Q: HOW DOES A NON-PNEUMATIC (AIRLESS) TIRE WORK? A: The TerrainArmor™ tire consists of three main proprietary elements: rim, polymeric web and a tread band. These three components are bonded together yielding a virtually indestructible tire assembly. The tread band, polymeric web and rim are each engineered for the targeted payload and terrain application.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A: TerrainArmor™ is the only tire developed specifically for off-road applications. Other tires cannot make this claim. Design innovations include high lateral stiffness and polymeric web design to maintain shape in the event of an impact or terrain challenge. This design also enables the wheel to operate at high speeds without undue vibration or noise. At 50 MPH, the TerrainArmor™ wheels are ~2dB quieter than a comparable pneumatic ATV tire.
Q: DOES MUD OR DEBRIS GET STUCK IN THE WEB BAND OF THE WHEEL?
11.25 IN / 28.5 cm
A: Polaris® specifically designed the polymeric web band with the shape, flex and compression of the tires in mind to allow for clean-out of mud, snow and debris – under most circumstances – naturally during operation.
HIGHER CAPACITY COOLING SYSTEM 200 lbs / 91 kg / 400 lbs / 181 kg
Q: CAN A CUSTOMER BUY THE WHEELS / TIRES SEPARATELY?
850 lbs. / 385.5 kg
A: Yes, Polaris® will be offering the TerrainArmor™ technology within the parts catalog and recommends fitment on Sportsman® WV 850 vehicles only. The current TerrainArmor™ tires and wheels were developed specifically for the riding characteristics of the Sportsman® WV 850 and Polaris® recommends they be only used on this vehicle at this point in time.

Q: HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM SIMILAR BRIDGESTONE OR MICHELIN MODEL TIRES?

ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING
FULL BODY STEEL EXOSKELETON
A: The most notable advantage is that the tire physically can’t go flat and can withstand tremendous impacts without compromising structural integrity. This eliminates the need for an on-vehicle spare, resulting in more available payload and a reduced logistical burden. Additionally, Polaris® can engineer every part of the tire, wheel included, to create a combination that suits a wide variety of terrain. We can design treads for rock, dirt, sand, turf and other commonly encountered riding conditions.

Q: WHEN WILL WE SEE TERRAINARMOR™ ON OTHER POLARIS® VEHICLES? A: As stated, TerrainArmor™ tires will be available first for Sportsman® WV 850 vehicle applications. We are currently developing tires that will work with a wider variety of Polaris® vehicles. Please check Polaris.com for the most up-to-date information about TerrainArmor™ tires and vehicles available with them.
Q: WHY DID POLARIS® OPT TO USE A WARN® 3,000 LB. WINCH ON THE WV 850? A: The WV 850 with TerrainArmor™ was inspired by the military version of this vehicle, the MV 850, which uses a WARN® winch. For consistency across vehicles, we'll continue to use WARN® winches for this platform.
