PRODUCT OVERVIEW DxO ONE The pocket-sized camera that pairs perfectly with your iPhone, so you can take amazing photos anywhere. 2 July 2015 Product overview July 2015 DxO ONE DxO ONE is a revolutionary new camera that pairs perfectly with your iPhone and iPad to deliver DSLR image quality at a size that lets it go everywhere you do. DxO ONE is small enough to fit in your pocket, yet it features a large 1-inch sensor capable of capturing beautiful, high-resolution images. Designed in Paris and San Francisco by a team of top image scientists and engineers, the DxO ONE leverages DxO’s world-renown image processing capabilities to produce photographs that rival those from a DSLR. 3 A REVOLUTIONARY NEW CAMERA A LEGACY OF IMAGE SCIENCE Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Paris and San Francisco, DxO is led by a team of image scientists and engineers devoted to capturing and creating exceptional photography. DxO’s advanced image processing enables miniaturized lenses and sensors, such as those found in smartphones and other compact cameras, to produce high quality images, free from optical distortions, color shading, and other artifacts that would otherwise degrade picture quality. In use by the world’s leading camera and smartphone companies, DxO imaging technologies are embedded in over 300 million devices. For the past two years, the teams in Paris have collaborated with colleagues in San Francisco on the development of the world’s smallest, DSLR-quality, connected camera. The DxO ONE camera design leverages every bit of the advanced imaging technologies that DxO scientists and engineers have been perfecting for well over a decade. And it’s these same imaging technologies that let photographers capture incredible, high quality photographs from such an amazingly compact camera design. DxO ONE CAMERA DESIGN DxO ONE easily fits in your pocket or purse, and yet it captures photographs every bit as beautiful and detailed as those taken by a DSLR. Outside, it’s sleek, smooth and elegant, but inside, the DxO ONE is packed with innovative subassemblies and powerful software that enable it to capture dynamic images and cinematic video. Compact, lightweight and elegant At just 108 grams and well under 3” tall, DxO ONE is a fraction of the size of any high-end camera; In fact, the DxO ONE is actually smaller than the grip of a full size DSLR. The DxO ONE easily fits into your pocket, or even a small clutch purse, so there’s no longer any excuse to leave your good camera at home. Engineered to stand up to the elements, DxO ONE is made from premium materials, including high-grade aluminum for durability and a solid feel. To protect from the elements, the DxO ONE features an integrated lens cover that also serves as a simple and quick on/off mechanism for the camera. With a 2-stage physical shutter button and a touch control OLED, you can quickly switch between photo and video capture modes and never miss a shot. 4 Product overview July 2015 World’s smallest 1” sensor camera Packed into the tiny DxO ONE is a powerful 1-inch CMOS imaging sensor, featuring backside illumination and 20.2 megapixels. The design of the frame is actually three times smaller than any comparably-equipped compact camera. The high-resolution images it captures allow for cropping to improve composition while still rendering images completely suitable for large-format printing. Video is recorded at either full HD (1080p at 30fps) or in 4x slow motion (720p at 120fps). Weight just Tall 108 2.65’’ grams (67.5mm) High quality, aspherical lens DxO imaging science made it possible to position the lens assembly so close to the sensor DxO ONE The image scientists at DxO know that good photos start with good glass, so they designed a high quality lens with six aspherical elements. To reduce the size of the optical subassembly, the lens was positioned extremely close to the sensor – a technique only made possible by leveraging advanced image science technologies. The lens has a focal length of 11.9mm, which is equivalent to 32mm in full frame. The six-blade variable aperture is adjustable from f/1.8 down to f/11 to let you precisely control depth of field and capture a lovely bokeh effect. Electronic image stabilization helps keep details sharp when recording video. With a fast lens and large sensor, the DxO ONE can easily capture brilliant photos in even the lowest light – indoors at a dimly lit restaurant, or outside on a moonlit walk. 5 A REVOLUTIONARY NEW CAMERA The SuperRAW format enables DxO ONE to achieve a DxO Mark sensor score of up to 85, unparalleled for camera this size. RAW and SuperRAW™ DxO ONE is one of the first commercial cameras to output two different sets of RAW files to improve low light performance, which is why there are two different sets of DxOMark sensor scores. DxOMark is an independent rating system that measures RAW-based image quality to help you evaluate and compare digital cameras and lenses. By default, the DxO ONE captures images as RAW files and, immediately after capture DxO embedded image processing converts the RAW files into high quality JPEGs that you can instantly share through your iPhone to Facebook®, Instagram®, Twitter® and more. The default RAW files are recorded in the DNG format, allowing for maximum post-production flexibility, including compatibility with Adobe® Lightroom®. 