Installation and removal of the unit and its accessories must be carried out by qualified personnel. You must read all of the Safety Instructions supplied with your equipment before installation and operation. Warnings:  If the product does not work properly, please contact your dealer. The figures in this manual are for reference only. Please see the device for the actual appearance. You need a straight screwdriver or a cross screwdriver to complete the installation. Hard Disk Installation CAUTION! Disconnect power from the device before you start installation. Wear antistatic gloves during installation. Installation Without a Mounting Plate The following takes a device with two disk slots as an example. Follow the steps: 1. Loosen the screws on the rear panel and remove the cover. 2. Fasten the screws on the hard disk by turning each screw two or three cycles. 1 3. Connect the data cable to the hard disk. 4. Connect the power cable to the hard disk. 5. Align the screws on the hard disk with the screw holes on the bottom plate and then attach the hard disk. 2 6. Slide the hard disk into position on the bottom plate as indicated in the figure below. 7. Secure the hard disk by tightening the screws on the bottom plate. 8. Connect data cables and power cables to the motherboard. 3 9. (Optional) To install more hard disks, repeat the above steps. 10. Replace the cover and tighten the screws. Do not place cables on the hard disk(s). Installation with a Mounting Plate The following takes a device with four disk slots as an example. Follow the steps: 1. Loosen the two screws on the rear panel. 4 2. Remove the cover. 3. Remove the two screws that secure the hard disk mounting plate on both sides and then take out the mounting plate. 4. Install the hard disks one by one on the mounting plate. 5. Put the mounting plate back into the device and secure it. 5 6. Connect the hard disks and motherboard with data cables and power cables, and arrange the cables appropriately. 7. Replace the cover. 8. Fasten the two screws on the rear panel. 6 NOTE! When you are facing the rear panel of the device, the data cable connectors for hard disks (namely hard disk slots) are arranged as follows:   Disk 2 Disk 1 For the device with two disk slots: For the device with four or eight disk slots: Disk 1 Disk 2 ... Disk N Device Installation Leave a minimum space of 30 cm at the front and back sides of the device and a minimum space of 10 cm at the left and right sides of the device for heat dissipation. If the device is installed in a cabinet, leave at least 1U of space on the top and bottom for heat dissipation. Installation on a Workbench Place the device on a clean and stable workbench. If foot pads are supplied with the device, use the foot pads to minimize vibration and improve heat dissipation. 7 CAUTION! Do not stack devices or put any heavy object on it. Otherwise, heat dissipation may be affected. Keep the device from any vibration source, such as an electric generator, and keep the device from direct air flow, for example, from air conditioners or fans. Installation in a Cabinet NOTE! Before you start, ensure that slide rails or a tray has been installed in the cabinet. Install the device properly with the slide rails or the tray. 1. Attach a rack-mounting ear to the chassis and secure the rack-mounting ear with two M4 x 6 screws. 2. Repeat the above step to attach the other rack-mounting ear. 1: Screw (4 pcs) 1 2 2: Ellipse hole 3: Rack-mounting ear 3 3. Place the device on the slide rails and slide the device into place. Secure the rack-mounting ear to the cabinet using nuts and screws. 4 Appearance and Connection The following figures are for reference only. The number of PoE ports on a device may vary depending on the device model. A PoE port can be used to transfer data and meanwhile provide DC power for a connected IP camera that also supports PoE. Audio output IP network Mouse DC power IPC Audio input 15 Analog monitor Digital monitor CAUTION! The maximum output power of each PoE port is 30W. The total power of all the PoE ports on the device is 64W. So please make sure the total power of the PoE powered IP cameras does not exceed 64W. 5 Startup and Shutdown Before Power-On Before you power on the device, check and ensure that:  The device is stably installed with all the screws tightened.  No object is put on the device.  All the cables are correctly connected.  The power supply conforms to specifications. Startup Connect the device to the power and then turn on the power switch. Shutdown CAUTION! Do not disconnect power directly when the device is still running or shutting down. A sudden power failure may damage the device. Shut down by pressing the power button Hold the power button on the front panel for at least three seconds and then click OK in the system interface to confirm the operation. Shut down through the system interface Click Menu > Shutdown > Shutdown and then click OK to confirm the operation. 