Correct application This commercial dishwasher complies with current safety requirements. Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and damage to property. To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the commercial dishwasher, please read these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. They contain important information on its safety, installation, use and maintenance. Keep these instructions in a safe place and pass them on to any future owner.
Correct application This commercial dishwasher with its short program run times and powerful cleaning performance is intended for commercial use in offices, lunch rooms, clubhouses, workshops, daycares, schools, large kitchens and similar professional environments.
This commercial dishwasher is not intended for continuous use. This commercial dishwasher is not suitable for the reprocessing of medical products or devices, e.g. surgical instruments.
For applications where high temperature sanitizing is required according to Provincial Food Code, only use a minimum temperature of 82°C with a holding time of 10 seconds.
Use this commercial dishwasher only for "Dishwashing" as defined in the Operating instructions, i.e. for cleaning glassware, dishes and cutlery. Any other use, conversion or modification is not permissible and possibly hazardous. Miele cannot be held liable for damage caused by inappropriate use or improper operation.
This commercial dishwasher is intended for stationary, indoor use only.
The special inserts are to be used for their specific purpose only. Individuals who are incapable of using the appliance safely because of limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience or knowledge must not use this appliance without supervision or instruction by a responsible person. 8
Warning and Safety Instructions Correct installation Do not install this commercial dishwasher in an area where there is a risk of explosion or freezing conditions.
To ensure the stability of built-under commercial dishwashers, they must only be installed beneath a continuous countertop that is bolted to the adjacent cabinetry.
In order to reduce the risk of damage from condensation, the furniture in the area around the commercial dishwasher should be designed for commercial use.
Technical safety This commercial dishwasher must only be installed, commissioned, repaired and then maintained by Miele Service. Installation, repair and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous and Miele will not be held liable.
This commercial dishwasher must only be operated by appropriately trained personnel. They must be instructed and trained regularly.
Before using the commercial dishwasher, check it for any externally visible damage. Under no circumstances should you use it if it has been damaged. It could be dangerous.
In the event of a damaged or leaking commercial dishwasher, switch off at the mains immediately and call the Miele Service Department.
Faulty components must only be replaced by genuine Miele original spare parts. Only when these parts are fitted Miele can guarantee the safety standards of the appliance.
9
Warning and Safety Instructions The electrical safety of this commercial dishwasher can only be guaranteed when correctly earthed. It is essential that this standard safety requirement is met. If in any doubt, please have the electrical installation tested by a qualified electrician. Miele cannot be held liable for the consequences of an inadequate earthing system (e.g. electric shock).
Be sure to follow the installation instructions in this manual and in the installation diagram.
Before connecting the appliance, ensure that the connection data on the data plate (voltage, frequency and fuse rating) match the mains electrical supply.
There must be no electrical sockets behind the commercial dishwasher since the depth of the installation niche may be too small and there is a danger of overheating if the dishwasher is pushed up against a plug (see the "Electrical connection" chapter for more information).
Do not connect the commercial dishwasher to the mains electricity supply by a multi-socket unit or an extension cable as they do not guarantee the required safety of the appliance (e.g. danger of overheating).
Do not under any circumstances open the casing of the commercial dishwasher. Any contact with connections carrying voltage, or changes in the electrical or mechanical set-up, will endanger you and may impair the functioning of the appliance.
The commercial dishwasher must not be used if the electrical connection cable is damaged. If the cable is damaged it must be replaced with a special cable available from Miele. For safety reasons this must only be done by Miele Service.
The commercial dishwasher must be disconnected from the mains electricity supply before any maintenance or repair work is carried out. 10
Warning and Safety Instructions The plastic housing of the water connection contains two electrical valves. The housing must not be immersed in liquids.
There are electrical wires in the water inlet hose. Do not shorten the water inlet hose, even if it is too long.
The integrated Waterproof system offers protection from water damage, provided the following conditions are met: – installation has been carried out correctly, – the commercial dishwasher is properly maintained and parts replaced where it can be seen that this is necessary, – the water valve has been closed during longer periods of inactivity (e.g. whilst on holiday). The Waterproof system will work even if the commercial dishwasher is switched off. However, the commercial dishwasher must remain connected to the electricity supply.
11
Warning and Safety Instructions Correct use This commercial dishwasher is designed for operation with water and detergents suitable for use in commercial dishwashers only. Organic solvents or flammable liquid agents must not be used in it. This could cause an explosion, property damage due to the destruction of rubber or plastic components, and the resulting leakage of liquids.
Only use detergents formulated for use in commercial dishwashers that are recommended or provided by Miele. Using unsuitable detergents could adversely affect components in the commercial dishwasher, as well as items being cleaned.
Do not sit or lean on the opened door. This could cause the commercial dishwasher to tip or become damaged.
After any plumbing work the water pipework to the commercial dishwasher will need to be vented. If this is not done, components can be damaged.
Please be aware that the commercial dishwasher may be operating at high temperatures. If the door is opened there is a danger of burning or scalding. Dishes, cutlery, baskets and inserts must be allowed to cool down before they are unloaded. Empty any hot water remaining in hollow items into the wash cabinet.
The water in the cabinet must not be used as drinking water. Pre-treating items (for example with dishwashing liquid and other detergents) as well as some types of soiling and some detergents can cause a build-up of foam in the wash cabinet. Foam can have an adverse effect on the cleaning result.
Foam escaping from the wash cabinet can cause damage to the commercial dishwasher. If foam escapes the program must be canceled immediately and the machine must be disconnected from the electrical supply.
