5. MAINTENANCE Make sure that the machine is not live when carrying out maintenance work on the motor The Powercraft machines have been designed to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper machine care and regular cleaning.

Cleaning Regularly clean the machine housing with a soft cloth, preferably after each use. Keep the ventilation slots free from dust and dirt. If the dirt does not come off use a soft cloth moistened with soapy water. Never use solvents such as petrol, alcohol, ammonia water, etc. These solvents may damage the plastic parts. Lubrication The machine requires no additional lubrication. Faults Should a fault occur, e.g. after wear of a part, please contact the service address on the warranty card. In the back of this manual you find an exploded view showing the parts that can be ordered.

Environment To prevent damage during transport the machine is delivered in sturdy packaging. The packaging is made of recyclable material wherever possible, so make use of the possibility of recycling the packaging. Faulty and/or discarded electrical or electronic apparatus have to be collected at the appropriate recycling locations.

Tile cutting set Fig. 5 With help of a special accessory the combitool can be used for cutting tiles (a special cutter for tiles is also enclosed). Like this the combitool can cut easily shapes from ceramic tiles (apertures for wall sockets etc.).

COMBITOOL PKW-160N Carefully read this manual before using the machine. Make sure that you know how the machine functions and how to operate it. Maintain the machine in accordance with the instructions to make sure it functions properly. Keep this manual and the enclosed documentation with the machine. Intended use This appliance is developed for DIY-use and can be used e.g. for drilling small holes in wood or synthetic materials, engraving of glass, grinding of bolts, polishing smooth surfaces etc. Contents: 1. Mounting the stand for the combitool Fig. 4b • Mount the stand on the side of a workbench or worktop with a maximum thickness of 55 mm. • The height of the stand is adjustable. Loosen the top tube of the stand by turning it anticlockwise. Draw the tube out to its maximum height and secure it by turning the tube clockwise. • The height of the suspension bracket is adjustable by loosening the black knob. After adjusting the suspension bracket to the correct height, retighten the knob. • Attach the Combitool to the suspension bracket of the stand; this suspension bracket can be turned 360°.
4. ACCESSORIES FOR THE COMBITOOL Powercraft does not deliver spare accessories for the Combitool. The Combitool is designed to use the standard accessories (with collet diameter 3,2 or 2,4 mm) of Dremel, Black & Decker, Bosch or Proxxon. Always check that the maximum rpm of the accessory is suitable for the maximum speed of the Combitool.

Use low speed (with respect to high temperatures) with plastics and other materials with a low melting temperature. Use low speed (with respect to damaging the brushes) during cleaning, polishing and brushing. Use high speed when working with steel or iron.
Tip for cutting: Use paraffin or other suitable lubricant on the cutter to prevent the cut material from adhering to the cutter teeth.

UK • Compare the maximum number of revolutions allowed of the accessories with the number of revolutions of the machine. • When you put the machine away the engine must be switched off and moving parts must have reached a standstill. • Never attach an assembly spanner to your machine with a piece of string or anything similar. • Never use the axle locking button if the machine is operating. • Make sure that the collet diameter is the same as the axle diameter of the accessory. • Use a clamping device for securing the work piece. • Keep your hands away from the work piece.

Before assembly always remove the plug from the mains.

Operation Fig. 2 Press down the spindle lock button (2) and hold it down. Using the collet spanner you can undo the collet (1). Put the accessory in its place. Hold down the spindle lock button when you fasten the collet with the collet spanner.
Class II machine - Double insulation - You don't need any earthed plug. Denotes risk of personal injury, loss of life or damage to the tool in case of nonobservance of the instructions in this manual.
Never operate the spindle lock button if the engine is still rotating. Denotes risk of electric shock. Operation Fig.2 • Switch on the machine by engaging the on/out switch (A). By adjusting the adjusting wheel (B) you can regulate the speed of the Combitool.

Mounting the flexible shaft Fig. 4a • Screw the black ring off the chuck and remove it. • Mount the flexible shaft on the Combitool, placing the inner shaft (1) in the chuck. The black ring of the flexible shaft (2) can then be fastened onto the Combitool.

Keep work area clear. Cluttered areas and benches invite injuries. Consider work area environment. Do not expose power tools to rain. Do not use power tools in damp or wet locations. Keep work area well lit. Do not use power tools in presence of flammable liquids or gases. Guard against electric shock. Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces (e.g. pipes, radiators, refrigerators). Keep visitors away. Visitors should be kept away from the work area at all times. Do not let visitors handle the Combitool at any time. Store unused tools. When not in use keep tools out of reach of children. Store in a dry and secure location. Do not force tool. Do not apply undue pressure as this may affect performance and may cause damage to the machine. Forcing the job also increases the potential for accidents. Use right tool. Do not force small tools or attachments to do the job of heavy duty tool. Do not use a tool for purposes not intended. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. They can be caught in moving parts. Rubber gloves and nonskid footwear are recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair. Use safety glasses. Also use face or dust mask when operation is dusty. Connect dust extraction equipment If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities ensure these are connected and properly used. Do not abuse cord. Never carry tool by cord or yank it to disconnect it from electrical socket. Keep cord from heat, oil and sharp edges. Secure work. Use clamps or a vice to hold work. It's safer than using your hand and it frees both hands to operate tool. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Inspect tool cords periodically and, if damaged, have repaired by authorized service facility. Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if damaged. Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease.

15. Disconnect tools. When not in use, before servicing and when changing accessories such as blades, bits and cutters. 16. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Form the habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from tool before turning it on. 17. Avoid unintentional starting. Do not carry plugged-in tools with finger on switch. Be sure switch is off when plugging in. 18. Outdoor use extension cords. When tool is used outdoors, use only extension cords intended for use outdoors and so marked. Always use tool in conjunction with a residual circuit breaker device. 19. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate tool when you are tired. 20. Check damaged parts. Before further use of the tool, a guard or other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service centre unless otherwise indicated elsewhere in this instructions manual. Have defective switches replaced by an authorized centre. Do not use tool if switch does not turn on and off. 21. Warning. The use of any other accessory or attachment other than recommended in this operation instructions or the catalogue may present a risk of personal injury. 22. Have your tool repaired by an expert. This appliance is manufactured to very high standards and meets relevant safety regulations. Repairs should only be done by a suitable qualified electrical engineer or otherwise. 23. Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate. Your machine is double insulated in accordance with EN 50144; therefore no earthwire is required. Using extension cables Only use an approved extension cable suitable for the power input of the machine. The minimum conductor size is 1.5 mm2. When using a cable reel always unwind the reel completely. • When the mains cord is damaged, it has to be replaced by an authorized repair centre, to prevent dangerous situations. • Always keep the cord away from the moving parts of the machine. • In the case of locking, switch the machine off immediately and remove the plug from the mains.