6 For the ultimate in noise-free image quality – even in very low light – users can choose to capture photos in DxO’s proprietary SuperRAW™ format. A DxO SuperRAW file is actually the result of 4 RAW frames captured in quick succession. When the DxO ONE camera is connected to a Mac or PC, DxO Connect desktop photo software automatically merges the four images together using the very latest in spatial and temporal noise reduction (TNR). While temporal noise reduction technologies have previously been used in generating high-quality JPEG images (as in the iPhone 6), this is to our knowledge the first time that TNR has been deployed in this precise manner for RAW files. This method of capturing a SuperRAW and applying advanced image processing on the desktop is what allows DxO ONE to achieve a DxOMark sensor score of 70, and up to 85 when using the SuperRAW™. A DxOMark score of 85 simply means that the quality of images produced by DxO ONE far exceeds that of most high-end digital cameras, even DSLRs costing and weighing considerably more. Product overview July 2015 MADE FOR iPhone AND iPad Integrated Lightning connector The design includes an integrated Lightning connector that retracts and collapses via the camera’s lens cover. DxO ONE attaches to your iPhone with a solid click. The moment you connect the DxO ONE camera to your iPhone, the DxO ONE iOS app opens, turning your iPhone display into a big, beautiful viewfinder for the camera. The rotating pedestal, which contains the Lightning connector, swivels plus and minus 60 degrees, allowing you to pivot the camera so you can easily compose shots from any angle. Hold it high above your head to capture a live performance in a crowded concert, or hold it at ground level to record your toddler’s first steps. Either way, you’ll be able to easily compose with the viewfinder while aiming the lens at your subject. The patent-pending Lightning connector swivels 60 degrees in either direction for creative angles The DxO ONE iOS app turns your iPhone display into the camera viewfinder and controls Smile for your selfie! The universal Lightning connector can, of course, be connected either way. The DxO ONE takes advantage of this by letting you reconnect the camera with the lens facing you. Inside DxO ONE is both a gyroscope and an accelerometer, which kicks the DxO ONE iOS app into Selfie Mode when they detect the camera position has been inverted. Press the physical shutter button on the camera to grab a quick selfie, or tap the soft shutter button and get ready as the display counts down to 3, 2, 1… Then smile as the iPhone display illuminates your face with a natural fill light that will flatter you and your friends. Elegant and intuitive interface The simple, yet sophisticated camera controls invite you to take your photography to the next level. No matter what you’re photographing or what video you’re capturing, everything feels easy and intuitive. The DxO ONE app is designed exclusively for iOS, which means it’s engineered to take full advantage of the advanced technologies built into the Apple ecosystem. With planned frequent updates via the App Store, your DxO ONE will remain years ahead of other digital cameras…years from now. The DxO ONE iOS app features an easy-to-use interface designed to let you control every setting and mode on the camera. It’s like every great DSLR you’ve ever used, only quicker and easier. Simply tap to access automatic scene modes for sports, portraits, landscapes, and night photography. Tap to engage aperture or speed priority, and dial in a specific ISO or exposure compensation. Or go full manual and confirm your settings with the exposure meter in the viewfinder. The sidebar allows you to select spot, center weighted and multi-zone metering modes, and with a touch you can choose between single-shot or continuous auto-focus, and various white balance modes. DxO ONE DxO ONE is much more than an extremely small DSLR-quality camera, because it has been designed to connect directly to the iPhone and iPad. Unlike competing cameras in the emerging connected camera