12
Warning and Safety Instructions When using detergents and specialized products, it is essential that the manufacturer's instructions are followed. Detergents must only be used for the purpose they are designed for and in the situation specified, to avoid such dangers as serious chemical reactions and material damage (e.g. oxyhydrogen explosion).
Avoid inhaling powder detergents! Do not swallow detergents! Detergents can cause chemical burns to nose, mouth and throat. Seek medical help immediately if you have inhaled or swallowed any detergent.
Miele cannot be held liable for any effect chemical detergents may have on the material of the items being cleaned. Observe the detergent manufacturer's instructions with regard to storage conditions, use and dosage.
To avoid material damage and corrosion, do not allow any acids, chloride solutions or corrosive iron materials get into the wash cabinet.
Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, grease or paint in the commercial dishwasher. These substances could damage the commercial dishwasher.
Do not hose the commercial dishwasher or near vicinity down to clean it, e.g. with a water hose or a pressure washer.
Ensure that the stainless steel outer casing of the appliance does not come into contact with solutions or steam containing acid to avoid any corrosion damage.
Be careful when sorting items with sharp pointed ends and positioning them in the commercial dishwasher that you do not hurt yourself or create a danger for others. Position them so they cannot cause injury.
Remove any coarse food deposits and empty out any containers or utensils before loading them in the commercial dishwasher.
13
Warning and Safety Instructions Safety with children Always supervise any children in the vicinity of the appliance. Never allow children to play with the appliance. Among other hazards, children run the risk of locking themselves in the commercial dishwasher.
Young children must be kept away from the commercial dishwasher unless they are constantly supervised.
Older children may only operate the commercial dishwasher unsupervised if they have been taught how to operate it safely and recognize and understand the dangers of incorrect use.
Keep children away from chemical agents! These contain irritant and corrosive ingredients which can cause burning in the mouth, nose and throat if swallowed, or inhibit breathing. Therefore, keep children away from the commercial dishwasher when the door is open. There may still be detergent residues in the appliance. Seek medical help immediately if a child has ingested any chemical agents.

14
Caring for the environment Disposal of the packaging material
Disposing of your old appliance
The cardboard box and packaging materials protect the appliance during shipping. They have been designed to be biodegradable and recyclable.
Old electrical and electronic equipment often still contain valuable materials. However, they may also include harmful substances that were essential for proper functioning and safe use. Improperly disposing of these items in your household waste can be harmful to your health and the environment. Therefore, please do not dispose of your old appliance in your regular household waste.
Recycling the packaging reduces the use of raw materials in the manufacturing process and also reduces the amount of waste in landfill sites. You can return the packaging to your Miele dealer.
Instead, use your local community waste collection and recycling centre for electric and electronic appliances. Contact your dealer for more information. Ensure that your old appliance does not pose a danger to children while being stored for disposal.
15
Caring for the environment Energy-saving dishwashing This commercial dishwasher is exceptionally economical in is use of water and electricity. You can make the most of your machine by following these tips: You may connect the commercial dishwasher to a hot water line. This is particularly suitable with energysaving water heating sources such as solar energy systems. If the hot water system is electrically heated and if loads comprise primarily glassware we recommend connecting the appliance to the cold water line. For most economical dishwashing, make full use of the baskets without overloading the dishwasher. Choose a program that best suits the degree of soiling and the type of dishes being washed. Use the Normal program for energy saving dishwashing. From the aspect of combined energy and water consumption, this program is the most efficient for washing normally soiled dishes. Observe the detergent manufacturer's recommendations for detergent dosage.
16
When using powder detergent, you can reduce the amount by 1/3 of the normal dosage if the baskets are only half full.
Commissioning Opening the door
Closing the door Push the baskets in. Then lift the door upwards and push until it clicks into position.
Do not put your hand inside the door as it is closing. Danger of injury.
Safety lock To prevent children from opening the commercial dishwasher door, use the safety lock to lock the door. At the end of programs with a drying phase (see "Program overview") the door will automatically open a little in order to help the drying process. This function can be deactivated if preferred (see "Settings menu, AutoOpen"). To open the door, reach under the door grip and pull. If the door is opened during operation, all functions are automatically interrupted.
Keep the area around the door free of obstructions.
To lock the door, push the slide underneath the door grip to the right. To unlock the door, push the slide to the left.
17
Commissioning Display function General The display is used to select or set the following: – the program – the delay start time
Settings menu
– the settings
The Settings menu allows you to change machine's electronic to suit special requirements. You can access the Settings menu by pressing a specific button combination. For further information see "Settings menu".
During a program, the display shows the following: – the program stage – the estimated time left for the program to run – any relevant fault messages and information In order to save energy, the commercial dishwasher will switch to Standby-mode within a few minutes if no program is running and no button is pressed. After several more minutes it switches off completely (see "Operating the commercial dishwasher, Standby"). To turn the commercial dishwasher back on, press the button.
In the Settings menu, the normal functions of the buttons underneath the display are not active allowing you to select and confirm menu items with these buttons. The left and right arrows in the display indicate that additional selections are available. You can use the arrow buttons underneath the display, as appropriate, to select these further options. Use the centre button underneath the display to confirm messages or settings and to switch to the next menu or submenu. A check will appear beside the option which is currently selected.
18
Commissioning Standard settings Switch the commercial dishwasher on with the button. If the commercial dishwasher is being turned on for the first time, the welcome screen will appear. Language The display will change automatically to the screen for setting the language. See the Display functions section for details. Select the desired language and press the centre button to confirm. A check will appear next to the language that has been set. Water hardness The display changes to the water hardness setting.
