New Installation Option Announced for Housing Sentry UnderWater Camera Stuff has added an installation option using an ikelite control location CINCINNATI, Ohio (March, 2013) - UnderWater Camera Stuff announced that a customized fitting has been developed so the Housing Sentry may now be installed in an unused control location of an ikelite housing. This new fitting allows the ikelite user to reap the benefits of a vacuum leak-prevention system without adding another opening to their housing. This new ikelite control location fitting is the sixth option available for the Housing Sentry. The fitting is stainless steel and replaces an unused control with no modification needed to the housing. When it is time to upgrade equipment, the fitting can be removed and the original control re-installed, easily bringing the housing back to its standard configuration. The other available Housing Sentry installation options are: (1) an unused, half-inch, unthreaded bulkhead such as Aquatica or Sea&Sea; (2) an unused 14mm threaded bulkhead such as Nauticam, Subal or Seacam; (3) a bulkhead with an unused Nikonos connector; (4) aluminum housing without an open bulkhead and (5) acrylic housing. Options 4 and 5 require an additional opening be added to the housing. A satisfied Housing Sentry customer shared, “The confidence in the housing this has given me on my recent trip to the Red Sea is enormous. I had become very worried after a flood on a difficult surface swim in Sudan and this has replaced that with a confidence to do entries with the camera from the RIB and back of liveaboard. I recommend the device unreservedly.” The Housing Sentry allows a vacuum to be drawn on a housing so the photographer/videographer will know, before starting their dive, if there is a seal problem that could lead to a flood. Another benefit is the tighter seal that the vacuum will create for all o-rings and housing parts. There are currently two versions of the Housing Sentry. The Housing Sentry-Complete includes electronics that are activated by the vacuum to continuously monitor and report the housing’s status. The Housing Sentry-Basic does not include the electronics however it can be upgraded to include the electronics at a later date.