segment, which attempt to work with every make, model and mobile operating system on the market, the DxO ONE is made exclusively for iPhone and iPad, allowing it to take full advantage of the Apple ecosystem. And because the DxO ONE includes a microSD™ slot to save your photos and videos, and an integrated, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, it will never impact your iPhone storage or your talk time. 7 A REVOLUTIONARY NEW CAMERA UNPARALLELED IMAGE PROCESSING Storing and Sharing The DxO ONE captures photos as RAW files and converts them to high-quality JPEGs in camera. By default, JPEGs are automatically copied to your iPhone, so you can instantly share them to Facebook®, Flickr®, Twitter®, and anywhere else you care to share your photos. Automatically transferring your images to your iPhone also means you can edit them in iOS Photos or your preferred photo editing apps, such as Instagram®, Enlight or VSCO®. It also means that, if you’ve enabled iCloud Photo Library, your DxO ONE photos will instantly appear on all your devices, including your Mac or your PC. If your iPhone storage space is at a premium, you can elect to only save your photos to the microSD™ card you’ll have installed in your DxO ONE (USH-1 U3 microSD™ card needs to be purchased separately). By default, JPEGs are automatically copied to your iPhone, so you can instantly share them… Because videos tend to be quite large, they are only stored to the microSD™ card in the DxO ONE, but can be easily to copied to your iPhone during playback if you like. In addition, users will continue to benefit from having a camera that will be updated seamlessly via automatic App Store updates. Over just the next few months, users can expect to receive a host of new features designed to make your DxO ONE a more full-featured camera, and you a more capable photographer. Every photo you take with the DxO ONE is automatically optimized with advanced image processing in camera, but you can make your best photos look even better by connecting your camera to your Mac or PC and launching the most powerful image processing software in the world: DxO Connect. DxO Connect will automatically optimize your RAW files, or can import them directly to DxO OpticsPro or DxO FilmPack. DxO OpticsPro is a favorite of pro photographers of all genres for its sophisticated set of tools that automatically correct optical flaws and further refine your RAW images. DxO FilmPack is able to faithfully reproduce the style, color and grain of some 80 analog films, long cherished by professionals. DxO Connect Simply tether DxO ONE to your Mac or PC (using the supplied USB cable) and DxO Connect will launch, displaying all the photos and videos you’ve captured with the DxO ONE. DxO Connect is primarily a gateway to other apps, such as DxO FilmPack and DxO OpticsPro, but it can also automatically optimize your DxO ONE images. Unique to DxO’s image processing is PRIME, an intelligent denoising technology that suppresses noise while preserving detail, texture and color. In addition, DxO Connect automatically recognizes SuperRAW files and also applies Temporal Noise Reduction. Best of all, the process is automatic, so even a novice can get results like a pro. The PRIME & TNR algorithms are quite intense in that they analyze a very wide number of neighboring pixels to achieve the best quality possible, so it can take a while to process…but it’s worth it! DxO Connect desktop software will further optimize and enhance RAW files from the DxO ONE 8 Product overview July 2015 DxO FilmPack DxO OpticsPro DxO Connect can import and open your RAW files directly in DxO FilmPack, a creative tool for Mac or PC that perfectly reproduces the look of analog film in digital images. DxO FilmPack features more than 120 styles, including nearly 40 remarkable renditions of analog black & white films. Unlike other software that claims to emulate film, DxO FilmPack first removes digital noise from the RAW, then applies photorealistic film tone curves, color shading and procedural grain directly to the image. The result is a remarkably accurate rendition of legacy film stocks on your digital images. Serious photographers who want full control over all RAW conversion parameters will prefer to import and open their photos in DxO OpticsPro, available as a free download with the purchase of a DxO ONE camera (limited time offer). DxO OpticsPro automatically fixes optical flaws, clears up shadows, and corrects for overexposed highlights. Professional photographers the world over cherish DxO OpticsPro for its PRIME noise reduction, which allows them to capture images in very low light, a full stop beyond their camera’s native capabilities, with no loss in detail.