It is useful to know your water hardness so that you can provide the service technician with this information in the event of any service calls. Enter the water hardness below: gr/gal / °d The water hardness factory setting is programmed at 15 °dH (=16 gr/gal or 2.7 mmol/l). Select the water hardness level for your water supply and confirm with the center button. See "Settings menu, Water hardness" for more information. The following two messages Refill rinse aid and Refill salt may then appear in the display. Press any button to confirm these messages. The display changes to the "Main menu".
– The commercial dishwasher must be programmed to exactly match the hardness of your water. – Miele Service is able to measure the exact water hardness on site. Alternatively contact your local city water supplier for the water hardness level in your area. – Where the water hardness fluctuates e.g. between 18 - 26 gr/gal (17 25 °d - German scale), always program the commercial dishwasher to the higher value (26 gr/gal or 25 °d in this example).
19
Commissioning Before using the commercial dishwasher for the first time you will need: – approx. 1 kg dishwasher salt for reactivation, – approx. 110 ml rinse aid, – Dishwasher detergent, see "Operation" Every commercial dishwasher is tested at the factory. There may be residual water in the machine from this test. This is not an indication that it has been used previously.
Filling the salt reservoir In order to achieve good cleaning results, the commercial dishwasher needs to operate with soft (low in calcium deposits) water. Hard water results in a build-up of calcium deposits on dishware and in the commercial dishwasher. Water with a hardness level higher than 4 gr/gal (4 °d / 0.7 mmol/l) needs to be softened. This takes place automatically in the integrated water softener. The water softener in the commercial dishwasher is suitable for a water hardness level of up to 37 gr/gal (36 °d / 6.5 mmol/l). See "Settings menu, Water hardness" for setting the water softener.
20
If the water in your area is very soft and constantly lower than 4 gr/gal (0.7 mmol/l / 4 °d - German scale), you do not need to add dishwasher .salt The water softener must, however, still be programmed to correspond to the water hardness level in your area.
Do not fill the salt reservoir with dishwasher detergent (including liquid detergent). Dishwasher detergent will damage the water softener.
Only use special coarse grained dishwasher salt for reactivation, or pure evaporated salt. Miele Professional offer appropriate products. Other types of salt may contain insoluble additives which can impair the functioning of the water softener.
Commissioning When filling the salt reservoir, only open the door half way to ensure that all the salt gets into the reservoir.
Press the button on the lid of the salt reservoir in the direction of the arrow. The flap will spring open.
Add salt only until the reservoir is full. The salt reservoir holds approx. 1 kg of salt, depending on the type of salt used. Do not add any more than 1 kg of salt. As the salt reservoir is filled, displaced water can overflow. Clean any excess salt from around the reservoir opening and then close the flap. Immediately run the "Pre-wash" program without a load in order to remove any traces of salt from the cabinet.
Lift up the funnel. Do not fill water into the salt reservoir!
21
Commissioning Salt refill reminder
Rinse aid
Fill the salt reservoir with dishwasher salt for reactivation as soon as Refill salt appears in the display (If it appears during a program, wait until the end of the program).
Rinse aid is necessary to ensure water does not cling and leave marks on dishes and glassware during the drying phase and helps dishes dry faster after it after it has been washed. Rinse aid is filled in the reservoir and the set amount will be automatically dispensed.
Press the centre button to confirm. The salt refill indicator will go out. After the salt reservoir has been filled, the salt refill message may still appear in the display if the salt concentration has not yet reached the correct level. If this is the case, press the middle button again.
Fill the reservoir with rinse only.
The Refill salt message is turned off if you have programmed the commercial dishwasher to a water hardness below 4gr/gal (=0.7 mmol/l).
Suitable products are available from Miele Professional.
Immediately after refilling the salt reservoir, run the Pre-wash or Short program without a load in order to remove any traces of salt from the cabinet.
Do not fill it with dish soap or cleaning agent. This would damage the rinse aid reservoir.
Alternatively, it is possible to use household vinegar with a max. 5% acid content or liquid citric acid with a max. 10% acid content. The resulting rinsing and drying quality will not, however, be as good as when rinse aid is used.
Do not use vinegar with a higher acid content (e.g., vinegar essence with 25% acid). This would damage the commercial dishwasher.
22
Commissioning Adding rinse aid
Wipe up any spilled rinse aid. This prevents over-foaming occurring during the next program. You can adjust the rinse aid dosage to optimize the results (see "Settings menu, Rinse aid").
Rinse aid reminder When the Refill rinse aid message appears in the display, the reservoir contains sufficient rinse aid for 2 - 3 programs only. Add rinse aid soon. Press the button on the lid of the rinse aid reservoir in the direction of the arrow. The flap will spring open.
Press the centre button to confirm. The add rinse aid reminder will go out.
Add rinse aid only until it is visible in the opening. The rinse aid reservoir holds approximately 110 ml. Close the flap firmly so that it clicks into place. Otherwise water can enter the rinse aid reservoir during a program. 23
Loading the commercial dishwasher Preparing the load Remove coarse food residues from the dishware. There is no need to rinse items under running water!
Tips: Ensure that no acid or solvent residues, especially hydrochloric acid or chlorides, get inside the wash cabinet.
Do not wash items soiled with ash, sand, wax, lubricating grease or paint in the commercial dishwasher. These substances will damage the commercial dishwasher. Dishware can be loaded anywhere in the baskets, but the following notes should be observed: Load the dishes so that water can access all the surfaces. This ensures that they get properly cleaned! Load plates symmetrically in the upper and lower baskets with the concave surface towards the centre of the basket (as shown on the following pages). Do not place dishes or cutlery inside other pieces where they may be concealed. Load the dishes so that water can access all the surfaces. This ensures that they get properly cleaned! Make sure that all items are securely positioned.
