INSTALLATION GUIDE NETGEAR Power Line Home Networking Device GETTING STARTED This guide will help you install the NETGEAR PLC (Power Line Communication) devices. You can then use it to connect your Telstra T-Box to your BigPond Internet connection as an alternative to wireless or running an Ethernet cable between devices. The NETGEAR PLC kit contains the following items: 1 x White P LC adaptor unit (XAV2001) 1 x Black PLC Ethernet /Hub (XAV1004) 2 x Ethernet cables

INSTALLATION Refer to diagram below, when following the step by step instructions. Remove all of the plastic film which may be covering the equipment. Power plug XAV2001

1. Connect the White PLC adaptor (XAV2001) into a wall power socket near your modem/gateway. Do not plug the PLC unit into a double adaptor or a multi plug power board – this will reduce performance or may not work at all. 2. Use one of the supplied Ethernet cables to connect the PLC unit to a spare Ethernet port on your modem/gateway. 3. Plug the Black PLC / Ethernet hub (XAV1004) into a wall power socket near your Telstra T-Box. Do not plug the PLC unit into a double adaptor or a multi plug power board – this will reduce performance or may not work at all. 4. Use the other supplied Ethernet cable and connect one end to the dark green port labelled “1 High Priority” on the Black PLC unit. Connect the other end of the Ethernet port to the back of your T-Box. 5. Turn on the power, at the wall, to both PLC units. The 3 green lights on each unit will come on each light indicates the status of a different function. Below is a guide to what the different lights mean. Ethernet
Solid. The Ethernet port is linked, but there is no activity. • Blinking. There is traffic between an Ethernet port and the Powerline network. • Off. There is no Ethernet connection.
Powerline
Solid. The adapter is connected to a Powerline network. • Blinking. The adapter is sending or receiving data. • Off. The adapter has not found any other compatible Powerline devices using the same encryption key. Green: Link rate > 60 Mbps Orange: Link rate > 40 and < 60 Mbps Red: Link rate < 40 Mbps
Power Solid. The electrical power is on. • Blinking. The adapter is in the process of resetting, power saving mode, or security setup. • Off. There is no electrical power.
6. If you have been using a Wireless (Wi-Fi) connection for your T-Box, you will need to change your settings to a wired (Ethernet) connection. From your T-Box Main Menu select: Settings -> Internet Connection then choose Connect via Ethernet. 7. If your T-Box does not automatically find the network connection; turn the T-Box off using the power button on your remote, then turn back on.
