solid, reliable, long lasting performer
The rear A-frame and all-welded construction have been the backbone of these spreaders since 1949. This rear A-frame design keeps the sides and beater panels aligned while the all-welded construction provides a solid framework that will outlast and out-perform any other box spreader on the market.
The ProSpread apron box spreaders are designed to haul and spread solid materials from feedlot and dairy operations. These spreaders are built with tough, quality components to meet the rigorous demands of dairymen and cattlemen. The rooster comb beater paddles are specifically placed for a uniform spread pattern, excellent material break-up, and dependable driveline operation.
ProSpread apron box spreaders have a full 10-year warranty on the sides and floors. If the sides or front panel rust through, or the floor breaks, Kuhn Knight will replace them FREE to the original owner. The two-piece solid poly floor reduces friction and freeze-down. It has more strength and durability than other conventional box spreader floors and provides freeze-resistant dependability you can count on in the winter hauling season. Customer convenience is built into every box spreader.

Rear A-Frame
The reinforced tongue pulls directly from the full-width axle tube. This design results in a strong and more stable box which keeps tires aligned compared to competitive box spreaders. The direct pull tongue design is superior compared to pulling from the front of the box, which puts stress on the spreader structure over time. These box spreaders have upper and lower side sheets that overlap in the floor and apron chain area. This results in double protection against wear and rust-through in the most critical area of the spreader box. The two-piece solid poly floor provides more strength and durability than individual tongue and groove boards. The floor is designed to allow for expansion and contraction and can handle the blow from heavy material when loading.
lower side/frame overlap This
cut-away view shows the lower side and frame overlap which provides added strength and double protection against rust through. The inverted U-channel cross members provide superior floor strength and reduce corrosion by eliminating trapped material.
The spread rate can be easily controlled from the tractor seat by adjusting the apron speed with an optional variable-speed control valve. This control may be needed when spreading a wide variety of solid materials like penpack, feedlot manure, dairy manure, poultry litter, compost, or other materials. The result is a controlled spread rate with the ability to adjust for a quicker final clean out. When there is a narrow window of opportunity to haul and spread, cycle time is very important. At the maximum apron speed, the largest capacity box can be unloaded in less than two minutes. If you spread solid materials and want to spread fast and consistently, the ProSpread apron box spreader is what your operation needs.
Pintle or T-bar chain
The pintle chain has high tensile strength to pull through heavy material with little worry about breaking, while a T-bar chain is simple, convenient and easier to service. A rubber-belted seal on the end gate and front panel help prevent leakage.
rooster comb beater performance and construction
Beaters, gearboxes, roller chains, shafts, bearings and sprockets are easily accessible and convenient for lubrication, service and routine maintenance. If you want a dependable, high performance unit for spreading or stockpiling, the ProSpread apron box spreader is what you need for your operation. The hydraulic apron drive is simple and has fewer moving parts than mechanical apron drive spreaders. Fewer moving parts means fewer spreader problems. These spreaders are built with the end customer in mind – they’re not only dependable, but also easy to maintain.
removable beater assembly
D
The beater assembly on the 1159 model is easily removed or installed to save wear and tear on the beaters when stockpiling manure. The entire beater assembly can be easily taken off or installed in less than 1/2 hour.
easy to service and maintain
box construction
The all-welded construction provides a solid framework and includes a reinforced tongue that pulls directly from the axle. The inverted U-channel cross members support the poly floor, providing superior strength when dumping in heavy loads.
poly floor
The high-density, two-piece, solid poly floor reduces friction and winter freeze- down to provide trouble-free service and long life. This solid floor provides more durability than individual tongue and groove boards and requires less power for unloading vs. alternative floors.
apron sprockets
The apron drive-shaft assembly includes self-cleaning, drop-forged steel sprockets welded to a high-strength steel shaft. Sprocket-type idlers on the front of the spreader provide positive tracking and easier adjustment than slide type idlers.
beater construCtion
Solid beater construction features weldedon spades supported at two locations for superior strength and reliability. Heavy-duty rooster comb, bolt-on paddles are fully replaceable and provide superior spread performance.
rooster comb beaters
Rooster comb beaters provide a wider, more consistent spread pattern with excellent material break up. Paddles are specifically placed to optimize balance for dependable driveline performance.
lower spinner beater
The lower spinner beater assures better material break-up from the spreader floor, especially in penpack material. The lower spinner beater is an option and can be easily field installed.
World-Wide Leader In Manure Spreaders
digidriveTM d
The Digidrive consists of two multiple finger couplings made from forged casehardened, heat treated steel and does not require lubrication. This construction is extremely wear resistant and allows for easy removal, installation and alignment of the beater assembly.
apron shaft assembly
This welded assembly is twice as strong as keyed sprockets that some competitive spreaders use and has no keys to shear. The entire welded sprocket assembly can be easily removed on all models for service or replacement. D
1159 models only.
accessIble roller chain
The roller chain drive for the beater driveline is easily accessible for lubrication and maintenance through the front shield. Built-in convenient hose storage keeps hoses off the ground and hydraulic tips clean to help eliminate oil contamination.

specifications
The rear A-frame keeps the sides and beater panels aligned providing a strong box integrity for long life. The round-tube bottom on the rear Aframe promotes self-cleaning by helping prevent material build up. Side stakes provide rigid support and strength, especially with dense material and heaped loads. Formed top rails provide a sturdy bucket bang rail when loading. The low profile box allows for easy loading and carries a 10-year warranty for side rustthrough and floor breakage. The model 1130 spreader will fit underneath most barn cleaners.
Endgate
A
The endgate contains the load in transport and helps prevent fly-back of manure or foreign objects when spreading. The two larger models have a swinging endgate for better material deflection. beater driveline
A, B
The beaters and beater driveline are protected by an easily-accessible shear bolt. A full-length side shield covers the beater drive shaft and provides protection for hydraulic hoses. Undercarriage
Solid welded tongue and axle are stronger and more dependable because the tongue pulls directly from the axle instead of the front of the box. The rugged tandem axle provides greater flotation and reduces soil compaction.
beaters A
The upper beater helps maintain a consistent spread pattern when the load is heaped. The main beater drives the upper and lower spinner beaters. The lower spinner beater is optional to improve spread performance. Variable-speed hydraulic apron drive The hydraulic apron drive has fewer
moving parts compared to mechanically driven aprons and allows for independent operation of beaters and apron. The hydraulic motor has built in overload protection and the optional flow control valve allows the operator to easily adjust the apron speed.

Apron gearbox
a
Worm drive or parallel shaft gearboxes are used on our spreaders. Apron drive shaft mounted gearboxes are strong, dependable and easy to service. Both gearboxes use a direct-mount hydraulic motor which eliminates drive couplers for dependability and long life. A
beater gearbox
B
The right-angle gearbox is equipped with forged gears and a high strength steel shaft. A splined shaft drives the beater providing a positive connection with easier serviceability.
Overrunning Clutch
A, B, C
The greaseable, 2-jaw, overrunning clutch allows for easy PTO hook-up and prevents beater backlash force when PTO is disengaged. The transfer shaft is piloted into the rear clutch jaw to maintain continuous alignment for dependable operation.
See specification page for more information. B To better illustrate certain details of the machinery, some safety devices may have been removed. Do not operate without all shields in place. C 1130/1140/1150 models only.