16 6 Initial Configuration Wizard The Wizard can help you complete some important settings. Some windows are displayed as follows. NOTE!   The device with PoE ports does not support the auto-add function. If you select Enable IP Camera auto-add function, the IP Camera window will not be displayed. The Wizard is described as follows: 17  Change Password window: Enter the default password “123456”.  IP Camera window: Search and add the connected IP cameras. Normally, all the IP cameras that are found (including those connected via ONVIF) can be added to the device, and the status is displayed as Connected. If the status is Disconnected, check the network connection and whether the username and password for the IP camera are correct.  Storage window: a 24-hour recording schedule is enabled for all cameras by default. You can choose a camera and then modify the recording type as needed. You can use the preview function after the Wizard completes, but you need to log in first to use other functions. The default username is “admin”, and the default password is “123456”. Camera Management Before you start, make sure that the IP cameras you want to configure and the device are connected through network. Adding an IP Camera by Auto-add NOTE!   The device with PoE ports does not support this function. If there is more than one NVR device in the network, do not use the Auto-Add IP Camera function. Add IP cameras by search or manually. 1. Click Menu > Camera > Camera. 2. Enable Auto-Add IP Camera and click OK. IP cameras connected to the device will be added automatically. 18 Adding an IP Camera by Search NOTE! When adding an IP camera using ONVIF, you need to click Edit and modify the username and password if the username and password of the camera are different from the default username and password. 1. Click Menu > Camera > Camera. 2. Click Search. A quick search is performed automatically. 3. Click Search Segment and then specify a network segment. 19 NOTE! To search IP cameras automatically, click Quick Search. 4. Add IP cameras.  To add one IP camera, select the camera and then click Add.  To add multiple IP cameras at a time, select the cameras and then click Batch Add, or select All to add all cameras. If the number of selected IP cameras does not exceed the limit, all the selected IP cameras will be added. 5. Check the connection status on the Camera tab. By default, all the IP cameras that are found can be added if the number of cameras is within the allowed limit. If the status of an IP camera is Connected, the camera is added successfully. If the status 20 is Disconnected, check whether the network connection is normal or the username and password of the camera are correct. Adding an IP Camera Manually 1. Click Menu > Camera > Camera. 2. Click Add. 3. Input the IP address and then select the protocol that the camera supports. Input the service port number, username and password, and then click OK. 4. Check the connection status on the Camera tab. Adding an IP Camera by Plug-and-Play NOTE!   1. Only the device with PoE ports supports this function. The channel corresponding to a PoE port cannot be deleted. Connect the IP camera to a PoE port on the rear panel of the device with a network cable. 21 2. Click Menu > Camera > Camera. The device uses plug-and-play as the default way to add IP cameras. After an IP camera is added successfully through plug-and-play, the device automatically assigns an IP address to the camera. Preview Preview Pane Toolbar The preview pane toolbar appears when you click a pane in preview mode. Manual Recording Click this button to start recording live video in the current pane to the device. A red cross mark appears in the lower right corner of the button when recording is started. Zoom Click this button to increase the size of a certain part of an image in the current pane. Image Config Click to select the desired mode and configure image settings. Exit Click this button to exit the toolbar in the current pane. Preview Status Icons The following icons indicate alarm status and recording status in the preview window. Configure the recording time and recording type. 24 3. Click OK to complete the configuration. Playback 1. Right-click anywhere in the preview window and then choose Playback. 2. Select the desired camera and then double-click the desired date to start playback. 25 Accessing Through the Web Before logging in to the Web interface, ensure that the PC and the device are connected through network. 1. Open the Web browser on the PC and visit the IP address of the device (192.168.0.30 by default). For your first login, you need to install the latest ActiveX as prompted. Close all browsers after the installation starts. 2. Enter the correct username and password and then click Login. The default username is “admin” and password is “123456”. 3.
