PCS-5000 PAT C H - C L A M P M I C R O M A N I P U L AT O R S THE SOLUTION FOR TOTAL CONTROL IN MANUAL MICROMANIPULATION Nanometer-level resolution for extremely precise positioning Solid-state stability of piezoelectric (PZT) technology Negligible drift, and smoothness for ultra high stability Adjustable set stops allow fast and easy pipette exchange Convenient manual coarse control with a range of 25mm Fine control of 150 or 300 micrometers 2 Year Warranty Burleigh PCS-5000 THE BURLEIGH ADVANTAGE IN MICROMANIPULATION Only piezoelectric technology offers the solid-state stability and smoothness in complete and easy-to-use products for Life Science research. When controlled by Burleigh drive electronics and ergonomic controls, extremely precise, fast, solid and stable positioning is easily achieved. Total control means your fingertip commands are instantly and precisely converted to smooth and predictable pipette motion without drift, unlike the unpredictable motion of hydraulics or stepper motors. Now available with a 2 year warranty! LINEAR STAGE WITH PZT FLEXURE ASSEMBLY The heart of the system is the PZT Flexure Assembly which is integrated into the linear stage. The aluminum stage utilizes cross roller bearings and provides manual coarse control through a 32 thread-per-inch leadscrew with a range of 25mm. Fine control is provided through the PZT flexure with optional ranges of 150 or 300 micrometers and a resolution of <60 nanometers. The stage can be provided without the PZT element if only coarse control is required. PZT actuators are resistant to internal thermal drift. When external thermal changes are considered, a Burleigh system contributes the same or less thermal position drift than other components such as the microscope, mounting structure and headstage. No other micromanipulator has inherently lower drift than a Burleigh micromanipulator. > Linear Stage OPERATIONAL FEATURES THAT MAXIMIZE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY The PCS-520 Micromanipulator Assembly is comprised of: three linear stages, two rotary stages (with lockable stops), angle brackets (one set), and a headstage mounting plate. The solid-state nature of PZT actuators produces virtually zero heat while providing smooth, predictable motion, free from backlash and drift. Headstages and pipettes are easily installed using the Headstage mounting plate. You can easily optimize the angle of approach using the rotary headstage pivot; this standard feature makes for easy set-up on upright and inverted microscopes especially useful when working space or distance is critical. Using the adjustable stop mechanism, any angle can be selected and easily repeated. > PCS-520 Assembly EASY PIPETTE EXCHANGE > Rotary Pivot Stage Quick and easy pipette exchange is accomplished using the two rotary pivot stages each with adjustable stop mechanisms. The adjustable stop mechanisms, found in both the headstage and rotary pivot stage, consists of a brass block, a locking ring, two set screws and a pin. Once the set stops are adjusted to your working conditions, you can change pipettes easily and quickly return to the field view under of the microscope. To further simplify the pipette exchange procedure without losing your home position, use our PCS-500 Steep/Shallow Headstage Bracket with a sliding stage and repeatable stops at both ends of travel. > PCS-500-SSH (Optional accessory) EXPANDING YOUR OPTIONS The PCS-PS60 Power Supply provides a regulated, ultra low noise, constant 60 volt output for the Axis Control Unit. The power supply can be shared by two PCS-5000 micromanipulators / ACU systems to minimize cost and space consumption when multiple manipulators are required on the same microscope. Input power is 100 volts to 240 volts and 50/60 Hz ensuring world wide compatibility. Wide Range of Accessories Available for Additional Productivity A> The PCS-5000 is compatible with a wide range of accessories, providing maximum flexibility and easy customization. steep B shallow C> D> Accessories include: > A> Steep/Shallow Headstage Bracket - Allows orientation of the headstage and pipette holder at very steep or shallow angles and simplifies pipette exchange even in the tightest spaces. Symmetrical design works on the left and right side of the microscope. B> Extension Bracket - When you need a little boost to achieve perfect pipette position. C> Magnetic Base - Can be used to mount to a magnetic surface. This allows quick attachment and detachment of the micromanipulator for more versatile positioning on a magnetic surface. D> Microscope Mounting Solutions - Stable, convenient mounting methods for the most popular fixed stage upright and inverted microscopes. w w w. e x f o - l i f e s c i e n c e s . c o m SPECIFICATIONS PIEZO MANUAL TRAVEL 150 µm or 300 µm 25mm nominal RESOLUTION 60nm (150 µm) or 120nm (300 µm) 32 threads/inch lead screw SPEED Directly proportional to rate knob turns N/A DRIFT <1 µm per hour <1 µm per hour OPERATOR INTERFACE Large knobs for Piezo Manual micrometers 5.57” x 2.52” x 7” (length, width, height) MANIPULATOR DIMENSIONS HOW TO ORDER: WARRANTY 2 years Use the chart below to order the system you need by its exact model number.
