Please ensure you follow the steps below before using this appliance. We recommend you keep the original packaging for storing your Pizza Oven when not in use. 1. Unpack the product but keep all packaging material until you have made sure your new Pizza Oven is undamaged and in good working order. Plastic wrapping can be a suffocation hazard for babies and young children so ensure all packaging materials are out of their reach. 2. Remove the twist-tie which is securing the electrical cord. Uncoil the cord and straighten it to remove any kinks. Do not use the product if these parts are damaged. In case of damage, phone the After Sales Support line. 3. Wipe the exterior housing and inner surface of the Pizza Oven with a damp cloth and then dry thoroughly. Do not immerse it in water or other liquids. 4. Wash the removable pizza pan in warm soapy water prior to first use. 5. Plug the power cord into a power outlet and switch on. 6. Place the pizza stone on the rotary base and then switch on the dual heating elements, set temperature control dial to 150°C and set timer dial for 15 minutes. This will burn off any lubricants from the Pizza Oven’s heating elements and will also help to seal the pizza stone. NOTE: You may notice a slight odour being emitted from the Pizza Oven during the initial use. This is normal and the odour will cease with continued use. AFTER SALES SUPPORT 1300 777 137 [email protected] MODEL: IA0397 PRODUCT CODE: 49648 06/2015 09 Instructions Timer The timer can be set for up to 30 minutes. The elements will only begin to heat once the timer has been set, and the lid shut. Once the timer has finished counting down, heating will automatically stop and the bell will ring to indicate the timer has elapsed. Temperature Control Dial Set your desired heating temperature, from 0 up to 250°C. Heating Elements Dual – Operates both the lower and upper heating elements. Lower – Operates the lower heating element for cooking the base of the pizza. Upper – Operates the upper heating element for cooking the toppings of the pizza. OFF – Turns heating elements off. Cooking on the Pizza Stone 1. Plug the power cord into a power outlet and switch on. 2. The control dials should all be set at the OFF position – lift the lid and ensure the pizza stone is sitting correctly on the rotary base, and there is nothing else in the Pizza Oven. 3. Pre-heat the Pizza Oven by turning the temperature control dial to 150 °C and then set your timer to at least 5 minutes. When cooking with the pizza stone, make sure dual heating element mode is selected. TIP: Pre-heating your oven before use will ensure better results. 4. If you are cooking fresh dough pizza, lightly coat the surface of the stone with some plain flour before placing the pizza directly onto the surface of the pizza stone. CAUTION: If making your own pizza, it is recommended to make it on a separate board and then transfer it to the pizza stone once you are ready to cook. Be careful not to over-fill or mount your toppings too high – the toppings should always be below the height of the top heating element to avoid burning them. WARNING: The pizza stone will be hot after the pre-heat. DO NOT TOUCH IT AT ANYTIME DURING THE COOKING PROCESS. AFTER SALES SUPPORT 1300 777 137 [email protected] MODEL: IA0397 PRODUCT CODE: 49648 06/2015 10 Instructions (cont) 5. If you are cooking frozen pizza, make sure it has completely thawed, then slide directly onto the pizza stone. 6. Close the lid of your Pizza Oven and then select the desired temperature and time. As a guide, for a pizza with medium base try 20 minutes at 200 °C. As every pizza will have different thickness and topping levels, some pizzas may cook faster than others. 7. If you see the toppings cooking too fast and starting to burn, adjust the temperature to a lower setting. If it is cooking too slowly, adjust the temperature to a higher setting to raise the cooking temperature. TIP: When you see that the toppings have cooked, switch off the top element and leave the lower heating element on for a further 3-5 minutes to cook the base. 8. Once you have finished cooking your pizza, turn all the control dials to OFF, lift the lid and remove the pizza with a spatula. Cooking on the Pizza Pan 1. Please ensure the pizza pan has been washed in warm soapy water prior to using for the first time. 2. Place the pizza pan onto the rotary base, ensuring it sits correctly. 3. Pre-heat the Pizza Oven for at least 5 minutes at 150 °C. Use both top and lower heating elements when cooking with the pizza pan. 4. Transfer your fresh pizza (or frozen pizza ensuring that it is fully thawed) to the pizza pan after the pre-heat has completed. 5. Follow the same steps as cooking with the pizza stone, steps 6-8. Place the flour, yeast and salt into a large bowl and mix well. 2. Make a well in the centre of the flour, yeast and salt mixture, then add the water and olive oil. The water needs to be warm to activate the yeast and encourage it to grow. If the water is too hot it can kill the yeast. Use a wooden spoon to stir until combined and then use your hands to bring the dough together in the bowl. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky. 3. Move the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 3 minutes or until the dough is almost smooth. If the dough seems a little too wet then sprinkle a bit more flour. 4. Place the ball of dough in a bowl that has been coated lightly with olive oil. Turn the dough around in the bowl so that it gets coated with the oil. Cover with plastic wrap and let it sit in a warm place (ideally 30°C) until it doubles in size (approx. 1 – 1.5 hours). Why does the stone or pan not rotate? • Ensure the Pizza Oven is on. • Ensure the stone or pan is aligned correctly on the rotary base. • The Pizza Oven will only work if the timer, temperature and heating element settings have been selected. Why does the top of the pizza burn? • The temperature may be set too high, lower the cooking temperature until the thermostat indicator light turns off. Alternatively, you can turn off the top element and have the lower element cooking only. • Ensure you do not overload the pizza with toppings getting too close to the heating element. Why does the bottom of the pizza burn? • The lower heating element may be burning the base, switch off and only cook using the top element. How do I clean the pizza stone? • Scrape off any excess food with a spatula or a stiff bristled brush. Wipe clean with a paper towel or clean dishcloth. Never use water or any detergents.
