Darda C12 heavy duty splitter cuts piles in 5 minutes and saves money. It is often seen during the cutting of RCC Piles that difficulty is felt in the type of Equipment to be used and method to be adopted, for efficient & quick cutting of the Piles. This is mainly due to the age-old design & method of construction of the RCC Piles. The Steel Reinforcement is generally placed on the periphery of the Concrete Pile and the diameter varies depending upon the size and the load bearing capacity of the Piles. Probably, at the time of construction one does not give a thought to the requirement of demolition of the Piles at some stage of their life. Methods Employed for Demolition A variety of methods have been used and are still being used for the Demolition of RCC Piles. The reinforcement on the periphery of the circular RCC Piles are normally of 32 mm diameter. (a) Mounted Breakers have not been able to provide any viable solution as these induce heavy vibrations and have tendency to weaken the structure of the Pile. (b) Pneumatic Breakers have proved successful only to some extent but the output is very low. They also cause vibrations that are transferred to the Pile. (c) Rock & Concrete Splitters, have so far been the best option. Silent and no vibrations. Suggested Best Solution – The DARDA C12 SPLITTER SYSTEM A thought to the requirement of demolition/cutting of Piles (at some stage of their life) during the construction stage will render the problem of demolition easy. A suggested method of construction of the RCC Piles is as follows: (a)
Introduce a Sheet of PVC or any other bond breaker material, around the Steel Reinforcements all through the length, while placing the reinforcement Steel Rods, on the periphery of the Concrete Pile.
(b)
Implant a rigid PVC Pipe of 44-46 mm Diameter(ID), across the diameter of the Pile right at the bottom of the Pile Section which is required to be removed. Wall thickness of the pipe should be approx. 5 mm.
(c)
Embed a Lifting Hook of adequate size and strength at the top surface and center of the Pile to facilitate lifting with a Crane.

Demolition Process The construction of the Pile as suggested above will enable use of Rock & Concrete Splitters for easy demolition of the Pile. The process of demolition involves following steps: (a)
(b) (c) (d)
(e)
When the Pile is ready to be cut, insert the Wedge set of the Splitter into the mouth of the thin steel pipe (implanted at the bottom of the Pile Section, across the diameter during the stage of construction) on either side of the Pipe. Operate both the Splitters simultaneously in order to create a clean crack across the entire cross section of the Pile. Attach Lifting Hook of the Crane of adequate capacity to the lifting hook embedded on top of the Pile during the stage of construction. Once the Pile has developed crack all through the periphery and has got separated from the bottom of the Pile, due to the PVC Sheet around the Steel Reinforcement Rods, the concrete will get separated from the Steel Rods and the Pile can be lifted clean from its base effortlessly and dumped in the Dumping Area. The Steel Reinforcements can be cut out later with welding process, if required.
Advantages of Using Darda C12 Splitter System Compared to the method presently being used for Demolition of Piles Darda Splitter System has distinct advantages. These are: (a). No Vibrations. The operation is silent and devoid of any vibrations, thus preserving the original strength and cohesiveness of the Pile. (b) Accurate. The cutting of the Pile can be achieved accurately as is desired at the exact place. Other methods are not even worth the mention as far as accuracy is concerned. (c) Very Quick. Compared to DAYS taken by any other method, the time taken by Darda Splitter System is a FEW MINUTES to cut clean the Pile. (d) Economical. This is the cheapest method as far as the cost is concerned due to the quick operation. (e) Safe. No flying debris as in the case of other methods.

(f) Underwater Operation. The Splitters are designed to operate under-water effectively.
Conclusion A forethought during the construction stage of the Pile can greatly reduce the effort required to demolish the Piles when required to do so. The Splitters are designed and are capable to work under-water, precisely for the purpose of demolition of RCC Piles. The method explained above is being extensively adopted in most of foreign Countries keeping the requirement of demolition of the Piles at some stage or the other in mind. The method, if adopted, will ease the process of demolition of the Piles effortlessly
