Using Photo Story 3 Download Photo Story 3: http://microsoft-photo-story.en.softonic.com/ Begin a New Story – Creates a new project. Edit a Project – Continue creating an existing project. Play a Story – Watch a movie from a project. Continue Working on the Current story – Continue editing a current project.
Import Pictures into Your Project: • •
Click import pictures. Browse to where the pictures are stored on your computer. Select the photos, click OK. The pictures will show on the timeline.
Adding and Editing Photos Editing and Rotating:
The buttons under the preview image of the photo. Select which photo, then click the appropriate button.
Changing the Order of the Photos:
Click and drag the photo to a new spot on the timeline, OR click the arrow buttons to the right of the timeline.
Color Correct Levels – Corrects white balance/ contrast. Correct Red Eye - Removes red eye caused by flash. Rotate - Rotates the image to the left or right. Remove Black Boarders – Removes the outside boarder by cropping the image.
Additional Features Under Edit: Correct Contrast - Auto corrects the contrast Crop – Crop out part of the image. Effect - Adds artistic filters: sepia, B&W, etc.
Adding and Adjusting Font Adding Text:
Select the picture, type in the upper right hand box. Text can be aligned left, right, and center by clicking the icon box above the text box.
Effect:
Sepia, B&W, etc.
Changing the Text: After clicking the A icon are options to change the size, font type, and style.
Recording Voice Narration Testing Voice Narration:
Click the microphone icon • If the mic is recognized, the levels will raise on when speaking. Adjust the slider to raise or lower the level. The levels should not reach the top or they will distort.

Click the round record button to start recording narration over the image. Click the stop button to stop recording. The back arrow button will delete the recording. Click preview to hear what recorded.
Key Frames and Transitions Customizing Motion:
Click the customize motion button below the preview of the picture. • Change the marquee box to how the image will start/end. Example: The left image will start only showing the Marywood University text, then zoom out showing the entire image. There is an option to set the duration of the motion. •
Setting Transitions:
Click the Transitions tab. Various transitions are available , they will preview in the player on the top. Set the duration of each transition.
Adding Music Adding Music:
Select the picture the music will start on. Click Select Music. Browse to locate the song, click OK. The song will appear under the image. There are music loops built into Photo Story. Click Create Music. Select the tempo, style, mood, etc.
Previewing:
Click Preview to hear what the music sounds like. Click OK when finished, or cancel to exit. Raise or lower the volume bar to adjust the level.
Exporting and Saving to a CD Exporting Project:
• First, save the project by clicking Save Project. Select a format then click Save to Computer. • Name the video and select the location to save it. Click Next, the video will export as a movie. (.wmv)
Burning to a CD: Insert a blank CD into the computer. Go to My Computer, open the CD Drive. Drag the movie file into the finder window. Click File, Burn to Disk.
Tips: • Use index cards to organize ideas/structure the order. • Use images to give the viewer an understanding of the environment/feel they’ve met the subject. • Test the CD in the classroom before presenting. • Mics, a recording room, and assistance are available:
