However, since the manufacturer has no control over the circumstances, the methods and the conditions appropriate to their intended uses, this guarantee applies only to the high quality of Polyprep products. Surface Preparation Recommendations Surfaces to be treated must be clean, solid, and free from dust, dirt, oil, soot, wax, mildew and patina. • Clean surface with the appropriate product. Polyprep cleaner, brightener and conditioner is the most common cleaner used on bare wood. • Let surface dry for a minimum of 48 hours before applying preservative. The wood must have between 12 to 18% moisture content. • Sand horizontal surfaces with sandpaper grits No. 80 and vertical surfaces with No. 120. Vacuum sanding residues. (Sanding allows for better penetration of the preservative. Precautionary measures: treatments such as dry sanding or paint film burning may generate dust and harmful fumes. If possible, the wet sanding method should be used. If exposure cannot be avoided by means of local ventilation, wear a breathing mask). Application Conditions Application Apply a protective coating on dry surfaces. • This product is ready to use, and should not be diluted. • Always wear safety goggles, a protective mask, gloves and proper protective clothing when applying the product. • Only apply the product with a paintbrush, and not by spraying or immersion. • Saturate the ends of boards and joints. • Extend drying time if temperatures are cool or if humidity is high. Allow solvent to dry completely before reinserting plants to prevent phytotoxicity. • Thoroughly wash hands with soap after product application. • To obtain more information on application methods, visit the website at www.sico.ca Note Be vigilant about the use of certain paint products as they may cause bleeding.
