Line Output Step 1: Connect a 3.5mm mini phono cable (not included) to the Line Output. Step 2: Connect the other end of the 3.5 mini phono cable to an external stereo system. Step 3: Adjust the connected stereo system to the correct input setting. Step 4: Audio played on the unit will now be heard through the connected stereo system. Locations of Controls Control Definitions 1. +10 Button Press the +10 Button to skip ahead 10 tracks. • The +10 Button will only skip through the current selected directory. 2. Mode Button Press the Mode Button to switch between the following modes on the unit. 1 Repeat Modes: Repeat 1 repeats an individual song. Repeat Directory repeats an entire directory on an MP3 CD. Repeat All repeats all songs and directories on a loaded CD. 2 Intro Mode: 8 Intro Mode plays the first 10 seconds of each song. 9 Random Mode: • Press the Play/Pause Button to exit Intro Mode and play the current song in it’s entirety. 3 Random Mode plays all songs and directories in a random order. 3. EQ/Program Buttons Press the EQ Button to adjust the equalizer. (Dynamic Bass Boost, Pop, Classic, Jazz, Rock, and Normal) Press the Program Button to program tracks to play in a selected order. 4. LCD Display The LCD Display displays CD and mode information. 5. 4 Press the Volume Buttons to adjust the volume of audio output through a set of connected earbuds or headphones. 10 6. 5 Volume Buttons DC Power Input Use the DC Power Input to connect the unit to a standard AC outlet via an AC adapter (not included). 11 7. Open Switch Slide the Open Switch to open the CD door. 8. Skip Up Button Press the Skip Up Button to skip forward through tracks on a loaded CD. Press and hold the Skip Up Button to search forward through an individual song during play. 9. 6 12 Play/Pause Button Press the Play/Pause Button to play or pause a loaded CD. 10. Skip Down Button Press the Skip Down Button to skip backward through tracks on a loaded CD. Press and hold the Skip Down Button to search backward through an individual song during play. 11. Stop Button 13 7 Press the Stop Button to stop a CD during play. Press the Stop Button twice to power the unit off. 12. Headphone Jack Use the Headphone Jack to connect a set of earbuds or headphones to the unit. 13. Line Output Use the Line Output to connect the unit to an external stereo system.
