This eight-processor, rack-optimized, mid-range server provides the best performance for high traffic conditions encountered by Internet-based enterprises and mission critical business tasks. With excellent internal bus bandwidth and 8 MB cache per processor, this server maximizes your investment when used either as a stand-alone dedicated application engine or as a powerful node in high availability configurations.
High Performance and Scalability The latest 64-bit RISC SPARC64™ V processor fully conforms to the SPARC International V9 architecture standard. The processor also provides superior transaction performance through the use of parallel instruction processing. Our own high performance crossbar switch technology manages all the inter-processor traffic. The superior bandwidth provides excellent support for high system or peak load situations caused by On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP), data warehousing or other channel intensive applications.
Superior System Installation This rack-optimized server node provides excellent space saving in industry standard racks. Whether used for a single set of tasks or as part of a high availability system, this powerful node can be placed in the same single rack as other servers and storage nodes—making the node ideal for use by Internet Service Provider/Application Service Providers (ISP/ASP) or corporate data center environments. Solaris, the international standard operating environment, is used as the operating system for this server. This robust environment not only provides the very best-in-class platform management, but also gives you access to all tierone software vendor applications and more than 15,000 world-class specialist Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). The PRIMEPOWER 650 server offers several high reliability features, including: • Processors – the SPARC64 V processors have ECC protection on all cache levels to minimize the possibility of processor failure. • System Control Facility – an independent processor monitors, detects, diagnoses and provides notification of all system failures. Pre-failure warnings can also be detected and corrected before system failure, with all functions capable of remote monitoring. • Design Standards – the high reliability of this system matches mainframe standards in design and configuration and also features redundant and hot swappable components such as disks, power supplies and fans. The system can also dynamically manage and isolate failures of CPU, memory and I/O bus, allowing business operations to continue using remaining operational resources.
Network Management Combined with Highest Performance The NETSMART 1500 EMS allows you to manage, provision and maintain up to 8,000 SONET or WDM network elements from a single server or highly available protected server configuration.
