DECIDE HOW YOU WILL USE YOUR POOL • Choose the right pool to fit your lifestyle and family needs. Will it be for recreation, exercise, entertaining or some combination of all of these? If you have a general idea of your intended use of the pool, it can help you work through the design process.
KEEP YOUR PROPERTY SIZE AND FUTURE MAINTENANCE IN MIND • Consider all aspects for creating your dream backyard. Pool builders are very talented and creative when it comes to designing pools to fit in tight or awkward spaces. Your builder can help you with a basic understanding of the build and installation process. Different types of pools require different levels of maintenance. Vinyl liner pools are relatively simple to maintain. It can take just a few minutes a week to check water and chemical levels.

• Bring your initial thoughts to your dealer who will truly make your backyard “the place to be” for friends and family! Your enhanced backyard environment can add to the value of your home. Let your pool builder know all of your dreams for your pool. Maybe you would like to do a water feature or lighting system but aren’t prepared to have them installed initially. A number of very important items that are essential for the safe use of your pool may not be visible in many of the photographs, either because of perspective or camera angle, or because they were removed for photographic purposes.

These devices include, but are not limited to: • s afety ropes, which should remain in place at all times; • “No Diving” signs which are provided with all Latham Pools and which should be installed in accordance with Latham Pools instructions, on the coping or liner, where they can be clearly visible; • an area sign which is provided with all Latham Pools and must be permanently and conspicuously affixed in the pool area where all users can see it; • n ecessary means of exit and entry into the pool;

All of these devices should be installed in accordance with Latham Pools instructions, ANSI/NSPI or ANSI/APSP or ANSI/APSP/ICC standards, as well as state and local statutes and codes. Diving boards and slides require minimum depths and distances and must only be installed and used in strict compliance with the equipment manufacturer’s specifications and ANSI/NSPI or ANSI/APSP or ANSI/APSP/ ICC standards. If the pool is labeled by us as NONDIVING, then diving equipment may not be installed and any such equipment must be removed before the pool is used. Smart pool owners always think safety first. They take specific steps to ensure that their family, friends and guests are knowledgeable about the safe and sensible use of their pool.

In some pictures, the safety rope and floats have been removed from the pool for photographic purposes. The safety rope should be permanently attached at all times. We also urge you to use handrails and grabrails in accordance with the ANSI/APSP standards