24
Hollow items such as cups, glasses and pans, etc. should be placed upside down in the baskets. Tall, narrow, hollow items should be placed in the centre of the basket if possible to ensure better water coverage. Concave items such as mugs or bowls should be placed at an angle so that the water can run off. The spray arms must not be blocked by items which are too tall or hang through the baskets. If in doubt, test for free movement by manually rotating the spray arms. Small items can fall through the holders in the baskets. Small items should therefore be placed in the cutlery tray or cutlery basket (depending on model). Some foods may contain natural dyes, e.g. carrots, tomatoes or ketchup. Plastic items in the commercial dishwasher may discolour if large quantities of these foods find their way into the appliance on the dishes. The stability of plastic items is not affected by this discolouration.
Loading the commercial dishwasher Items not suitable for dishwashers:
We recommend:
– Wooden cutlery and dishware or items with wooden parts may discolour and fade. The glue used in these items is not dishwasher-proof. Wooden handles may come loose after being washed in a dishwasher.
– When purchasing new dishware and cutlery, make sure they are dishwasher-proof.
– Craft items, antiques, valuable vases and decorative glassware are not suitable for dishwashers. – Plastic items which are not heat resistant may melt or lose shape. – Copper, brass, tin and aluminum items may discolour or become matt. – Colours painted over a glaze may fade after a number of washes. – Delicate glassware and glassware containing lead crystal may become cloudy after frequent washing.
– Clouding may occur on glasses after frequent washing. If delicate glassware is washed in the commercial dishwasher ensure that only a special glass-care program with very low temperatures (see "Program overview") is selected and that suitable detergent is used. This will reduce the risk of clouding. Please note: Silver and aluminum which has been in contact with foods containing sulfur can discolour.
Aluminum components (e.g. grease filters) must not be cleaned with caustic alkaline commercial or industrial cleaning agents. These may damage the material, or in extreme cases, there is a risk of a severe explosive chemical reaction (explosive oxyhydrogen gas reaction).

Operation Detergent Powder detergents Use powder cleaning detergent or dishwasher tabs only in the door dispenser compartment. Suitable products are available from Miele Professional. Cleaning tabs can be used. Only use tabs that are quick dissolving. Suitable tabs are available from Miele Professional. Add powder cleaning detergent or cleaning tabs to the detergent compartment. Detergent dosage Unless directed otherwise, use one detergent tab or add 20 to 25 g detergent to compartment II, depending on the level of soiling. With very heavy soiling you can also add a small amount of detergent to compartment l (see "Program chart"). Failure to dispense the recommended amount of detergent may impair cleaning results.
Liquid detergent This commercial dishwasher can be fitted with an optional external dispenser pump for liquid detergent (DOS module). See "Settings menu, External DOS" to activate the dispenser pump and set the cleaning detergent dosage. For special soiling or if using liquid detergent, dispensed by a liquid detergent pump, contact Miele for advice on how to adapt the detergent dosage to the particular circumstances.
Cleaning agents containing active chlorine must not be used. They can damage the elastomers and plastics of the commercial dishwasher. Refilling or changing containers The DOS module is equipped with a level indicator which gives the message Add detergent in the display when the level drops below the minimum. As soon as the message appears in the display, refill or replace the container with a full one at the end of the program. Confirm the message with the OK button. Replace the container in good time to prevent the dispensing system being emptied completely. An empty dispensing system must be vented before starting the next program.
34
Operation Place the container on the open cabinet door or on a surface which is easy to clean.
Wipe up any spilled process chemical thoroughly. Place the container on the floor next to the commercial dishwasher or in an adjacent cupboard. The container must be on the same level as the dishwasher. It must not be placed higher than the dishwasher or on top of it. The DOS system must then be primed. To prime the system and adjust the dosage amount, see "Settings menu, External DOS".
Unscrew and remove the suction lance. Place the suction lance on the open cabinet door. Replace the empty container with a full one. Push the suction lance into the opening of the container and screw it on tightly. Observe the colour coding.
Checking consumption Monitor the amount of process chemicals used by regularly checking the level in the container in order to detect any irregularities. Always follow the recommendations of the cleaning detergent manufacturer whether using powder or liquid cleaning detergent.
35
Operation Avoid inhalation of powder detergents. Do not ingest dishwasher detergent. Detergents can cause chemical burns in the nose, mouth and throat. Seek medical advice immediately if detergent has been swallowed or inhaled. Keep detergent and other agents out of the reach of children at all times. Keep children away from the commercial dishwasher when the door is open. There could still be detergent residues in the cabinet. To avoid the danger of children coming into contact with the dishwasher detergent, only add detergent just before starting the program and close the door, activating the safety lock.
Adding detergent
Add the required amount of detergent and close the flap. Make sure that the detergent packaging is properly closed after use to avoid it getting damp and clumping together. Dosing information Compartment I holds max. 10 ml, compartment II holds max. 50 ml. There are markings in compartment II to assist with dispensing: 20 and 30. The marks indicate a level of approx. 20 or 30 ml when the door is open in the horizontal position. They also indicate the approx. level in grams (depending on the manufacturer and the coarseness of the agent).
Press the opening catch on the detergent dispenser. The flap will pop open. The flap is always open at the end of a program.
