Safety Information Important Safety Information ♦ Connect the V-POE-UPS to PoE networks only; do not route to the outside plant. ♦ Only qualified personnel should install or remove the V-POE-UPS. : The V-POE-UPS “PoE IN" and "PoE Out" ports are shielded RJ-45 data sockets. They cannot be used as Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) telephone sockets. Connect RJ-45 data connectors only to these sockets. ♦ The V-POE-UPS PoE IN and PoE OUT interfaces are qualified as Safety Extra-Low Voltage (SELV) circuits according to IEC 60950-1. Connect these interfaces only to SELV interfaces on other equipment. CAUTION! ♦ RISK OF EXPLOSTION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT TYPE. ♦ DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS WARNINGS! ♦ Connect the V-POE-UPS only to the IP device for which it was bought. Using the V-POE-UPS with other IP devices can cause damage to the IP device. ♦ Read the installation instructions before connecting the V-POE-UPS to its power source. ♦ Follow basic electricity safety measures whenever connecting the V-POE-UPS to its power source. ♦ A voltage mismatch can cause equipment damage and may pose a fire hazard. If the voltage indicated on the label is different from the power outlet voltage, do not connect the V-POE-UPS to that power outlet. Functions and Features The V-POE-UPS Power over Ethernet (PoE) UPS offers a compact and cost-effective power backup solution for IP phones, WLAN access points, network cameras and other IP terminal installations. The V-POE-UPS is powered by the PoE power provided over the Ethernet cable charging batteries and provides 1 hour continuous operation at power drop; PoE out as well as 12 VDC and I/O contacts are provided. The V-POE-UPS supports up to 10/100/1000Mbps pass through data rates. The V-POE-UPS can be powered by AUX 12-24 VDC or 24 VAC, becoming a low power midspan charging the batteries and providing 1 hour continuous operation at power drop; PoE out as well as additional 12 VDC auxiliary and I/O contacts are provided.
Recycling and Disposal Disposal instructions for old products. The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) national environmental initiatives have been put in place to ensure that products are recycled using best available treatment, and recovery and recycling techniques to ensure human health and high environmental protection. This product is designed and manufactured with high quality materials and components which can be recycled and reused. Do not dispose of your old product in your general household waste bin. Check for information about the local separate collection system for electrical and electronic products marked by this symbol: Use one of the following disposal options : 1. Dispose of the complete product (including its cables, plugs and accessories) in the designated WEEE collection facility. 2. If you purchased a replacement product, return your older product (including all components) to the retailer. The retailer should accept it as required by the national WEEE legislation.

V-POE-UPS EMC Compliance: ♦ FCC Part 15 class B and EN55022 class B ♦ EN55024 V-POE-UPS Safety Compliance: ♦ UL/cUL per 60950-1 2nd Ed. ♦ GS mark Preliminary Steps ♦ Apply PoE 802.3af to the V-POE-UPS, using at least cat 5e cable with an appropriate connection. ♦ Connect an input Ethernet cable to the Data & Power in port – PoE IN. ♦ Connect an output Ethernet cable to the Data & Power OUT port – PoE OUT. Verify that a power ready Ethernet compatible device is connected. The V-POE-UPS can be placed on a desktop. : Before placing the V-POE-UPS: ♦ Do not cover V-POE-UPS or block the airflow with any foreign objects. Keep the V-POEUPS away from excessive heat and humidity and free from vibration and dust. ♦ Ensure that the cable length from Ethernet network source to the V-POE-UPS does not exceed 100 meters (330 feet). The V-POE-UPS is not a repeater and does not amplify the Ethernet data signal. ♦ No “ON-OFF” switch exists; simply plug the V-POE-UPS into a PoE source. Installing the Unit Refer to Figure 1 and 2. 1. Using an Ethernet cord, connect the V-POE-UPS to a PoE 802.3af source. 2. Connect the PoE IN or OUT jack (input / output) to the remote Ethernet network switch's Patch panel and the PoE OUT jack (output) to the terminal. The V-POE-UPS can be placed on a desktop Figure 1: Connecting the V-POE-UPS - PoE IN
