Print Server
The Mini100u2 is a USB print server equipped with a 10/100BASE-TX LAN port. The product utilizes a USB 1.1 port as its printer interface to achieve much faster data transfer compared with traditional data transfer that uses a parallel cable. The hot-swap function of the product improves the usefulness of the product as well. The printing environment offered by the product can be easily configured via a standard Web browser or the supplied configuration utility for Windows.
■ High-speed printing The product achieves printing which is more than twice as fast as conventional print servers (value based on the performance data from our testing environment). The print server thus allows the user to take full advantage of the engine speed of printer even when printing high-resolution data. ■ Supports USB printers The print server utilizes a USB port as its printer interface to achieve much faster data transfer compared with conventional products that utilize a parallel cable to transfer printing data. The USB interface also enables highly useful features including Hot Swap. * This product does not support printers requiring bi-directional parallel port or those utilizing Windows Printing System (WPS). * The Mini100u2 may not be used with multi-functional devices including FAX machines, scanners and copiers. * Only postscript printers are supported in Macintosh (AppleTalk) printing environment. ■ Supports a wide range of OSes and protocols The product not only supports standard network protocols including TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBEUI and AppleTalk, but also complies with IPP (comes standard with Windows2000/XP) and the binary mode of AppleTalk. Its compatibility with multiple OSes and protocols enables both printer sharing and easy implementation of the product in a multi-OS network environment that may contain Windows, Linux and MacOS computer clients. ■ Supports IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) The Mini100u2 utilizes Windows 2000/XP's built-in printing protocol called "IPP" to enable printing via intranets and the Internet. [Merits of IPP Compatibility] If the receiver of printing data has a printer with IPP support, the sender can directly print out document using the remote receiver's printer via the Internet. ■ Easy configuration via Web browser: SNMP eases operation management via network The operation settings of the Mini100u2 can be easily configured via a Web browser. Furthermore, the product supports SNMP and thus allows the network administrator to remotely monitor the product's operating status. The print server also comes with a configuration utility for Windows. ■ Supports DHCP Client The product requires no cumbersome manual IP configuration as it automatically obtains an IP address via its DHCP client function.