36
Operation Switching on Turn on the water supply if it is turned off. Make sure the spray arms are not obstructed. Close the door. Turn the commercial dishwasher on using the button. The Normal program (which is the factory default program) will appear in the display and the matching indicator light will come on. After a short while, the estimated run time for the program will appear in the display. You can alter the setting of the commercial dishwasher so that the last program used will appear in the display when the machines is turned on (see "Settings menu, Program, preselection")
Selecting a program
When the indicator light next to the symbol lights up, you can select additional programs using the > button. The additional programs are shown in the display between the alternating program names and run time. You can now select additional functions (see "Additional functions").
Starting a program Press the Start/Stop button. The program starts. If additional functions are selected, the corresponding indicator lights will also come on. Only cancel a program if absolutely necessary and within the first few minutes. Important program stages (e.g. reactivating the water softener) could otherwise be omitted.
Choose the program according to the type of load and the degree of soiling. The different programs and their uses are described in the Program Overview chapter. Select the program required with the button. The indicator light for the selected program comes on and the indicator light of the Start/Stop button flashes.
37
Operation Time display
Standby
The duration of the program selected appears in hours and minutes in the display before the program begins. During the program, the time left until the end of the program is displayed.
To save energy, the commercial dishwasher will switch to Standby mode a few minutes after the last time a button has been pressed or a few minutes after the end of the program. The display and the indicator lights will go out and only the Start/Stop indicator light will flash slowly.
Each program stage is indicated by a symbol: Pre-wash Main wash Interim rinse Final rinse Drying Finished The displayed program duration may vary with the same program. It is influenced by, among other things, the water temperature at each intake, the reactivation process of the water softener and the amount of dishes. When a program is selected for the first time, the display shows an average program duration for warm water intake. The program duration changes if the electrical connection is changed.
38
Press any button to turn the display back on. If the commercial dishwasher is not switched off at the end of the program, it will switch off completely after a few minutes in Standby mode (see "Settings menu, Optimize standby"). The commercial dishwasher will not switch into Standby mode whilst a program is running, if salt or rinse aid needs to be replenished or there is a fault. You can switch off the reminders to replenish salt and rinse aid so that the commercial dishwasher will go into Standby despite a lack of salt or rinse aid (see "Settings menu, Refill display"). You cannot switch off fault messages.
Operation At the end of the program
Turning off
The program has finished when End appears in the display and the door has opened slightly (if applicable).
At the end of a program:
With "Extra drying" and "AutoOpen" activated, the drying fan will continue to run for a few minutes after the program has finished. Open the door fully so that the door locking pins retract again. You can now empty the commercial dishwasher.
If you have deactivated the automatic door opening function (see "Settings menu, AutoOpen"), but would still like to open the door at the end of the program, make sure that you open the door fully. Otherwise steam from the commercial dishwasher could damage the edge of the counter because the fan is no longer running.
Turn the commercial dishwasher off with the button. The commercial dishwasher will continue to use electricity until it is turned off with the button. Useful tip: If the commercial dishwasher is not going to be used for a longer period of time, e.g. whilst on vacation, the water supply should be turned off.
Unloading the commercial dishwasher Dishes tend to break and chip more easily when they are hot. Leave the dishes in the commercial dishwasher until they are cool enough to handle before unloading them. The dishes will cool much faster if you open the door fully when the program has ended. Unload the lower basket first, then the upper basket and then the cutlery tray (depending on model). This will prevent water from the upper basket and cutlery tray from dripping onto dishes in the lower basket.
39
Operation Interrupting a program A program will be interrupted as soon as the door is opened. When the door is closed again, the program will continue from where it was interrupted.
Water in the commercial dishwasher may be hot. Danger of scalding. Only open the door if absolutely necessary and exercise extreme caution when doing so. Before closing the door again, leave it ajar for approx. 20 seconds. This will enable the temperature in the wash cabinet to settle. Then raise the door up and push until the catch engages.
40
Changing a program If liquid detergent dispensing is not being used and the detergent dispenser flap has already opened, more powder detergent must be added for the new program. If a program has already started and you wish to change it, proceed as follows: Press the Start/Stop button for at least one second. The program will be canceled. Select the program you want, and then start it.
Additional functions Extra drying
Delay start
In order to achieve better drying results and to reduce the amount of steam which escapes when the door is opened, the fan runs for longer at the end of the program when Extra drying is selected. This function is not available for all programs (see "Program overview").
The start time of a program can be delayed, e.g. to benefit from economy rates of electricity. A delay start time of between 30 minutes and 24 hours can be selected. The delay start time is set in 30 minute steps.
With Extra drying selected, the program duration will increase by approx. 20-30 minutes, depending on the program. Turn the commercial dishwasher on using the button. The "Start/Stop" indicator light flashes. Select a program. Press the button.
When using the Delay start function, make sure that the detergent compartment is dry before adding detergent. Wipe dry with a cloth if necessary. If the compartment is wet, detergent can clump up and stick to the dispenser, which may prevent the detergent from being fully dispensed. Turn the commercial dishwasher on with the button.
The "" indicator light will come on if this function is available for the selected program. Otherwise Option not possible is shown in the display.
The "Start/Stop" indicator light flashes.
Start the program by pressing Start/ Stop button.
Press the button.
Select the program you require (see "Operation, Selecting a program").
The last delay start time used will appear in the display. The "Delay start" indicator light comes on. Set the desired delay start time using the button. If the delay start button is kept pressed in, the time will increase automatically up to 24:00 h. To start at 30 minutes again, press the button twice.
