PRESS INFORMATION Premium sound and ultimate ease of use
The versatile Olympus DP-311 for unbridled notetaking convenience Hamburg, 10 May 2013 – The Olympus DP-311 unites the simplicity of the past with the power of the present. Combining straightforward operating ease known from analogue cassette notetakers of yesteryear with state-of-the-art digital performance of today, users get the best of both worlds. Switch it on, turn the recording mode dial and hit the record button: it is that easy to capture notes, conversations or music and other loud sounds – in crisp, digital quality that does not degrade over time. Files are saved in MP3 format in the ample 2GB internal memory or on SD/SDHC Cards for extra versatility, if desired, which can be employed in a similar way to how cassettes were used with notetakers in the past. The unit’s large, clearly marked buttons and LCD display let users conveniently access and listen to their files using the built-in speaker. And despite the incredibly easy operation that is reminiscent of analogue recorders, the DP-311 also incorporates handy digital functions such as the Calendar Search feature to further enhance flexibility. It represents the perfect model for making a switch from analogue to digital. The compact DP-311 goes on sale from June 2013 at a recommended price of €69.99.
Back to basics – but not basic Doing away with superfluous buttons and complicated menu structures, the Olympus DP-311 lets anyone start recording – intuitively and immediately. Play, Stop and Record, Forward or Backward: each command is just a touch of a button away located on the front of the unit. To adjust to the optimal sound quality and microphone sensitivity for the desired recording type, users need simply to turn the mode dial to “Conversation”, “Dictation” 1
or “Loud Sound” – nothing else is required. The large LCD screen provides status information in large font that can be seen at a glance. The premium microphone supports a frequency range of 70Hz to 11kHz for quality recordings and a 200mW, 36mm speaker allows files to be played back clearly and with a generous volume, no matter if personal memos or recorded songs. Other features such as built-in stand, playback speed control and an external microphone jack add to this model’s convenience.
Digital versatility – supporting simplicity The DP-311 incorporates a 2GB internal memory enabling up to 166 hours of recording. For even more flexibility, the model is also equipped with an SD/SDHC Card slot. As well as providing additional memory, it allows users to swap memory cards for specific purposes – such as it was done with cassettes in the era of analogue recording. Enhancing ease a further notch, the DP-311 can also automatically copy files from the internal memory to SD Cards upon insertion.
A handy digital Calendar Search function also heightens the operating ease of the DP-311. Besides enabling files to be searched for and instantly found according to the date they were recorded, users may also utilise the Voice Memo function to make a notes or memos – such as a shopping or to do list – that can be allocated a date on which it is to be played back.
Retaining the ease and convenience of an analogue notetaker and supplementing this with the power and versatility of a digital model, the Olympus DP-311 is ideal for making the switch from analogue to digital recording. It is the top unit in the new Olympus DP series of notetakers and will retail for €69.99 from June 2013.
