Check Paper Handling Devices
Reduce job complexity or add more memory. Try an alternative Print Driver (PCL5, PCL6 or PostScript). Ensure media is correctly configured at 1) Control Panel, 2) at the Tray and 3) in the Print Driver. Power cycle printer. Verify the printer has the latest version of firmware. Disconnect network cable; not if the error clears. Determine if a specific file, or if a specific set of actions causes the error. (1) Verify all connections (reseat Fuser) (2) Fusing Assembly (3) High Voltage Power Supply (1) Verify all connections (2) Laser/Scanner Assembly (3) DC Controller PCA (Check J83, J84) Bad Memory DIMM Remove DIMMs and attempt to print a Configuration Page. Remove sealing tape! Ensure drum ground spring (spring on the left-hand side wall of the toner cartridge cavity) is in the correct position. Change toner cartridges. Re-seat Formatter Cage! Replace Formatter. Replace DC Controller PCA. Remove all paper handling devices, and then add them back one at a time. Inspect fan for operation at power-up.

Network Troubleshooting
This procedure erases and reformats the printer’s Hard Disk Drive. Always attempt to print a Configuration Page and a Cold Reset before attempting this procedure. An NVRAM Init procedure clears the serial number, event log, network settings and restores all factory settings. The Service Menu allows you to change the following: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Clear Event Log Total Page Count Refurbish Page Count Maintenance Count Maintenance Interval Serial Number Service Id Cold Reset Paper Size
In the Diagnostic Menu, you may do the following: ~ Print Event Log ~ Show Event Log ~ Paper Path Test Select Destination IP Address. (select a working IP Address) Select Packet Size. (64) Timeout (1 second) Count (16) Print Results (Yes) Execute (Yes)
Is the Link LED illuminated? Can the printer, print the EIO Configuration Page? ~ Does the Config Page say “I/O Card Ready”? ~ Is the network protocol (e,g., TCP/IP) say “Ready”? ~ Is there an I/P Address? ~ Is the “Config By” method set correctly? ~ Is the “Domain Name” correct?
Indicates good cable; live network node.
Can you “Ping” the IP Address from your PC?
This test confirm your product is on the network.
Can you talk to the printer through the Embedded Web Server?
EWS confirms two-way network connectivity.
Do other printers on the network function successfully?
Please confirm if your printer is an isolated case or if there is a general
Important to generate a complete Configuration Page. All parameters must be correct.
8/8/2007 network problem. Does your printer have the latest firmware revision?