41
Additional functions Press the Start/Stop button. The Start/Stop indicator light comes on. If, after you have set the delay start time, you do not press the Start/Stop button within a few seconds, the display will revert to showing the program duration. You will have to set the delay start time again. The delay start time then counts down to the start time selected in minute stages. At the end of the delay period, the program selected will start automatically. The remaining program run time is displayed, the "Delay start" indicator light goes out and the "Start/ Stop" indicator light comes on.
To prevent children coming into contact with detergent: Fill the detergent dispenser just before starting the program, i.e. just before pressing the Start/Stop button, and lock the door with the safety lock.
42
Starting a program before the delay start time has elapsed: A program can be started before the delay start time has elapsed. Proceed as follows: Press the Start/Stop button for at least one second. The delay start indicator light will go out and the "Start/Stop" indicator light will flash. Press the Start/Stop button again. The program starts. The "Start/Stop" indicator light comes on.
Cleaning and care Service
Cleaning the wash cabinet
The commercial dishwasher should be serviced every 750 hours of operation, or at least once a year by Miele Service.
The wash cabinet is largely selfcleaning, provided that the correct amount of detergent is always used.
Maintenance covers the following: – electrical integrity, – Door mechanism and door seal – Any screw connections and connectors in the wash cabinet – Water inlet and drainage – Internal and external dispensing systems – Spray arms
If, despite this, lime scale or grease deposits accumulate in the cabinet, these can be removed with a proprietary dishwasher cleaner (available from Miele). If you mainly use low temperature programs, bacteria and unpleasant odours can build up in the wash cabinet. To prevent this, run an intensive program with detergent after approx. 20 program cycles with low temperatures.
– Filter combination – Sump including drain pump and nonreturn valve – All baskets and inserts The following operational tests will be carried out within the framework of the maintenance: – A program test run – Seals will be tested for water tightness – All relevant measuring systems will be safety tested, including fault displays – Safety features
All surfaces are susceptible to scratches. Contact with unsuitable cleaning agents can alter or discolour all surfaces. 43
Cleaning and care Cleaning the door and the door seal Wipe the door seals regularly with a damp cloth to remove food deposits. When the dishwasher is being loaded, food and drink residues may drip onto the sides of the dishwasher door. These surfaces are outside the wash cabinet and are not accessed by water from the spray arms. Any soiling should be wiped off these surfaces before the door is closed.
Cleaning the front of the commercial dishwasher Remove any soiling immediately. Soiling that is left too long might become impossible to remove and could cause the external surfaces to alter or discolour. Clean the front of the appliance with a clean sponge and a solution of hot water and liquid dish soap. After cleaning, dry the front with a soft cloth. A clean, damp microfibre cloth without detergent can also be used.
44
To avoid damaging the surfaces of your appliance, do not use: – Cleaning products containing soda, ammonia, acids or chlorides, – lime scale removers, – Abrasive cleaning products, such as scouring powder, scouring liquid, or pumice stones, – cleaners containing solvents, – stainless steel cleaners, – dishwasher cleaners, – oven sprays, – glass cleaners, – Hard, abrasive sponges and brushes, such as pot scrubbers, – Eraser sponges, – sharp metal scrapers, – steam cleaning appliances.
Cleaning and care Checking the filters in the wash cabinet
Cleaning the filters Turn the commercial dishwasher off.
The filter combination in the base of the wash cabinet retains coarse soiling from the suds solution, preventing it from accessing the circulation system and re-entering the cabinet through the spray arms.
This commercial dishwasher must not be used without all the filters in place! Collection of coarse soil may cause the filters to clog. The level of soiling and time it takes before the filters need cleaning will vary depending on use. The message Check filters will appear in the display after every 50 program cycles (factory default setting). You can turn off the filter check or set the interval for this message to appear between 30 to 60 program cycles (see "Settings menu, Check filter"). Check the filter combination. Clean it if necessary.
Turn the handle counter-clockwise to release the filter system . Lift the filter system out of the commercial dishwasher , remove any coarse particles and rinse the filter well under running water. Use a brush if necessary.
Ensure that coarse soil does not get into the circulation system. It could cause a blockage.
Confirm the message with the middle button. The last selected program is displayed briefly in the display and the respective indicator light comes on. After a short while, the estimated program run time is displayed.
45
Cleaning and care
The cover must be opened to clean the inside of the filter: Press catches together in the direction of the arrows as shown, and open the filter . Rinse all the filters under running water. Then close the flap so that the catch engages.
46
Replace the filter combination so that it lies flat in the base of the wash cabinet. Then turn the handle clockwise until both arrows point towards each other. This will lock the filter combination in place.
Take care when you are fitting the filter combination that it is secured in position correctly. Otherwise coarse soil could get into the circulation system and cause a blockage.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the spray arms Particles of food can get stuck in the spray arm jets and bearings. The spray arms should therefore be checked regularly (approx. every 4 - 6 months). Turn the commercial dishwasher off. Remove the spray arms as follows: Take out the cutlery tray (if your dishwasher is fitted with one).
Pull the lower spray arm firmly upwards to remove it.
Push the upper spray arm up to engage the inner ratchet and unscrew the spray arm. Push the middle spray arm in to engage the ratchet. Then unscrew the spray arm . Remove the lower basket.
Use a pointed object to push food particles that are stuck in the spray arm jets into the spray arm. Rinse the spray arms thoroughly under running water. Replace the spray arms and check that they rotate freely.

Problem solving guide Noises Problem
Possible cause and remedy
Knocking noise in the wash cabinet.
A spray arm is hitting the dishware. Interrupt the program, and rearrange the items which are obstructing the spray arm.
