www.rvmagazine.co.nz rvlifestyle REVIEW DETHLEFFS C’GO CARAVANS The Dethleffs caravans are well priced: the C’Go 430 is $$49,900 and the 515 is $53,900 POCKET-SIZED PERFECTION Words Robyn Dallimore T alking with so many people at a motorhome show is great, and there’s always a lot of friendly debate over motorhome versus caravan preferences. AL-KO chassis, axle, stabilisers, braking system and anti-sway coupling make these models so easy to track and tow As I tell readers, it really is horses for courses, and the answer is a matter individual choice that relates more to who you are as a person, how you holiday, how you intend to use a vehicle and how often. When talking caravans though, another consideration is the tow vehicle required – do you have one already and you want to get a caravan that is weight-relative to that vehicle, or are you happy to purchase a new vehicle to match the perfect caravan, that may be longer and heavier than your current car will handle? I spotted a couple of absolute little pearlers in the DeLuxe Group display in Nelson that I must share with readers. Central RV in Taupo is the North Island agent for Dethleffs caravans, while DeLuxe Group in Blenheim is the South Island agent of these little beauties. This is a three-berth model so the dining area converts to the third berth Why did these take my fancy? Absolute value for money, super light for easy towing, and packed with everything you need from separate bed, large 142L fridge, and a bathroom with swivel cassette toilet and shower combine, mirror, a vanity unit, and overhead cupboards for storage. The dining areas are good spaces with storage under seats and overhead. The kitchen is Lightweight, easytowing caravans, all on the AL-KO chassis 36 LIKE US ON FACEBOOK rvlifestyle Why did these take my fancy? Absolute value for money, super light for easy towing, and packed with everything you need as big – if not bigger – than those in many motorhomes, and offers three gas hobs, plenty of drawers and overhead cupboards for storage, plus 90L fitted fresh and grey water tanks (no wheel-away tanks here). Heating is via a Truma ducted gas system, and hot water comes from the 13L Whale gas/electric water heater cylinder system. 12 volt LED lighting is standard in all models. A 160W solar system and 100Ah AGM battery is installed here in New Zealand. I like that the C’Go 430 QS is only 6290mm total length, with a body length is 4990mm. www.rvmagazine.co.nz rvlifestyle DETHLEFFS C’GO CARAVANS The bathroom is bigger than our motorhome, lots of storage and The fixed bed is a great size, roof vents for light and ventilation, and lots of cupboards for storage above everything you need right there Width is 2300mm with a GVM of 1500kg – Tare 1127kg – so this tiny model offers a huge 373kg payload. The C’Go 515 is slightly longer at 7370mm total length, the GVM is 1700kg, offering a payload of 394kg which is very good. I also like the modern interior finishes with Scandinavian light high gloss cupboards, and wall finishes that are so trendy, bright and easily cleaned and maintained. Exterior-wise, these models are based on the heavy-duty zinc plated AL-KO chassis and axle, with stabiliser legs, shock absorbers and the AKS stabiliser and braking systems and AL-KO anti-sway coupling The exterior walls are Riffeled aluminium, which I liked; the awning is integrated into the body. Exterior side locker storage can be accessed from inside as well, and the front boot is expansive and holds the spare wheel and gas bottles. Double-glazed windows and skylights all have fly screens and blinds. Being a German manufactured product means insulation is very good with 28mm sides and roof, and 41mm thick floors, great for camping in really cold climates. These models and the larger Nomad and Exclusiv models will be on display at the Covi Motorhome, Caravan and Outdoor SuperShow in Auckland mid-March, if you’re looking at a caravan be sure you check this range out – they have something to offer everyone from small and compact, to long and luxurious. C’Go 430QS this bathroom is bigger than our RnR motorhome bathroom, and has shelves and cupboards for storage - really nice space 142L three-way fridge freezer - as big as any motorhome or any large more expensive caravan rvlifestyle.co.nz 37
