PCD-zMOD Multi Slot Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Modular Flash Media Reader with Hub Overview The Digital Photo Kiosk is a rapidly growing industry. This means increased usage leading to wear and tear. The digital media reader becomes the single most used component of the digital photo kiosk that has user interaction and higher mechanical force. While most digital media readers offer basic support to media types, the growing need for this often used part is modularity and serviceability. Through modularity and serviceability we can have less down time at the kiosk. SCM, the pioneers in commercial digital flash media readers, have again led the market in bringing customizable modular media readers to the ever growing digital photo kiosk industry. SCM's latest product offering is the PCD-zMOD which brings together the proven expertise of SCM in the digital photo kiosk industry, combining it with modularity and serviceability. With retro-fit options in mind, SCM has designed the product as a new age alternative to the traditional 3.5" bay. The PCD-zMOD is poised to address other custom bay sizes as well. It can potentially be expanded to a 5.25" bay enclosure depending on customer request. The media slots in the basic 3.5" model are arranged following market research into media usage. The zMOD has been designed with the customer needs in mind - modularity at a competent rate, lower service costs, reduced down time at the kiosk and support of the latest media types in the market. By implementing these new features, SCM has strived to maintain the qualities that make it the market leader. As an interface, High Speed 2.0 provides the best price to performance and reliability ratio. Since the reader comes with a hub, the customer can expand the basic reader to include active modules for a Bluetooth reader, IRDA reader or just a regular USB front port. The labeled faceplate provides access to dedicated CompactFlash® I/II , Memory Stick®, Secure Digital Card®, miniSD media, MultiMediaCard™ and xD-Picture Card™. SCM is the first to implement a CF slot in a photo kiosk reader with a mechanism to securely lock and protect the pins, virtually eliminating all mechanical defects due to mis-insertion of the media or vandalism of the kiosk. Our high quality design, component selection, rigorous qualification, stringent manufacturing process and quality control guarantee operability in the most challenging of environments.
