IMPALING CLIP a division of Radial Engineering Ltd. Primacoustic impaling clips are designed to provide the installer with a simple and effective method of mounting Broadway™ panels onto walls. The clips feature a series of sharp impaling heads that penetrate the panels for a secure semi-permanent mounting without causing serious wall surface defacement. For more permanent installations, applying construction adhesive to the panels or wall surface during the mounting process adds a level of security and reduces opportunity for tampering. Begin by deciding where you would like the Broadway panels to be installed. The area should then be marked with a pencil using a straight edge and a level. Following the diagrams below, mount the impalers on the wall. When mounting on standard sheet rock (gypsum board) we recommend using plastic drywall anchors. For wood, the impalers may be screwed into place using one inch wood screws. For concrete wall surfaces, options include drilling and mounting with concrete fasteners or gluing the impalers directly on the concrete surface. Please consult your local hardware store to ensure you select the appropriate adhesive for this type of installation. 6” from sides 24” from top edge Broadway panels are heavy enough to cause injury should they fall from a height. When mounting Broadway panels in overhead locations you may choose to increase the number of impaler clips per panel to prevent accidental dislodgement. 6” from top edge HOW MANY IMPALERS? Depending on the size of the Broadway panels you have selected and the degree of security you feel you need, a different number of impalers will be required. The minimum number of impalers for Broadway panels are detailed in the chart to the right. Impalers should be spaced approximately four to six inches from the edge of the panel to avoid the fabric that wraps around the back. Use the dimensions in the chart as a guide to measure and mark the locations of impalers. Panel size: 24” x 24” Number of impalers: 4 3.5” from side STEP 1 STEP 2 STEP 3 STEP 4 Use a straight-edge and a level to mark out pencil lines. Mark a TOP line for the panels. Mark a second SET line one inch higher. Mark points along the TOP line indicating the panel edges and gaps between panels. According to the chart above, measure in from the panel edges and down from the TOP line to mark the center locations for impaler clips. Mount the impaler clips with tips pointing up with two plastic drywall anchors or screws for each clip. Tilt the panel so just the top edge is touching the wall. Be careful not to touch the back of the panel to the impalers yet. Line up your panel with the SET pencil line and edge marks you made in step one. Placing a level on top of the panel will help keep it straight as you guide it onto the impalers. Once the panel is level on the SET line bring the back in contact with all the impalers tips and apply pressure in and down. The panel will slide onto the impalers and sink down about one inch. Use the TOP pencil line to confirm placement is level. If alignment is off the panel may be nudged up to a 1/4” to make it level.
