This system enables users to achieve greater efficiency in clerical work by releasing them from paper-folding work that has manually been performed in the past. Please read these instructions carefully before starting to use the system to ensure you get the best results and are competent at operation. Should you experience any problems please contact your supplier. 3 Safety Instructions • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Make sure that the system is electrically grounded. This prevents an electric shock when there is a leak of electricity. Use the system at 110 – 120 VAC, 220 – 240 VAC with a frequency of 50Hz to 60Hz. A fire may start or the system may break down if a higher or lower voltage is used, or if an electric current with a frequency that is not within the range of frequency stated above. Do not place any objects on this system. A fire may start or electricity may leak if water or a foreign object enters the system. Handle the power cord with care. A fire may start or an electric shock may be caused if the cord is damaged, broken, or processed, if a heavy object is placed on the cord, or if the cord is bent forcibly. Do not pull the power plug out of or put it in the electric outlet using a wet hand. Otherwise, an electric shock may be caused. Do not remove the cover of this system. Otherwise, an electric shock or injury may be caused. Do not remodel this system. Otherwise, a fire may break out or an electric shock may be caused. If the system is used when it is in an abnormal condition, such as generating heat, emitting smoke, and giving out a strange smell, a fire may break out or an electric shock may be caused. Turn off the power switch immediately and then pull the power plug out of the electric outlet. Afterwards, report the fault to your supplier. If abnormalities such as the power cord generating heat and giving out a strange smell are found, turn off the power switch immediately and then pull the power plug out of the electric outlet. Afterwards, report the fault to your supplier. If a foreign object enters the system, turn off the power switch first and then pull the power plug out of the electric outlet. Afterwards, report the fault to your supplier. If thunder approaches, pull the power cord out of the electric outlet to prevent a fire or breakdown caused by the falling of a thunderbolt. Do not let hairs, a necktie or necklace hang above the drive of the system. Doing so may cause an injury. Do not put the system on an unstable place such as a shaky stand or a slanted floor. Doing so may cause the system to drop or fall down, causing an injury. Do not put the system in a moist or dusty place. Doing so may start a fire or cause an electric shock. Be sure to pull out the power cord while holding the plug. If the power plug is pulled out while holding the cord, a fire may break out or an electric shock may be caused. Be sure to pull the power plug out of the electric outlet first when moving this system. Otherwise, the cord may be damaged, causing a fire or an electric shock. Be sure to pull the power plug out of the electric outlet for safety purposes when this system is not used for consecutive holidays or for other reasons. 4 Information Before Use 1. Precautions on Installation Do not install it in an unstable place such as on a faltering bench or an inclined place. It may fall down or drop and cause an injury. Do not install it in a dusty place or a place of high humidity. It may cause a fire, or an electric shock. Do not install it in a place exposed to direct sunlight. Avoid a location near a window. It should be used at an ambient temperature of 5 to 35°C. Do not install it in a location near a heating equipment. Do not install it in a place exposed to a direct wind. 2. Checking Accessories Check accessories immediately after unpacking. Should an item be missing, contact your supplier. Lights up when power is on. RUN: lights up means machine is running. NONE: lights up means sheets run out or plates are not well positioned. JAM: lights up means there is a jam. Press the button, machine will fold one sheet and stop. Press this button, machine will continuously fold till sheets run out. Press the button when running, machine will stop immediately. Press the button to clear the numbers displayed or reset the machine. 7 How to Use 1. Install the upper plate. Insert the upper plate along the guide line as far as possible, and seats on the support pins A B as shown.   The lower plate is inserted in different directions for single fold and other folds. Make sure both upper and lower plates are seated firmly in position. If improperly installed, this machine will not work. 2. Install the lower plate. 2.1 For single fold. Push fold stop to the end of C direction. Then insert the lower plate along the guide line as far as possible, and seats on the support pins D E at the cutout. 