AA USB Rechargeable Battery Thanks for your purchase This is a charger for powering the 1000s of gadgets which charge from a computer’s USB socket or a 5V mains adaptor, including smartphones, satnavs, speakers, and so on. Insert 3 AA batteries, and use their power to charge other devices. It is optimised to get the best performance from rechargeable batteries, disposable batteries are also compatible.
Using the pack Insert 3x batteries using the markings inside the case to get the + and – ends of the batteries the right way around. If you have rechargeable batteries (these are usually marked Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh), these can be charged from a computer or other USB socket using the cable provided. A set of 2500mAh batteries will take around 5 hours if they are completely empty. The red LED with shine during charging, turning to green when charging has finished. Tap the ON button to wake the pack and show battery level – green is full, yellow is partially used and red is empty. You can now connect the device you wish to charge to the USB socket. If nothing is connected for 10 seconds the pack will go back to sleep.
A Flash of light The pack includes an LED flashlight, a beam with 4 levels of focused light. These are very bright – do not shine into anyone’s eyes! Tap the light button to increase brightness or hold it down for a few seconds to jump straight to max. Hold it down again to turn off.
Hints & Tips • Use Ni-Mh batteries with a capacity of 2500mAh or more for the best performance. • Ni-Mh batteries can be partially charged, and there is no need to wait until the batteries are empty before recharging them. • All 3 batteries should have the same technology, capacity and battery level. Do not mix used with new, rechargeable with disposable, 2000mAh with 2500mAh, alkaline with zinc etc. • Keep the screen off on your device for faster charging and to get the most battery life. • The supplied cable will charge the pack from any USB socket eg. an iPhone charger, PortaPow Solar Panels, Quad USB Charger, etc. • High quality 24 AWG cables to charge 1000s of devices are available on the PortaPow website • Don’t forget other ways to extend the runtime of your devices – turn down brightness, volume, turn off bluetooth, 3G, wifi and other power hungry features you don’t need. • Battery packs with built in rechargeable lithium batteries will give much longer runtime than is possible with a set of AA batteries.