Rattling noise in the wash cabinet.
Dishware is moving around in the wash cabinet. Interrupt the program and rearrange loose pieces. A foreign object (e.g. cherry pit) has become lodged in the drain pump. Remove the foreign object from the drain pump (see: "Cleaning the drain pump and non-return valve")
Knocking noise from the water pipe
This may be caused by the installation or the diameter of the water pipe. This has no effect on the functioning of the commercial dishwasher. If in doubt, contact a plumber.
53
Problem solving guide Poor cleaning results Problem
Possible cause and remedy
The dishes are not clean.
The dishes were not loaded correctly. See notes in "Loading the dishwasher". The program was not suitable for the requirements. Select a more suitable program (see "Program overview"). Not enough detergent was dispensed. Increase the dosage. The cleaning detergent used is not suitable for the type of soiling present. Switch to another detergent. Items are blocking the path of the spray arms. Rearrange the items so that the spray arms can rotate freely. The filter combination in the base of the wash cabinet is not clean or is not correctly fitted. This may cause the spray arm jets to get blocked. Clean and/or fit the filter combination correctly. Clean the spray arm jets, if necessary (see "Cleaning and care"). The non-return valve is open and blocked. Dirty water has flowed back into the wash cabinet. Clean the drain pump or the non-return valve (see "Maintenance").
Smearing appears on glassware and cutlery, there is a bluish sheen on the surface of glassware; film can be wiped off.
The rinse aid dosage is set too high. Reduce the dosage (see "Settings menu, Rinse aid").
Dishware is not dry, or glasses and cutlery are spotty.
The rinse aid dosage is set too low or the rinse aid reservoir is empty. Replenish the rinse aid, increase the dosage or change the brand of rinse aid used (see "Adding rinse aid"). Dishware was taken out of the cabinet too soon. Leave dishes in longer (see "Operation").
54
Problem solving guide Problem
Possible cause and remedy
White residue is visible on the dishware. Clouding occurs on glassware and cutlery; the deposit can be wiped off.
The rinse aid dosage is too low. Increase the dosage (see "Settings menu, Rinse aid"). The salt reservoir is empty. Fill the salt reservoir (see "Filling the salt reservoir"). The water softener is programmed to too low a water hardness level. Program the water softener to the correct value (see "Settings, Water hardness").
Glasses have a brownish-blue discolouration; the deposit cannot be wiped off.
Detergent deposits. Switch to another detergent right away.
Glasses are dull and The glassware is not dishwasher-proof. The surfaces discoloured; the deposit are affected. cannot be wiped off. Purchase glassware which is dishwasher-proof. Tea or lipstick stains have not been completely removed.
The wash temperature of the selected program was too low. Select a program with a higher wash temperature. The bleaching effect of the detergent is too low. Switch to another detergent.
Plastic parts are discoloured.
Natural dyes e.g. from carrots, tomatoes or ketchup may be the cause. The amount of detergent used or its bleaching effect was not sufficient to deal with natural dyes. Use more detergent (see "Operation, Adding detergent"). Discolored plastic items will not regain their original color.
There are rust stains on A program was not run after dishwasher salt was the cutlery. added. Traces of salt have got into the wash cycle. Always run the "Rinse & Hold" program without a load after refilling salt. The affected items are not corrosion resistant. Purchase cutlery which is dishwasher-proof. 55
Maintenance Cleaning the water intake filter A filter is incorporated in the screw connection of the valve on the water inlet hose. The filter must be cleaned when dirty, otherwise insufficient water flows into the wash cabinet.
The plastic housing of the water connection contains an electrical component. The housing must not be dipped in water.
Recommendation If the water supply contains a large amount of insoluble substances, we recommend fitting a large-area filter between the tap and the water inlet hose. This filter is available from Miele Service.
To clean the filter Disconnect the commercial dishwasher from the electrical supply (turn the commercial dishwasher off, unplug it or disconnect or disable the fuse). Turn off the water supply. Unscrew the water inlet valve.
56
Take the seal ring out of the screw connection. Withdraw the filter using pointed pliers and rinse clean under running water. Take care when withdrawing the filter not to pull out or dislodge the flow regulator located underneath the filter. Replace the filter and washer, making sure they are sitting correctly. Reconnect the water intake valve to the faucet, making sure it goes on correctly and is not cross-threaded. Turn on the water faucet back on. If there is a leak, the inlet hose might not be secured properly, or it may have been screwed on at an angle. Unscrew and reconnect the water inlet hose correctly before tightening it.
Maintenance Cleaning the drain pump and non-return valve If the water has not been pumped away at the end of a program, the drain pump or the non-return valve might be blocked. They are, however, easy to clean. Disconnect the commercial dishwasher from the electrical supply (turn the commercial dishwasher off, unplug it or disconnect or disable the fuse). Remove the filter combination from the wash cabinet (see "Cleaning and care, Cleaning the filters"). Scoop the water out of the wash cabinet using a small container.
The drain pump is located beneath the non-return valve (arrow). Remove all foreign objects from the drain pump (watch out for glass splinters which are particularly difficult to detect and could cause injury). Turn the drain pump impeller by hand to check that there are no more obstructions. You will feel a little resistance when you turn the impeller. Carefully replace the non-return valve.
Make sure the catch engages correctly!
Press the catch for the non-return valve inwards .
Be careful not to damage any delicate components when cleaning the drain pump and the non-return valve.
Lift the non-return valve and rinse well under running water. Remove all foreign objects from the non-return valve.

