A T5dR has a snoot (QF61B) attached doing double duty as a hair light, plus separating the subject from the background. The other T5dR is in a 12x12 softbox (QF68) for fill light and the TRIO has a Wide Angle Diffuser (QF67A) attached to the front of the reflector for soft diffused light to the subject. Power levels for all three flashes were set and adjusted, plus or minus from the CoPilot until the proper lighting was attained. 9 Creative Control At Your Fingertips The CoPilot controls 3 independent remote flash groups without a local flash, or 2 remote groups with a local Qflash connected to the CoPilot accessory socket. Each flash group can be set to Manual or TTL. Power and ratio settings are easily controlled by a dial for each flash group. Here’s how the CoPilot sets up: Good news for photographers still using their older Qflashes (T2D, T3D, T4D, T5D). The CoPilot gives you the ability to use your old flash as a local flash while still getting the TTL ratio control of remotes offered by the newer T5dR and TRIO. Remote flash groups consist of Quantum TRIO, Qflash T5dR or any non-Quantum flash that can be triggered in Manual and Auto mode only, by a FreeXwire receiver. Add any number of remotes to any remote group. Zisser FreeXwire Set-up Here is another image I made at a wedding, I just couldn’t resist. The location, the architecture, colors, lights - all were calling out for a dramatic silhouette. FW9T at the camera Although the ceremony had just taken place, the guests had stepped outside for the cocktail hour and we had the place pretty much to ourselves - other than the catering staff hustling around to set the room for the reception. I did several group photographs that the bride and groom had requested and had just a short amount of time to pull off this image before everyone returned for the start of the party. My assitant was about 12 feet behind the couple with my Quantum on 1/4 power directed right back at the bride and groom. The shutter speed was just slowed enough to pick up the background candles and ceiling lighting. It’s an easy shot to pull off quickly and it’s always a favorite with the couple. Her elbow is popped away from her body defining her hour-glass figure. She looks like she stepped out of Bride’s Magazine.
