PRINT/CUT WORKFLOW FOR OUTDOOR DURABLE VINYL GRAPHICS
This procedure is used to create a laminated adhesive-backed vinyl graphic printed on aqueous inkjet printer and contour cut using a Roland GX--Series vinyl cutter. NOTE: Lamination is required in order for the graphic to have outdoor durabilty. This is achieved by using a secondary contour on the laminate.
1.Apply Contours Place a contour on your image using the Effects menu and choosing Contour Cut. Be sure to make any offset adjustments before clicking the check mark in Design Central. A 1/4”(.2500) secondary offset is recommended for optimal results.
2.Apply Registration Marks Place registration marks around your design using the Contour Cut Mark, located in the Effects menu. Click the check mark in Design Central to apply.
3.PRINT In the File menu, select Print to bring up the UltraFlex Print screen. Click the check mark in Design Central to apply.
4. Setup Printer Choose your printer and press the Properties button to bring up the your printer's property screen. Note: Making sure the Print Preview is checked will allow you to view your print before it is released to the printer.

5. Select Media Choose the Media Type that best suits printing on adhesive-backed vinyl material.
6. Select Media Size Next, go to the Paper tab, choose your Paper Size or select the User Defined option in the dropdown to create your own size. You can save your new size with a descriptive name for use on future projects.
7. Preview Job and Print You should now be ready to click OK on the properties window and await the Print Preview screen. Here you can determine if your design is properly oriented for printing. If it looks good, click the Print button to send it to your printer.
8. Laminate Laminate the graphic using a cold laminator, such as the Quickmount 4. Load your print into the laminator.
9. Loading Media In Cutter Then load your (laminated)print into the Roland GX-series vinyl cutter, making sure that the direction arrows are facing in (see illustration). Move the pinch rollers so that they are positioned outside the crop marks. Use the cursor keys on your cutter to move the material and position the crop marks above the cutter protection strip.
10. Cutting Outer Contour Select the Cut Contour button, click on Send and your cutter will begin searching for the first mark. Once the cutter has located three of the four registration marks, it will begin cutting the contours. NOTE: If the cutter fails to detect the crop marks, the cutter panel will display “MARK 2 NOT FOUND”. If this happens, reload the media, making sure the registration marks are properly lined up, then restart the cutter and send the job again.