Plumbing The Miele WaterProof System Provided your commercial dishwasher has been installed correctly, the Miele Waterproof system will provide protection against water damage throughout its lifetime.
Water intake The water in the commercial dishwasher is not safe to drink! – The commercial dishwasher must be connected to the water supply in accordance with local regulations. – The water used must at least comply with national regulations for drinking water quality. If the water supply has a high iron content, there is a danger of corrosion occurring on items being cleaned in the dishwasher, as well as the appliance itself. If the chloride content of the water exceeds 100 mg/l, the risk of corrosion to items being cleaned in the dishwasher will be further increased. – In certain regions (e.g. mountainous regions), the water composition may cause precipitates to form, requiring the use of softened water for the commercial dishwasher. – The commercial dishwasher is equipped with a safety system for the protection of drinking water and may be connected to the water supply without a backflow preventer, if national regulations permit.
66
– The water pressure (flow pressure at the take-off point) must be between 30 and 1000 kPa (4.5 and 145 psi). If the water pressure is lower than this, the fault message Water intake will appear in the display (see "Problem solving guide"). If the water pressure is too high, a pressure reducer valve must be fitted. 3
– A shut off valve with a /4" male thread connection must be provided on site. It should be easily accessible because the water supply should be turned off when the commercial dishwasher is not in use. – The inlet hose is an approx. 1.5 m (59") long pressure hose DN 10 with 3 an /4" female thread. A 1.5 m (59") long flexible metal extension hose tested to 14,000 kPa (2030 psi) is available as an optional accessory if required. On no account may the inlet filter and the flow regulator in the screw connection be removed.
Plumbing To avoid any damage to the appliance, the commercial dishwasher must only be connected to a fully vented plumbing system.
The inlet hose must not be shortened or damaged in any way as it contains electrical components (see illustration).
67
Plumbing Connecting the drain hose
Venting the drainage system
– The drainage system of the commercial dishwasher is equipped with a non-return valve, which prevents dirty water from flowing back into the commercial dishwasher via the drain hose.
The drainage system must be vented if the on-site connection is situated lower than the guide path for the lower basket rollers in the door. Otherwise a siphoning effect during a program can cause the commercial dishwasher to empty itself of water.
– The commercial dishwasher drainage hose should be connected to a separate drain for the dishwasher only. If no separate drain is available, we recommend connecting it to a dual-chamber siphon.
To vent it: Open the commercial dishwasher door fully.
– The commercial dishwasher is equipped with a 1.5 m ( 59") flexible drain hose with an internal diameter of 22 mm (7/8"). Hose clips are supplied with the commercial dishwasher. – The drain hose must not be shortened. The hose can be extended using a connection piece to attach a further length of hose. The drainage length must not be longer than 4 m and the delivery head no higher than 1 m. – The drainage system must be able to accommodate a minimum drainage flow of 16 l/min.
Make sure that there are no kinks in the hose, and that it is not squashed or stretched.
68
Pull the lower spray arm firmly upwards to remove it. Cut off the cover of the vent valve in the wash cabinet.

This function can be deactivated if wished. Select the desired setting and press the centre button to confirm.
If you have deactivated the automatic door opening function but would still like to open the door at the end of the program, make sure that you open the door fully. Otherwise steam from the commercial dishwasher could damage the edge of the counter because the fan is no longer running.
72
Settings menu Optimize Standby To save energy, the commercial dishwasher will switch to Standby mode a few minutes after the last time a button has been pressed or a few minutes after the end of the program. The display and the indicator lights will go out and only the Start/Stop indicator light will flash slowly. If you do not turn the commercial dishwasher off after a program has ended, it will switch off automatically after several minutes in Standby. The Optimize standby function can be deactivated if wished. The display and the indicator lights will not go out, and the time lapse before the commercial dishwasher turns off will increase to approx. 6 hours, resulting in higher energy consumption. Select the desired setting and press the centre button to confirm. The commercial dishwasher will not switch into Standby mode whilst a program is running, if salt or rinse aid needs to be replenished or there is a fault.
73
Settings menu Refill reminders The refill messages can be turned off to let the commercial dishwasher go into Standby mode without first refilling. However, fault messages cannot be turned off. If you want the commercial dishwasher to switch to Standby mode in spite of the Refill messages, you can switch both indicator lights off.
Check filters You can adjust the interval at which the message to remind you to check the filters appears. You can set an interval of between 30 and 60 program cycles. The reminder to check the filters is set at the factory to appear after every 50 program cycles. This function can be deactivated if wished.

Value in %
0.50% is set as standard. The dispensed quantity can be modified between 0.17 and 1.67% in 0.03 0.04% steps.
Prime DOS The DOS system will not dispense reliably if there is air in the system. The DOS system must be vented: – if the dispensing system is being used for the first time, – if the liquid detergent reservoir was not refilled in time and the DOS system was emptied. – if the detergent canister was replaced.
To ensure that the dispensing system functions properly, prior to priming make sure that the detergent container is full enough and that the dispensing lances are firmly attached to the containers.
Setting the dosage: Set the dosage according to the detergent manufacturer's recommendations. The commercial dishwasher uses approx. 6.5 l of water for the main wash cycle. Example: The detergent manufacturer recommends 4 ml (or 0.07%) of detergent per litre of water. 6.5 l x 4 ml/l = 26 ml. (6.5 l x 0.07%/l = 0.455 %)
Select Start venting and press the centre button to confirm. The priming process begins. The remaining time appears in the display. The "Pre-wash" program is offered directly after the priming process is finished. Start the program in order to dilute and drain any detergent that escaped into the wash cabinet.
