Press release Passenger 2.0: Aiptek launches new black box for cars with automatic accident detection - "CarCamcorder X3"
Aiptek's new "CarCamcorder X3" automotive camera is a full HD black box providing a range of useful features. The 120° wide angle lens of the compact black 5 megapixel camera misses nothing while the car is on the move. This smart passenger even automatically records any accidents permanently to its memory.
The "Aiptek X3" records what is going on on the street when the engine starts up, without any intervention from the driver. If the memory card is full, the oldest data is automatically overwritten. The accident detection system is particularly clever. The built-in acceleration sensor allows the camera to detect impact and save the recording to the memory card permanently. There is also an option of pressing a button to record a hazardous situation permanently. This leaves no room for doubt in the event of a claim and the cause of the accident is documented seamlessly. SDHCs of between 4 and 32 GB can be used for recording.
In order to minimise memory usage, the videos are recorded in space-saving AVC format. The 2.4 inch LCD display can be used to preview or play back recordings. The built-in HDMI output can be used to display the highresolution videos (1080p at 30 fps or 720p at 60fps) on a television screen. There is also a USB port and a 3.5 mm audio jack and a composite video output.
The Aiptek Car Camcorder also features microphone, voice response and night-vision functions and movement detection. This means that, if a power supply is available, the camera automatically switches on when it detects movement in the recording area. The mounting plate supplied means that it can also be used as a surveillance camera outside the car.
The "Aiptek CarCamcorder X3" is supplied with a power adapter for the onboard power outlet, a sucker for the windscreen, a mounting plate, a USB cable and operating instructions in German.
The Aiptek in-car black box is available for 129 GBP as of mid-December.
