Bringing the benefits of OAM (Operation, Administration and Maintenance) under the 802.3ah standard, the FRM220 chassis allows Service Providers, Carriers, CLEC’s and MSO’s to provide reliable Ethernet service to their subscribers. The FRM220 offers an unparalleled level of aggregation with up to 38 Gigabit Ethernet ports concentrated in only 2U space of a 19” rack. It also offers an NMS card, that allows in-band management and supports serial console SNMP or web based management. The chassis is powered by two redundant power supplies of various AC or DC types, according to installation requirements. Media converter cards from the FRM220 line offer a large palette of Fast and Gigabit Ethernet optical modules as well as other various interfaces like RS-232, RS-485, V.35 or X.21 interfaces. Coded as SML-50-831X-S, where X digit is changing according to the needed optical wavelength, the Add-Drop multiplexer allows amazing flexibility to the CWDM application. The one channel OADM is able to extract a single optical wavelength from the CWDM fiber. It has two connections, one for input(Add) and second one for output(Drop) over same chosen wavelength. Using such an OADM device, the single fiber optic CWDM circuit can drop or collect data to a virtually unlimited number of add/drop points over the whole fiber optic length. Using the Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer (OADM), CWDM applications are no more point to point applications.
