Detail navigating function and my testing: North arrow Map zoom out button Map zoom in button Course You Zoom level (scale) Press to start, press again to stop Note: The solid arrow on screen indicates your current position & direction on the course. If you stray from the course, Forerunner 205 will briefly display “Off Course” message. Once you are back on the course, Forerunner 205 will briefly display “Course Found” message. The message is accompanied with a beep sound. The sound can be turned off. Message tends to appear often even though you are on course. Perhaps, it's due to a temporary loss of the satellite signal. However, the solid arrow of your current position & direction is very stable. You should rely on this solid arrow for navigation and ignore the “Off Course” message. Once you arrive at final destination, Forerunner 205 will briefly display “Course Complete” message. 07/29/11 - Garmin_mapping_procedure_v5.odt Page 12/14 By Vinh Vu While navigating, you still can check other screens like compass, timer, and main menu by pressing “mode” button. Then, the arrow points in the direction you should continue in order to stay on the course. When you're approaching a turn, the compass arrow will point to the turn, ahead of time. By Vinh Vu 07/29/11 - Garmin_mapping_procedure_v5.odt Page 14/14 By Vinh Vu I hope my navigation instruction is helpful. In my navigation testing, I simply used the route display and watched my position arrow. If it points to the correct direction and it is on the route, I am on course. Note: On the big highway, the arrow may not show exactly on the route but it shows parallel to the route; you are still good and on course. Good luck and have a good time running your route(s), using your Garmin as a GPS navigating device. My screen while navigating a sample course Suggestion: First try to familiar yourself with your Garmin features by mapping and navigating a simple but wellknown route in your neighborhood. If, for some reason, you can not use your Garmin to follow the route, you can always get back to the start or home on your own. Once you master your Garmin navigation features with your neighborhood route, you can easily navigate any course, anywhere. Questions: 1. The instruction above: Email me at [email protected] 2. Update software for your Garmin Training Center and Device: Go to www.garmin.com 3. Device operation: Refer to your device manual or contact Garmin technical support at www.garmin.com