2 1 2 8 1 2.2 For Letter fold, Z fold, and double fold. Insert the lower plate along the guide line as far as possible and seats on the support pins C E at the cutout. 2 1 2 1 3. Operation (1) Connect the power supply. Connect the power cord. Turn on the power switch. (2) Setting the fold stops. 2.1 Position the fold stop according to the required fold type. Push the half-nut level to loosen and move the fold stop to the required position referring to the color folding instruction on the plates. Loosen your grip and the fold stop will be locked in position.   2.2 Fine adjustment. Feed one sheet, press TEST button. Rotate the fine adjustment knob to move the fold stop to the proper position according to the instructions below. Move the fold stop by half of the distance to be corrected. For example, move the fold stop by 0.5mm if 1mm of correction is required. 9 4. Correct Fold Misalignment. Moving the fold stop if misalignment is serious: move inside if A or B is longer, move outside if A or B is shorter. DO NOT touch any moving parts during operation. DO NOT let long hair, necktie etc. hang above the machine or near to moving Parts. 10 5. Automatic mode 5.1 Turn on the power switch. 5.2 Position the fold stop referring to the folding instruction. 5.3 Pull the ejection tray out. 5.4 Open the auxiliary feed table and pull out extension feed table. 5.5 Feed paper. • Hold down the feed table, • Load sheets on the feed table and keep printed side upward, • Make sure inside edge of paper is flush with the front plate of the feed tray. • Make sure paper is well positioned to the feed tray. • Move the side guide to the edge of sheets without any clearance while keeping sheets flat.   5.6 Press START/STOP button to run the machine. Machine will stop automatically if sheets run out. You can also press START/STOP button again to stop the machine at any time.   11 • Do not let folded paper exceed the max stack line. • Make sure the sheets to be fed are clean and easily folded. • Pull out the ejection stack the length a little longer than that of sheets folded. Take the sheets out of the ejection stack in time, so the stacked sheets won’t exceed the max line, which may cause a jam.   • Correct width misalignment. When there is width misalignment, you can adjust the pillar to correct it as shown in the picture below, the edge of the bottom part is outside of the surface, you need to push it toward, and vice versa.   12 6. Manual Feeding (bypass) mode Close the auxiliary fold table before use manual feeding mode. DO NOT insert more than 3 sheets at a time. DO NOT insert paper weight more than 60 lbs / 150gsm. DO NOT insert paper with staples. 6.1 Turn on the power switch. 6.2 Position the fold stop as required. 6.3 Pull ejection tray out. 6.4 Insert paper along the guide into the manual feeding socket. Hold and keep paper vertically. 6.5 Press TEST button.   An optional auxiliary feeding backrest is available for easier and quicker fold. (as below pictures for easier installation)   13 Maintenance 1. Regular Clean Paper dust and ink accumulate on some parts during use, which may result in dirty paper and misfeeding. Make sure you have turned off the power before cleaning. 1.1 Clean the paper separator. 1.2 Remove upper & lower plate, open manual feed cover. 1.3 Remove the feed roller by pushing is aside and disengaging the other end. 1.4 Clean all the rollers with a cloth. 2. Replacement of worn parts For the replacement of feed roller and paper separator, please follow the procedure. 2.1 Open the manual feed cover.   2.2 Push the fed roller shaft towards the right cover (near the control panel).   14 2.3 Push till one end is disengaged with the machine, lift the other side and remove the feed roller shaft.   2.4 After replacement, repeat the procedure in the opposite sequence. For other parts, please contact your dealer. 15 Troubleshooter No power present Ensure plug is fitted correctly in 16 Warranty & Incorrect Use IMPORTANT INFORMATION Your Magnum Folding Machine should reach you in perfect condition, however please retain all of the original packaging once you have unpacked your Folding Machine in case you need to return it for repair. If your machine arrives damaged or faulty in anyway, this must be reported to your supplier immediately. If the Folding machine is sent back for repair under warranty and is damaged in transit due to faulty packaging your warranty may be void. The Folding Machine you have purchased includes a 1 year warranty on defective parts and general wear and tear. It does not cover any jams or misfeeds caused by operator error and you could be liable for the repair costs (including delivery charges) if damage is caused by operator error. E&O.E 17
