Product information | Contact Adhesive One component adhesive based on SMP. Merbenit Contact Adhesive is the latest generation of fast curing, permanent elastic adhesives, which can be a used as a solvent-free alternative to conventionnal contact adhesives. Merbenit Contact Adhesive is suitable to bond identical or different materials after drying time of 4 - 8 minutes. Merbenit Contact Adhesive builds up his strength very fast and convinces with a wide adhesion range and high strength specially on plastics like ABS, PMMA, PC in combination with metals. Stand: 10.2014 Processing: n Merbenit Contact Adhesive is applied to one or both parts with a spatula or spray in a layer of 0.2 to 0.5 mm. Depending on the material the quantity and the drying time varies. In general the drying time is 4 - 8 minutes. Please refer to our instruction manual. Bonded parts are short-time correctable. n Application examples: Installation of sound absorbing elements, large-area bonding, gluing of comb panels, sandwich panels, etc. n High strength and flexible bondings in the area of metal, apparatus and machine construction, plastics technology, airconditioning and ventilation systems, car body, wagon, vehicle and container construction. n Highly suitable materials are for example: ABS, PMMA, PC, PVC, GRP epoxide, GRP polyester, aluminium-anodized, aluminium bare, zinc, steel, V4A, PA6.6, glass, automobile alloy 6016, textiles, tissue and carton. n For all types of plastics pre-tests and the use of primer are recommended, as example: acrylic, ABS, PBT, PVC hard and soft, PPE, PA6.6-30, EPDM, GRP (for material that tends to stress cracks, an additional preliminary investigation is recommended. SWISS MADE INNOVATIVE HIGH-TECH ADHESIVES AND SEALANTS Product advantages: n Easy processing n Neutral curing system n Free of: solvents, silicone, isocyanate and pungent odour n Controlled, very fast cross-linking after 60 min already 1.0 N/mm² tensile strength n Permanently elastic and stress relieving n No deformation of thin plastic sheets due to heat development during curing process n No stress cracks in ABS bonds n The use of adhesion promoter (primer) can often be dispensed n Very low volume shrinkage n Bonded parts short-time correctable Technical data | Contact Adhesive CHEMICAL BASE n Fast curing, self-levelling, elastic one component contact adhesive based on SMP with neutral curing system. However, always examine whether a strong media- and moisture-load influence on the cross-linked polymer and material. In this case and by near porous as well as difficult surfaces we recommend always the use of a suitable adhesion promoter. SURFACE TREATMENT n The surface has to be stable, clean and free of dust, oil and fat. With acetone or isopropanol you receive good results. STICKING-SLIT n Optimal sticking-slit lies between 0.5 - 2 mm according to surface to be bonded, material extension, tension and mechanical load. Ours attempts at +180 °C, 20 minutes, show no destruction of the polymer. In the case of wet spraying attempts watery acrylic varnishes have shown a good liability and varnish picture. Sufficient pre-tests for both processes are recommended. n PACKAGING FORMS 290 ml cartridge n n 1.13 kg can n On request: 20 liter hobbock, 180 liter drum DOSAGE A fully automatic proportioning is possible. WORK AND ENVIRONMENTAL SECUTRITY n Important information about work and environmental security is available on the saftey data sheet. n CLEANING Cleaning not cured sealant: immediately with grain paper and isopropanol. n Cleaning of cured sealant: mechanically. STORAGE n In original container tightly closed, dry, protected from light and cool, 12 months storable. n Our information is based on experiences in lab and practice. Their publication occurs, however, without takeover of a liability for damages and losses which are to be put down to these information, there the practical application conditions lying outside of the control of the enterprise. The user is not released from the necessity, to carry out own attempts for the planned applications under practical conditions. Due to the different materials, processing methods and local factors, onto which we have no influence have, no guarantee– also in patent-legal respect –can be taken over. We recommend therefore sufficient own attempts. By the way we refer to our General Business Conditions. Technical changes reserved.
